Resort Thread Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB Resorts

It seems the discount %'s for 2016 are all varying for YC & BC. The AP discount was 30% YC and 20% BC for early Spring, and I noticed another post about a pin code with the same discount %'s for Jan - June 2016. When I booked our trip last Jan for this past July, the discounts for both resorts were the same. My thought is because the BC is refurbished now? What does everyone think? I was hoping for 30% off BC again this July but now I'm worried!
I've noticed the moment a resort gets a refurb, they raise room rate and lessen discount :-(

With more and more people getting their room numbers texted to then before they arrive this possibility has almost been eliminated.
I don't know how much difference that will make? If I went back to the resort after getting a room ready text and after seeing room and didn't like it, I'd be back at desk asking for another room. In August I checked in early at Poly and asked if I got my room request- a balcony. No balcony. So I asked to move. I had to wait untill the next day to move, but got my balcony. With a 2 week stay it was important.

Hi all!! We have never been to the Yacht Club and was wondering if there was amy particular area of the hotel to request our room location? We don't mind a walk to the quick service areas at all but would like to have a room that would have a nice view sinc this is our first time. We are booked in a standard thats why im asking. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
For a standard view, I'd ask for a room close to lobby, upper floor. We were first given the worst standard view ever at first, behind convention Center, right over the garbage dump. Went back to desk to ask for different room. We got a room above portico in front of resort. The only thing I thought I wouldn't like was that it was a huge balcony shared by 4 rooms. Turned out not to be a problem, I was the only one that used it. It was good people watching- watching the comings & goings, and to the left you could see bus stop in the distance. Looking straight ahead could just see trees. Decent view for standard.

Disney has had greater discounts for the YC many times lately. We've booked the YC instead of the BC for that exact reason in Sept of 2014. And that was before the BC refurb had started for most of the resort. I think the BC is just more popular and Disney can get people to spend more for it.

They'll have variable discounts for other deluxe resorts, too, depending on the season.
The same thing happens with POR & POFQ. Freq POFQ gets shut out of any discount. Prob because they don't need discounts to fill POFQ. It's very popular due to its small size.

I would too. My only point was that with the new system it is much less likely that "your" room will get reassigned to another guest before you arrive. If "your" room is eligible for Streamlined Check In or Bypass the Front Desk it won't get assigned to somebody else before you arrive as they can't/won't take a chance on you receiving the room ready text or getting your room number from the Streamlined Check In Kiosk and show up to have another guest in the room already.

Hmm, I see. I guess that's why I had to wait untill the next day to change rooms in August.

Being outside the US, they won't text me when room is ready, I get an email which is waaaaay slower. On room change day we decided to return to Poly around 2:30 to check on room. Not ready yet but they said housekeeping was in it. Went upstairs to get a LapuLapu and relax out of the heat. Checked downstairs again, was told almost ready. So we sat in lobby. CM motioned us over, yay room was ready! So around 3;45 room was ready, didn't get room ready email until 7:30pm! I'll know for next visit not to rely on room ready email.

If you are at the YC on a conference will they assign us to a room behind the conference center with everyone on the conference or is it still just random room assignments. Hoping the answer is random assignments since i understand behind the conference center the room views are bad.

The BCV have pack 'n plays in all villas.
I thought that actual cribs were limited in number and first come first served and not guaranteed. I have read advice that if that is really important to you you should look into renting one from an offsite vendor. One that I have seen recommended is A Baby's Best Friend. They have a website, I believe it is www.abbf.com
Good Luck

Thanks for the info!

Can you request a crib if you are staying in the villas, or not, because there are pack 'n plays?

:thumbsup2

:welcome: to the thread!

When is your trip?

If you go to the Resorts Photo subforum, there is a thread called Yacht Club Room Views. It is a sample of views from the various room categories.

As someone suggests above, rooms close to the elevator or close to lobby are centralized and away from end of the resort where some of the worst views are.

:goodvibes

Good question!

I don't know, but I suspect that room assignments are based on other factors.

I have never needed to request a crib while in the BCV, but I am certain that you can. You can request anything else available in the YC/BC, for example bed rails or extra pillows etc.

Been back now almost two weeks and I'm finally getting a moment to breathe :upsidedow.

Just a few thoughts...
While we enjoyed our first couple of nights at CSR (business class rooms & having access to the lounge are so worth the few extra $$ IMHO), we truly loved being back at the BC.

Overall, we had such a great trip. F&W was a blast!! We did the wine pairing luncheon at Tutto Gusto which was fabulous. We loved sampling our way around the world S-E-V-E-R-A-L times, our anniversary dinner at V&A's was out of this world and we had a lot of pool time which was so relaxing!

Love the new rooms...so much nicer in person and we had an awesome garden view/corner room on the 2nd floor. One funny thing about the room? Our room receipt states that our room number was 2648 but I could have sworn the plaque outside our room said 2649 :confused3. I'm starting to think I may have had a little too much :drinking1at F&W this year :rolleyes1.

