Resort Thread Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB Resorts

Happy Thursday everybody.:goodvibes
We added a day to our trip in April at the YC. Southwest had a nonstop one day later so we grabbed it.
Now I need to figure out where we are going to eat that night. Decisions..Decisions...

I'm back with more room request questions! I called yesterday to request just a room with 2 queens and a day bed - since we have 3 adult women I didn't think that would be too crazy. The lady I spoke with told me that we would be getting a room with 1 queen bed and a twin sleeper chair?! Has anyone else been lucky enough to get this kind of room at the BC?

Does anyone know when the decorations and gingerbread displays usually go up? We leave next Thursday and was hoping the lobby would be decorated when we get there.

We went November 15th-22nd last year. They slowly added decorations during our visit. The Train set was setup in YC, but the gingerbread house wasn't setup at BC until the end of the trip.

I hadn't heard of any BC rooms with one queen and a sleeper chair, so I checked the website:

2 Queen Beds and 1 Day Bed or 1 Queen Bed and 1 Twin-Size Sleeper Chair and 1 Day Bed or 2 Queen Beds or 1 King Bed and 1 Day Bed or 1 King Bed

Sleeps up to 5 Adults

I didn't realize that they added sleeper chairs to some of the rooms. :confused3

The vast majority of rooms at the Beach Club have two queen beds. Many of those rooms also have daybeds, although I don't know the percentages. There are some rooms with king beds instead of two queens. I haven't heard of any rooms with just one queen bed and a sleeper chair. :confused3

There are studios with one queen bed and a sleeper sofa at the Beach Club Villas.

I have, #1523--it has a single fold out sleeper chair and a fold down day bed. Of course, that room does have both of the single sleeping options. I'm not sure that the single fold out chair would work for an adult--then again, we never tried it since it was only my husband and I each time we have gotten it. It is our favorite room there. :lovestruc I should note, however, that we have not had this particular room post-refurbishment--the sleeping configurations could be changed by now.

I have a question about Online Resort Check-In. Do you still utilize the service if you are staying on the concierge level? Thanks!

You can. Some do, some don't, many do a combo. If you don't, I think it helps to email the IPO. Let them know when (and how) you will be arriving. You can add room requests in this email, too.
Some people do both, online check in and then their specific room requests in an email.
Hope this helps.

I didn't realize that either... fingers crossed I get a real bed instead of a chair! lol

I think the room configuration (queen and a sleeper chair) would be a nice set up for a couple. However, with 3 adults, I don't really see a sleeper-chair working - maybe for a child but I'm thinking my 6 ft. tall body might need a footstool...

As others are talking about bedding in the rooms. The deluxe room, which I believe there are only 6 of, which list two queen beds and a daubed, since refurb they now no longer have a day bed. They have 2 queens and a queen pull out. I slept in the one at BC for 5 days and the one at CR for 7 days. These are not moms rev type pull out couches or the old ones grandma and my aunt had, they held me well, I slept well, and I had no back discomfort, even when I was very sick and uncomfortable, it was not the bed. I am large for my build and have had back problems, but these sofas were very comfortable. Hope that helps someone.

Scott, I'm sorry about the house problems. I made a reservation for the BC for next August, but I'm pretty sure it's not going to stick.

Actually, the killer-duller is the park tickets, and the recent rise in prices. If we took a "magical" trip, staying at BC or YC would be in the budget, and I found decent...not great, but decent airfare already. Sigh.

Enough loot to share with the 7 dwarfs!

:woohoo:

Just perfection.

Just booked my 2nd Yacht Club stay for 8 days in March 2016. I fall in the camp that Yacht and Beach Club are really just the same resort. We have had 4 stays on the Beach Club side.

We love the yacht / beach club mainly for being able to walk to 2 parks, 5 hotels, and at last count 30+ food and beverage choices not including the parks.

With 30+ trips to the world, we tend to go to the parks from 9:00am to 1:00pm, then do the afternoons at the pool before returning to the parks at night. So a good hotel experience is a must.

