Resort Thread Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB Resorts

Also, I think I read somewhere that the campfire activities include s'mores. Is this correct and how does it work? Just show up? What is the cost?

And, of course, I thought of another question....what did you guys do to keep your toddlers happy while waiting in attraction lines? I am at a complete loss. Our DS is a true flirt so if we have some playful people nearby we are golden, but otherwise, possibly in trouble.... He is thrilled with videos of himself so we are planning on that for the airport/flight, but don't want it to get old before the return flight and we limit his screen time.

Can you use a dining plan snack credit at Beaches & Cream? If so what is available for the snack credit? I have been reading and seen that you can get a sundae at The Plaza with a snack credit and just wondered if it is the same for Beach & Cream.

I recommend using the allears.net site for any menu that you might be interested in viewing. If an item qualifies for a snack credit, they have the symbol next to the item. The link for B&C Snack menu is http://allears.net/dining/menu/beaches-and-cream-soda-shop/snacks.

It appears you can at least get a single scoop waffle cone!

It has taken me several months to read this entire thread!!!! I apologize if the info is front and center and I missed it or for my faulty memory. I have read this thread for years and have to say you guys really are the nicest and most patient group on the forum. Finally posting….

We are planning our third stay at the YC this December and are super excited to return this time for our son’s first visit, December 4-12. I am the “Disney person” in the family and am hoping DH will finally become a true convert after seeing all the fun our son will have. DS will be 22 months in December and this trip is 100% tailored to him. I am, of course, agonzinig over our room request. Any advice is hightly appreciated…

Are the ‘cribs,’ cribs? – There is a picture of a wooden mini crib, but does the YC also utilize pack and plays/ both? we would really like an actual crib, does that need to be a request? Since our son is a younger toddler, and I included the crib request in my reservation, do I also have to add it to our room requests or is this an automatic?

Disney reservations told me to call 10 days in advance to the YC and request the crib. Does this seem right?

This is our first trip with online booking as a possibility. I am really confused about whether to utilize this option. We would like a high floor and prefer a king bed. I am guessing I should not do online checkin in and just make sure my requests are listed on the reservation, correct? Also, is adding a non-connecting room too greedy?

We will fully take advantage of the balcony this trip when we put DS to bed. Is there anywhere to dock an IPod or Iphone for white noise? I can’t remember.

Also, can one of us run to the lounge, grab drinks and bring them back to the room? Do they let you leave the bar area with them?

Tarak –Thanks again. you responded to a post on another board about moving/getting a Haramony Babershop appointment. I decided I was going to call once a week until October and then more frequently to get an appointment. Well, the very first time I called there was an availability - for the day and time I was hoping to obtain. I think the system must have been down my initial change appointment call….

Thanks everyone!

:welcome: to the thread!!!

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list for December.

I haven't stayed at the resort with a toddler, so I can only rely on others experiences for your questions about cribs and activities to keep little ones entertained.

As far as I know, the YC and BC use cribs, not pack and plays, as pictured on Page 1. The villas may have pack and plays. But they may not. Can someone help us out here! If you have a phone number for the YC, go ahead and call to request the crib. Otherwise, I think you can request one from housekeeping.

I have a Windows phone, but I'm pretty sure the phone/clock radio in the room has an ipod dock.

Yes, you can get drinks from Hurricane Hanna's and bring it back to the room. :drinking1 Yay a question I can answer! Or partially answer. I'm not sure if you can take drinks out of the lounges- do they have "to go" cups? BUT, you can't bring drinks back to the resort from EPCOT, unless you rely on our handy dandy refill mug tip (see Post 14), which is arguably the best bit of info here on this thread!!!

For the request on the King bed, you need to add the request to your reservation. I believe there are only a few rooms with king beds at the resorts, so although asking for a non-connecting room is not "greedy", make sure you make it clear that the king bed request is the important one. "King bed, upper floor, please. Non-connecting room preferred"

I believe you can just show up at the campfire and you will be provided with sticks and a bag (4) marshmallows (each?) free of charge. If you want to make 'smores you need to bring/purchase the chocolate and graham crackers from the Marketplace.

