Resort Thread Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB Resorts

page 132-135

@catho72 Thank you so much for the pictures. You are really selling me on picking this resort over The Boardwalk.

:welcome: to this thread!

Let us know if you do end up booking at the Beach Club...

:goodvibes:

19 days for me too! Can not wait, we will be celebrating DD's sweet sixteen birthday. We are bringing her best friend along who has never been so it will be nice to experience Disney through her eyes! Also it has been an awful summer for us; my mom was diagnosed with Stage 3 breast cancer and has been undergoing chemo which has really beat her up. Luckily the prognosis is good but it is going to be a year long journey. So with her blessing we are still go to Disney and we are looking forward to escaping reality for the week!!! YC here we come!!!!

:welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list we keep on Page 1.

:cool1:

Along with the others, I am sending along my wishes for a successful treatment and recovery for your mom.

:grouphug:

I've seen several mention no more towel animals anymore. Wondering where this info came from? Resort wide or only @ Y&B club? Thanks!

I don't remember where I have seen it (I think I looked over on the Theme park subforum) or maybe it was on another thread on the Resort subforum, but seems to be all WDW resorts.

::yes::

Forgive me if this has been asked before but after looking through many pages I didn't see anything. How does the club level at YC compare to club level rooms at BC, in terms of views, location to things, etc? Also, how do the club lounges compare in terms of food, drink, convenience, service and decor? Booking our vacation, I was able to get a club level room at YC with a better view for quite a bit less than at BC. Now I am having second thoughts as I have read some negative comments on regular rooms but nothing on club level. Thanks!

:welcome:

I haven't ever been in the YC lounge, but I'll attempt to answer your questions.

I don't think either have views to write home about, although I'm not sure if I have ever asked about the YC view. If someone is staying there soon, could you snap a picture of the view from the YC lounge???

Location- I think both lounges are equally convenient to their respective resort lobbies (and therefore transportation and Stormalong Bay). So I would give the BC lounge the edge here since that means it is closer to The Beach Club Marketplace.

Both the YC and BC lounge staff are part of the same resort, same management, same food and drink offerings, I believe.

As far as décor, the BC lounge (and rooms) were recently renovated and are brand-spanking new and elegant. BC lounge is larger now, I think.

On the rooms themselves, the YC rooms have full balconies but some of the BC rooms just have smaller Juliet balconies.

Lots of pictures on Page 1 of this thread of room décor, the lounges as they currently appear, etc.

:)

I have a question about a late check in. We are arriving on August 20th for our first visit to WDW! I have requested higher floor and close to the lobby, and I am wondering if arriving in the evening will affect our chances of getting the room requests. Do you think doing online check in is a good idea in this case? Also, when I booked our trip I did not mention that I will be celebration my birthday during this trip. Is there any advantage to having that included in our reservation?

:welcome: to this thread and posting on the DIS.

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list. BC or YC?

:cool1:

With those requests, I think doing online checkin is a good idea, because it will get you on your way to your room quicker. In fact, you probably won't even have to stop at checkin desk since they will text you your room number and your Magic Band will be programmed to open your door. However if upon arrival if you plan on asking if there is another room assignment available if your room requests are not met, I would suggest you do not do the online checkin. Rooms are generally assigned a few days in advance, so it shouldn't matter whether you have a late checkin or not.

I can't remember if the resort still hands out Birthday buttons upon checkin if you have noted it on the reservation. I think they discontinued the practice. I don't know that there is an advantage, but it can't hurt. Pixie Dust is random and may or may not be influenced by celebrations noted on your reservation.

36 days till the trip...why does this remind me of when I was a kid waiting for Xmas?

Ummm, because it sounds like an AWESOME trip???

:cheer2:

The construction that none of the CM's seem to know about at WL is on the first floor of the south wing facing the villas pool. They are supposedly turning regular rooms into DVC rooms. No one has reported any jack hammering or loud noise from there lately. The real construction doesn't start until Oct 26th, so you should be fine.

We walked by the rooms from the outside and could hear power saws running I don't know if they could be heard inside because we didn't walk in that area.

I snabbed this photo from a previous post. Does anyone know if they sell these prints?

BUMP!