Anywhoo.... here's some pics of our room:

i asked the same question over on the BWI board and nobody knew. At gf they usually put the people in Sago since it is closer.

Hi everyone!

Will an iPod nano (slim) fit on the dock in the Villas? I do have a plastic converter which helps it stand more upright.

Thanks!

Does anyone know when the decorations and gingerbread displays usually go up? We leave next Thursday and was hoping the lobby would be decorated when we get there.

Hi everyone, you will know me as DG24, I've been locked out of my account for some reason it keeps saying wrong password, I would ask them to reset it and wait but they never did, so I just opened an account with my same email and a new password.

Anyway our vacation in August/sept was awful. First contastrophy and no wedding. That's a story I'll keep to myself. Second three got sick while there and that was hard. But most of all we hate, I am sorry to say, we hate the beach club, we were finally able to move and the vacation wen better from there but we will never return to the beach club.

Let me say this is for us, in our situation, others would never be faced with the same obstacles. But if there are blind people out there than let me say, beach club is not for you.

Here are some of the problems we faced. First we were not greeted outside like told, so that is a worthless perk of paying for club level. Second there was no fast check in, it was a slow long process and we had already checked in on line. Third we were not even checked in by the club level people, we were checked in down stairs then had to go up stairs to be checked in again.

Plus we got the room we asked for. Bad news is no map of this hotel could have prepared my mom who is blind for the little nocks and crannies. And the huge long walk from our room to club level. Worse after she asked and asked and asked every time she called to have the room accommodations, they did not have any and could not get them. I think she was reasonable, she wanted the phone and safe instructions in Braille, and the evacuation instructions in Braille, and she wanted a bearer free room. Well after two days they put flashing lights in the room, which was worse for a blind person.

Then ever day she tripped, fell or crashed into something in the halls, the laundry of sheets thrown on the floor at breakfast that were still there when we wanted to change to go swimming mid afternoon. The dirty trays of food and dishes, one set sat for three days until we finally went and told a manager. Or the papers that kept getting thrown under out door that would make her slip and fall. It was like an obstacle course and mom was not winning.

After 5 days she finally said enough and demanded that they move her somewhere else. We went to the contemporary which we all thought we would hate. Again no club level welcome and again a pain in butt to check in, but we got the biggest room I have ever see, it was a hospitality suite, still far from club level but, at least as mom said there were straight lines, with no nocks and crannies. Club staff were nicer at CR. the room was well worth it. At BC we had a deluxe suite I think, bigger than regular room, smaller than 1 bedroom. Anyway the rest of vacation was great.

One other thing, mom was only one who did not get sick, she had to maneuver these halls without us because we were sick, and the club level staff who we hear are nice when your sick were not to us, they would not help mom get drinks down to us, she had to make six to ten trips to get drinks and food down to us. When asked if we could get hot tea they said no, and she was afraid to carry it being blind. She did not know and they did not tell her there was a coffe pot in room. At one point they said they were going to charge her for the drinks she took, and she called a manager. Three of us had the worst cold flu ever and non of us could help her at all, I thought staff was just rude and obnoxious.

So if your blind do not try the BC, go to CR. if we were not sick or if they had accommodated like she asked it would have been better. Club lever is definitely not worth it, half the free perks they do not give you, and the begrudge you the other half. Not like at dl resorts where they hand you twenty waters each morning as you walk out to the parks. They hide the water and when ask give weird looks and faces and tell you they don't have any.

Sorry I know many like this resort. Even if not due to blindness, I have to say we were treated better at CR and we definitely had an easier time with mom at CR.

We enjoyed cr too. We ended up moving to the hospitality suite when my dh and ds had a flight cancel. (Was supposed to be just dd and I for a few extra days after the family trip)

If I told them I had to carry stuff back to the suite they were great about it. They let me take extra for the guys etc.

I haven't tried bc cl yet so I'll find out soon.

In the future I would recommend one of the tower club suites at cr for your family. It's the 14th floor and there is a lounge up there on the same floor as the suites . It would much easier for mom.

Thanks for the suggestion. Even though it was our worst by far Disney vacation, my mom bought into Disney vacation club, so vacations will be different. Actually she set up a vacation this morning for just her and my niece who is 10, to go in June. She is going to try AK and Poly, I know poly is straight no turns so that will work, I hope ask works for her because they look curves. But as long as the inside Hal's don't have weird nocks and crannies she should be ok. I think she will also always take the dog from now on, Disney does not and has never accommodated blind, so as much as she hates to bring her dog(because it is very hard on a dog, and she goes for two weeks), since Disney has no intention of ever accommodating her she will have her dog to help herself.

Hey - that was our room in August!! We loved the location - the private little corner and the short walk to the stairs :)

Sounds like your whole BC trip went "South" starting with with the Non-Wedding. Glad you had a better time at CR.
