Resort Thread Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB Resorts

in case you haven't heard, BOG has opened availability for breakfast reservations (quick service) with a slightly different menu through Oct 3. We'll be trying the lunch for the first time on our next trip, and will see if we can snag a breakfast also if they extend it through our trip dates.

FWIW:
There is a thread over in the DVC Resorts forum with pictures of 2BR villa under refurbishment. They are calling it a mock up room. It is isn't finished yet. You can still see the workers' equipment. But it seems to be somewhat similar to what they are doing at the BC.

Sorry I can't link it from my iPhone.

Thanks for posting this.

Here is the thread you saw:

I seriously am going to go out to the bus stop from 6 to 7 one morning to check out the bus situation. Maybe one morning I'll hang out by the boat dock and check out when they start. Maybe see you there!

Will certainly keep my eyes open for you!!!
PS: I'm a short, little "unnatural" red-head.

Sue, thanks for the heads up on this. I liked the pictures, and you are right, it does give you the same feel as the BC renovated rooms. I will say I had to laugh at what some of the comments were. I just hope that everyone can come to peace with what is being done. Life is too short to be stressing out over some of the trivial things that people were upset about. Like I've told many people here in the office, if this isn't to your standards, there are too many other choices out there where you can spend your time and money.

Does anyone know if you can see the Frozen fireworks in Hollywood Studios from the Beach Club beach? If not, where's a good place to watch?

Yes. There should be a link with my photos in either post 13 or 14 on page 1 of this thread

ETA- here is my link. I eventually moved from the bridge to the beach to watch the fireworks

@CJK Here's a link from my August 2014 trip report with pictures of the Illuminations Fireworks and the Summer Frozen Fireworks from the Boardwalk Bridge.

Teena and her crew look like they are having an amazing time! The pics are beautiful :)

Hi - This has probably been answered on here but didn't see it on the first page. What's the story about shipping to the resort? Is there a fee?

Can I ship a package to Beach Club or Yacht Club for my stay?

If you ship a package to the resort, Mail by United States Postal Service*, not anything else!!! If you mail other than USPS, your items will be shipped to the convention center and the shipping department will charge the recipient a handling charge, based on the weight of your package.

In March 2012, the package retrieval fees were:

Up to 5 pounds: $3
5-20 pounds: $5
above 20 pounds: $10

I SAID ENGLAND!

Sorry, couldn't resist since you gave me that earworm. :)

This isn't BC/YC related at all, but I had to post how excited I am. Just for the heck of it, I threw the dates of our August trip into Kayak and up popped non-stop round-trip fares on JetBlue from BWI to MCO for $177 each. I've not flown JetBlue, but I've heard good things about it. I paid about $50 more for the six round-trip tickets than I did for the three tickets I bought on Southwest for August.

Just updated again, is there any pictures of the renovated deluxe rooms, I can't seem to find any.

I LOVE JetBlue!!! Free snacks and no luggage fees and we get the funniest and friendliest flight attendants. The pilot even let my DS sit in the cockpit :) Congrats

How did you get the upgrade? Just by asking? I've not had much luck that way.
My husband did ask but when she gave us the room number (and I was staring at the map) I kinda kicked him to shut up. I was probably one of the only ones who simply requested "full balcony" - think more were requesting refurnbished room too. Our room wasn't the newer rooms (except for peeling wallpaper all over the toilet/tub area you really didn't notice much) but the location and view made up for that. We used the quiet pool everyday even if only for an hour. Had breakfast and coffee every morning on balcony watching people walk by on way to boat or EPCOT. My daughter brought Her pastries from France back and ate her snacks every afternoon on the balcony. I can see why people would pay more for that view now:)

We loved our BOG lunch a couple weeks ago. Great way to take a break from the hustle of the park.

I do not see that JetBlue flies direct from BWI, but they do from DCA which is Reagan National. I was considering these flights ( I must live near you), but Southwest was more convenient for changes, two free checked bags, location, and only about $20 bucks cheaper round trip when I booked.
