Resort Thread Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB Resorts

I need a little refresher on locations please. I'm staying at BC in August, but before then I'm having afternoon tea at the Solarium. We will be walking from DHS to get there so I'll be entering BC lobby from the Crescent Bay side. When I enter the lobby the check-in will be on my left and then I head towards the Marketplace to my right...? Past Marketplace to find the Solarium? Correct? Any place on a map I could see this? TIA!

I don't know the answer, but I really want to do the afternoon tea! We are also looking at either July or Aug. What week are you going in Aug? We are also tossed between the BC and YC, leaning towards BC since YC may be under renovations. Decisions, decisions......

I know I was bummed to hear how limited the afternoon tea is because it's not offered (yet) in August, but then we added a May trip and it happens to be offered on the weekend we are going. YAY! If they don't extend the Solarium Tea then you should try tea at Grand Floridian. We may try tea at GF in August if we LOVE tea at the Solarium.

We prefer to go in late August, but my babysitter is taking vacation in the early-mid part of August so we need to go then. I'd like to try YC, but we booked at BC because it has the Marketplace (only traditional QS, excluding bars).

If you go to the 4th post in this thread (Activities) you will see the current and most recent Activities schedules for the resort. Directly below that, there is a link with the past activities schedules. You can find the ones for Aug 2015 and Aug 2014 which should answer your question.

Yes, you will be able to use Stormalong Bay after checkout. You are a guest of the resort until midnight of your checkout day. Then, like it did for Cinderella, the magic stops :(

:goodvibes:

I found it, thanks! I didn't realize the movies are shown some nights in the solarium, we'll definitely have to plan around that. It seems much more fun to watch on the beach. :) On the other hand if it's raining that's a good indoor evening activity.

The movie is always moved to the Solarium in the event of rain, but last year was the first year that movies were regularly shown in the Solarium, on select dates(days). I had forgotten about that! It is not currently done like that. I don't know if the movies will always be scheduled outside if the weather is decent, or if they will still have some "indoor movie days"

Will definitely check out GF if the Solarium is not offered this summer! I think we will do BC, just have to figure out what week. Leaning towards end of July since it just fits our schedule better. We are used to the heat and crowds so I think we will be fine.

Just a short update on our trip. The weather is beautiful and we are enjoying our pool time! We have eaten at Yachtsman for our anniversary dinner, delicious as always, Rose and Crown, very good, and Cape May for Breakfast. I finally convinced my husband to get his picture taken with characters! We saw Aurura and Tink on the path from the International Gateway last night. My grand children will be surprised to see Popa with them!

Spoke with a cast member at the desk up here last night and he said they are "streamlining" checkin. Do it on line and come right up stairs. If I had gotten notification before my trip that my magic band would have worked I would have done it. I never do online checkin when staying club level but I think they want you to now so you go right upstairs when no greeters are out front, because eventually they will be totally eliminated

I don't know what to do now. We arrive on Friday, have a 7 AM flight from Hartford so we should be at BC by 11:30 or so. I have not done online check in as we are staying CL. I can't imagine our room will be ready that early though. I figured we would check-in, have lunch and then hopefully be able to get into our room. I called IPO yesterday and they told me there "should be" greeters to bring you up at "regular" hours-meaning mid morning to afternoon.

I love the "streamlining" comment. You really wonder if they think we all believe such nonsense.

I've had rooms as early as 7AM so it is possible that a room could be ready. LOL on the streamlining...you mean it is not meant to save us time and enhance our magical experience. :rotfl2: :lmao:

What's the quickest way to get to the Polynesian from Yacht club? I'm thinking either bus to Epcot or MK then monorail, does anyone know? (Will have vehicle so if it's much easier could drive)

Since you mentioned quickest, then driving would be the number 1 choice. There is no bus to Epcot. Your best "non-driving" option would be bus to MK and then resort monorail to Polynesian.

I agree, driving (or a taxi) is the quickest way.

I believe there is actually a bus that will take you to the front of EPCOT in the afternoon (and maybe evenings?). I think it has something to do with transportation to the water parks.

Thank you for the responses, I think we will drive.. I like to use Disney transportation because it feels to me like you lose a little magic doing it yourself lol feels too much like when I worked there but worth it to save time and hassle!

I guess I should have read the signs when I was there in January! Typical male, don't read instructions and don't ask for directions! :rolleyes1

Hi everyone! We'll be at the BC for the first time from 9/3-9/10 and are so excited! It will be my DH, DS (1 turning 2 during the trip) and myself. We got one of those "magical" deals that we couldn't pass up, especially knowing our little guy will get to celebrate his birthday with his best friend Mickey Mouse.