In the Other Useful Info post (Post 14) I have listed a couple of resources, but neither one of them had any info about this picture and in fact did not have much BC/YC related décor offered

If someone is staying at the BC soon (I'll be there in August), could you look in your room's welcome info folder to see if they still have the resorts collections catalog.

What is that awesome smell at the Beach Club? Where can I purchase the bath products used at the Yacht Club?
I've never slept better in my life- can I buy the mattress?

Yes!!!

Want to feel like you are living at the Yacht or Beach Club all year long??? You can purchase the body products provided for use during your stay, you can buy the same type of mattress that encourages restful vacation sleep and you can even purchase the scent system used in the lobbies so that your house can smell like your "Home away from home":

Check out the Disney Resort Collection for bedding and bath products (h2oProducts, Aquatics line)
www.disneyresortcollection.com

According to cindydare you may want to check out Beyond Down Pillows by Carpenter.
One of the few places that carries them is Belk Dept. Stores in the Southeast.

Another website I have seen mentioned is Own the Magic. I don't have any direct information about this source.

I can't begin to describe how happy I am about the pineapple (Dole) Whips at BC. I can't have ice cream or yogurt, so this is perfect news for me!! I always feel like I'm eating my own scoop of "ice cream" at MK....now I can have one at the pool!!!!

Great news about the Dole Whip by the pool! That's definitely an improvement!

One question... since the frozen treats are being sold in that area where they had the noodles/floats, does that mean they don't sell or rent those anymore? Or did they just move them?

They actually haven't used that as a pool gift shop for awhile (couple of years?). The floats are now available in the lazy river free of charge. If you want to purchase things like pool noodles, you can get them in the BC Marketplace. Keys are no longer needed for the poolside lockers- you program in a code.

The area was office space for the recreation department for awhile.

I can totally get behind this use of the space!

:goodvibes:

I got a great deal on a Garden/woods view at the Beach Club and was able to add a day to our trip! Could you please change our Be Our Guest day to 11/28/15-12/4/15. Thanks!!!

Will do! Congrats!

:thumbsup2

Was just reading a thread about the Yacht Club rooms really needing a refurb, and that they are really run down. Can anyone ease my mind about this? I would imagine it's just a few rooms that are run down, but I can't picture a "deluxe" resort having major issues. The original poster was mentioning, marker marks on the wall, peeling brass, and wallpaper???

We've stayed there 3 times in the past 2 1/2 years, and our room has never felt worn down at all. Is there minor wear and tear due to tremendous turnover? Sure. If the room isn't up to your liking, go to the front desk, don't pick up the phone, and tell them! I'm sure they will fix it if they can, or move you to a room without the issues if they can't!

Wouldn't it make a ton of sense if they did? Because it would make so much sense, I'm sure they don't.

According to Erika's live report pictures it looks like the infamous dole whip float has made its way to BC!

There is a while frozen treat section where they used to rent the tubes and sold the noodles

Dole whips and the new frozen sunken treasures - can this trip get any better?

Wowie, wow wow!
I mean....if Lefou's Brew showed up....it'd all be perfect.
Actually...now you could buy your Dole Whip, and if you've brought a supply of "Happy Juice," you could spike it.
Just saying...

This news and Erika's pictures just rocked my morning!!!

What a GREAT use of this building that used to sell pool supplies!

I did not get a Dole Whip during the June class trip (didn't even make it into Adventureland with Pirates closed) and didn't anticipate having one in August since I won't be making it to MK.

To celebrate, here are some dancing bananas since I don't have any dancing pineapples

:banana::banana::banana:

This is great news for my trip next week! Now I just need to decide between Dole Whips or Beaches & Cream. I think I will need one in the afternoons and the other in the evenings! This is turning into the best vacation ever!!

I know Capt. (Admiral?) Salty would be hanging in a prominent place in your living room if you were able to buy the artwork!

:lmao:

That's one way to go... but I need to edit my post. Erika reports that you can get it spiked with alcohol, too!

You can look at this an another reason you have to make plans to go back, even if you were just there. ;) (As evidenced by my question earlier this morning, I have a similar reason... it's been a few years for us).

I am at BCV now looking at the resort collections catalog. I see bed runner, mickey logo linens, hotel robes,H2O bath supplies, accent pillows, and coffee. No artwork.