We are staying at the YC CL from Dec 6-14 (9 days). I have an AP and DH has a 7 day park hopper- when we get at Disney I want to upgrade this ticket to an AP. I've been trying to make FP reservations on day 8 of our vacation, but the system won't let me. Do you think its because of DH ticket on being 8 days? When can the people who are not staying on property get to make FP reservations? Maybe I'll have to wait.

Wowza....LOOOOOONNNNNG time no post.

I hope you all are well. The last time I posted, we were in the process of selling our home, and it only wrapped up about 10 days ago! It was a complete nightmare from start to finish, and it zapped some of the fun out of buying our new home...but not all the fun. We are head over heels for our new home, and are in the process of looking for artwork to hang. Buying a house was a snap...selling it...possibly the most stressful thing I've ever gone through.

Unfortunately, we took a hit of close to 10K in selling the house, so at the moment, a 2016 WDW trip still isn't in the cards, and we're making peace with it. What's helping is that during the time we'd plan to go, it seems as if our favorite restaurant (Flying Fish) will be down for refurb, as will one of our favorite rides (Soarin'), and from the last time I read here, it looks like our very beloved Teena will no longer employed by the BC. For us...that means that most of our favorite things will not be available to us. This makes it a bit easier to take a year off, but of course, it's still sad.

I hope all my BC/YC friends are well. I don't always post all that much when there's no trip planned, but I will drop in and out from time to time. I'm very excited to see what the YC refurb looks like as it unfolds.

Dee....HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Teena...still thinking of you.
Congrats on your new home, but sorry you took that hit. I agree a trip to WDW just won't be the same without Teena.

Found a builder and house we love. Shooting for it to be ready July 15. Bittersweet.

Tonight is trick or treating ...I'll make sure Dee hass plenty of pictures of our princess!!!
Glad you found something you like. But July 15? Couldn't you make it for late Aug :-(.
Love the Halloween costumes!! They both look great!

It's the same across all properties. If you check out the food blog they have pictures from all angles which shows all the resorts. Yacht and Beach are symbolised by the lighthouse at the boat dock.
Yes, I saw the pics on the good blog. I like them except maybe they could have had different resort signs, like all the Epcot resorts on the sign to sell at those resorts, and the MK resorts on the sign for those resorts, etc. Lots of people are asking for resort specific mugs again. So while that wouldn't be a different mug for each resort, a grouping of resorts would work too. I think Disney dropped the ball on that one.

I need to catch up on a few pages, hopefully I can do that sometime tomorrow or Saturday.

My understanding is that the resorts are all entered into a lottery that determines when they will be decorated. I think that the resort decorations start to go up in early November and the last resort is done by Thanksgiving. I believe it was last year that the Beach Club (and Yacht Club?) were picked last and were the last resorts decorated.

:santa:

Park ticket prices have gotten completely out of hand, I think. Several years back, when I had fewer kids and more disposable income, I bought several passes through UT. After January, I have enough passes left for one more trip as a family of six. We likely won't all go back until Star Wars land opens, and who knows when that will happen. I dread to think of what six park passes would cost us in four or five years.

As a Follow up to an earlier discussion- am here now- magic band was not scannedto get into storm along bay- I was wearing it and they asked me where I was staying I said the villas and they let me in- it did not look like they had any scanners - I did have my DVC tag on my band

We do similar. I like to book my fp+ for the evenings.

My family prefers mono resorts so I am excited to try bwi and bc this coming week.

My husband likes a scotch in the evening. We have tried the bar next to Yachtsman are any of the others as nice? We usually go to the tambu lounge(poly) or Mizners(gf).

The Crews Cup Lounge next to the Yachtsman is one of our favorite places to eat a light dinner or lunch. The food is really good. The bar at the BC has nice chairs and couches to relax at and it is open to the hall so you can see outside. They are supposed to have entertainment on Friday and Saturday nights. And Hurricane Hanna's has a very nice pool bar.

The Boardwalk has a bar just off the lobby which looks nice.

Some people who thought they could never stay anywhere except a monorail resort will really like the Epcot resort area.

Your trip is really close. I hope you have a great time. :)
