Resort Thread Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB Resorts

An update text from the teacher, although I didn't get a review of the drink from him yet:

"Bartender said too much juice in the Treasure so better off not doing frozen"

But sorry, professor, there are some lessons you have to learn for yourself. I'll be doing my own lab research at the end of August.

::yes::

Sounds like a lazy Bartender...

All you have to do is freeze the juice, or even the whole mixed drink in individual cubes in an ice tray and then blend away.
Problem solved!

We are planning on going to the Yacht Club in mid August (15-25). Are there going to be any renovations going on there or is it just at the Beach club for now? Any info would be greatly appreciated!

Just a question of someone who might be able to ask while visiting the YC. When they start the refurb work, is the Captain's Grille scheduled to go off-line for some repair and maintenance? If so, do they have any time frame in mind when this will be happening? Now I'm certain the CMs at the concierge and front desk won't know so you may have to push a little to have them check in with the managers. I'm just wondering, that's all.

It would be a brave person to approach the manager with this question........

60.43 days. FastPass+ scheduling tonight! Magic Kingdom closes at midnight, so I'll have no delay - unless the servers do down. Wish me luck.
Good luck. I did mine right after midnight and didn't have a single problem. I only planned the first three days, since those were the days I knew we'd be a MK and might have trouble getting FP for the mine train and/or Elsa. Went off without a hitch, fortunately.

I used one of the Lt. blender's Margarita in a Bag pouches to try a frozen sunken treasure. I didn't add the juice, which would have given it a closer taste to the real thing. I used the coconut rum, blue curaçao, and the Midori, and then filled with water according to the instructions on the bag. I thought the citrus in the dry mix would make it a closer to a sunken treasure. It was pretty tasty, but the coconut flavor really came through more than it does in the regular drink. My husband was less than thrilled with the results because he's not a huge fan of coconut. I think NM has it right. Freeze the juices, then blend with the liquor. Maybe that can be an experiment for another time.

They may have started the YC work by then. Although I think it's probably unlikely you'll notice it even if it has started - since it will be in such early stages.

Is there a place where I can find information about the YC renovation and approximate dates?

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list

:welcome: back!

:woohoo:

All the information I have about the renovations going on at the resort is in the very first post of this thread. I update when I have new confirmed details, but I haven't heard anything in awhile.

BC renovation is currently happening on 2nd floor (maybe first floor rooms too?)

YC will start when BC renovation is complete. We have not heard a start date yet. Best guess is early fall (Sept, Oct). This is not based on any official news.

I believe they will be starting with renovations to the 5th floor- club level at the YC. I don't know if the lounge will be expanding in size like at the BC.

I have not heard reports that work on the rooms at the BC villas has started yet, although I think someone posted that there was some hallway or lobby work recently.

It looks like the originally projected start date of sometime this spring has been pushed back but I have not heard a new date.

You are now as caught up as I am!

:)

The Beach Club renovations are supposed to be done by 22 August. My guess would be they start at Yacht anytime after then.

Thanks for the quick replies! And the warm welcome back :)

I had read the first post but was hoping there would be some sort of time frame. I'm thinking about going in March, but don't want to stay there during construction/renovation. I hope they do enlarge the lounge (and the fact they are getting lots of positive feedback on the BC lounge will hopefully help) because it's quite squishy in there.

Are you staying club level or in a regular room. Again, based on the assumption that the YC renos will start in fall, then I think the 5th floor will be done by then (March). But that is about as far as I am willing to go out on limb to estimate.

It would most likely be CL, but it can be noisy even if they are working on other floors and in that case we could either go to the BC or try BWI (DH wants to check it out). We try to avoid all construction, which isn't hard since we don't go to WDW all that often and there are plenty of nice resorts. But my DD wants to go back to the YC so I'm leaning in that direction.

Yep, that's what I'm looking for. Perhaps NM can ask while she's running "au natural" through the resort with the map?

I've reserved a room for my first visit to the Beach Club for the last week in October.
This will be my second visit to WDW.
Does the BC do any decorating or activities for the Halloween season?

Going next week - if anyone wants me to get any info for you or take any pictures while I am there let me know!

I'd love pictures of the ceramics class that only takes place on Wednesday between 1:30-3:30PM at Sandcastle Club.

I'd like to confirm that Boardwalk Street performances are only on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday's from 7PM to 10PM.

We would love to see your room view picture too! Enjoy your visit home!

Won't be there on Wednesday - but as for the rest of the stuff, I'll add it to my list!