We've stayed at the GF and Poly so I'm excited to see how the BC compares, but I'm sure it's going to be as wonderful as they were. I'll be scoping out this board for tips, so many thanks to everyone for all of this great information! :disrocks:

page 397-399

Please add us to the BOG list :teeth:

3 - 10 December 2016 for our first stay at the Beach Club to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary

Now I need a countdown ticker!

:welcome:

I'll add you to the list.

:woohoo:

Can you add me to the BOG list. We'll be staying at Beach Club Villas April 1-5, then BLT until the 9th.

Is the lockers at SAB easy to get in the middle of the day? I'll need somewhere to lock up my carry on until we can check in. Two years ago, I tried to use the lockers at the spa and was told no and there was nowhere to secure my belongings while at the pool. I've since seen there are lockers by Beaches and Cream. I did not know about them the last time I stayed there. Thanks

:welcome:

Will do!

Sounds like a fantastic split.

:cool1:

I know others have chimed in about the lockers. I know I have pictures on Page 1. Maybe in Post 2 (Stormalong Bay) or in either Post 13 (FAQ) or Post 14 (Other Useful Info). I forget where I put things sometimes.

:rotfl:

Heads up!

I don't like to be the one to start rumors or fan the flames, but if you go to the DIS Rumors and News subforum you will find a thread with credible predictions that Disney ticket prices will be raised this weekend (I think price increases usually take place on Sundays).

I'm not going to guarantee that this info is correct, but I am going to purchase the park tickets for my upcoming trip tomorrow.

:rolleyes1

Mea Culpa! I have NOT seen anything about ticket price increases today.

I still think they are coming soon, and I'm still glad I got mine for my upcoming trip.

::yes::

I was a little sad to learn that Typhoon Lagoon will not be re-opening until the end of our trip (first world problems, I know!). However, we are now left with a full day that we are thinking of turning into a resort day. Of course we would enjoy some SAB time but what else would you do? Has anyone tried the Sea Raycers? What about doing a room service breakfast? Any faves for lunch on the Boardwalk or around the resort? We will be heading to Narcoosees for dinner that evening and then to MK for EMH so maybe a more low key day will turn out to be a good thing. TIA for any ideas/advice you may have to offer!

I haven't done it, but you could walk over to the mini golf course (near the Swalfin)

We like Captain's Grille for a sit-down lunch, I haven't been to Beaches & Cream, (I know, I know) but you could make reservations and get something light there. I hear the lobster roll at one of the QS places at the Boardwalk is really good.

:thumbsup2

Just got my first "pin" code. Wasn't planning to get back this year but now maybe I can sneak in a short trip! Guess I have to go do some searches...

A "pin" code got us in 2010!

:banana::banana::banana:

I can say we've changed our days in a GOOD way. Instead of a split stay, we're staying put at the Beach Club from May 21 to May 28! I'm super excited to get a full week at Beach Club instead of my usual 4 days; we were booked for only three of our nights at Yacht Club for this May trip. This is my 12 year old niece's first trip!!

Got your new dates!

:goodvibes

How is the hair salon at beach club? Wanted to get daughter's haircut before our trip but we're home with colds just trying to get better before our trip. Any stylist good with straight hair?

If I have any reviews, they will be in post 5 of this thread. But I don't remember any. Surprisingly, I hear really good things about the barber at Magic Kingdom, for both boys and girls.

:hippie:

Glad to see so many other Massachusetts peeps in this thread.

58 days till my first Beach Club stay (and my wedding!) so I'll be following this thread closely to see what's going on at BC!

Northeast Mass respresenting!

Here's an official :welcome: and congratulations!

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list. April?

:love2:

I told Teena that nobody could ever take her place, but is there any greeter at the BC on Sundays and Mondays anymore?

I have heard there are still greeters but I don't know when they are in the lobby.

:confused3

I have to change my date by one day on our upcoming stay at BC. We will now be there May 8th to the 14th. We now have to fly we we're suppose to drive. Our flight does not get into orlando until late Saturday night about 9:15. We are going to stay at All Star Sports first night then head to BC next morning. It's been awhile since we last took ME what time do they stop at night? Hoping we still can get ME when we land.

No worries! ME is 24/7. Just make sure you grab your checked bags and don't use the "yellow tags" because luggage delivery stops at 10:00 and you'll be cutting it close.

I was planning to get my luggage. I glad to hear they run all night. One less thing I have to worry about. Thanks!