We get to go drinks from Crew's Cup so we can enjoy the drinks on the veranda overlooking SAB.

My DD was a toddler at WDW in the days before iPhones. We kept her busy with those little containers of bubbles -- I blew them for her and other parents actually thanked me for providing entertainment for their kids, too. :) My friend said one matchbox car kept her son happy and quiet for a trans-Atlantic flight... Little toys like that can help, but sometimes toddlers are tired and don't mind resting on a shoulder during those lines. ;)

The BCV have pack 'n plays in all villas.
I thought that actual cribs were limited in number and first come first served and not guaranteed. I have read advice that if that is really important to you you should look into renting one from an offsite vendor. One that I have seen recommended is A Baby's Best Friend. They have a website, I believe it is www.abbf.com
Good Luck

:welcome: to the thread!

News about the YC refurb has not been announced officially by anyone at the resort/Disney. The best we can do is guess about the timetable based on the length of time of the recent BC renovations. The work on the lounge at the Beach Club took place from mid Aug to early/mid October, I think. So a couple of months. But the space of the lounge was expanded into a couple of guest rooms. We haven't heard if the same will be happening at the YC.

The lounge offerings are currently being served in the Presidential Suite at the YC. Same thing happened at the BC during the rehab.

Sometime after the lounge is done, the rooms on the club level (5th floor) will be worked on. The entire floor was closed while work on the rooms near the lounge (and maybe the whole floor?). I believe guests who had reservations at the BC CL at that time were given a choice of moving to YC CL, possibly downgrading to a regular room with a refund or to be moved to another resort.

A temporary lounge was set up in one of the other suites to accommodate guests who had deluxe rooms or suites not on the 5th floor until the lounge and 5th floor rooms were completed.

:thumbsup2

ETA: I see in your signature that you are staying in December. I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list we keep on Page 1.

Thank you for the information. I will just plan on going with the flow for our trip in early December. And also thank you for adding me to the Be Our Guest list. :)

It seems the discount %'s for 2016 are all varying for YC & BC. The AP discount was 30% YC and 20% BC for early Spring, and I noticed another post about a pin code with the same discount %'s for Jan - June 2016. When I booked our trip last Jan for this past July, the discounts for both resorts were the same. My thought is because the BC is refurbished now? What does everyone think? I was hoping for 30% off BC again this July but now I'm worried!

Leaving on Thursday for BC! *does jig in her office

Two questions:

1. I usually arrive early. This time we land at 8pm. Would online check in be helpful to avoid getting something like a horribly located room that is all that is left after everyone else requests to be moved?? These are the thoughts that go through my head.

2. Anyone know how late SAB has been open?

Tia!

I always do Online Check in . At least you have a chance of getting something you want. I have arrived at 10p-1am many times and never really had a problem.

I would like to know about SAB hours too! I will be there 11/14-15.

Looks like some nice hot weather too!:beach:

1. Rooms are assigned 2-3 days prior to your arrival so when you get there has no bearing on what room you get.

Unless someone who is checking in before your arrival decides they do not like their assigned room and your assigned room is reassigned to them--not that this has happened to us in the past. :rolleyes1:furious:

With more and more people getting their room numbers texted to then before they arrive this possibility has almost been eliminated.

I think there will be some that like online check in, other guests will prefer to check in at the hotel. It's hard to know the numbers either way. My best guess is that in the DIS posting group there are more online check-ins.

Last month, on average across all the resorts, 45% of all guests were able to Bypass The Front Desk.

Hi all!! We have never been to the Yacht Club and was wondering if there was amy particular area of the hotel to request our room location? We don't mind a walk to the quick service areas at all but would like to have a room that would have a nice view sinc this is our first time. We are booked in a standard thats why im asking. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Disney has had greater discounts for the YC many times lately. We've booked the YC instead of the BC for that exact reason in Sept of 2014. And that was before the BC refurb had started for most of the resort. I think the BC is just more popular and Disney can get people to spend more for it.

They'll have variable discounts for other deluxe resorts, too, depending on the season.
