Resort Thread Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB Resorts

page 105-107

Not caught up at all but a little something for our Queen D.

Thanks for thinking of me!!! Love those pancakes!!!

:cloud9:

We are heading back to the Beach Club 12/29/15 to 1/6/16. We had resies at CSR but the crowds of New Years scared us into upgrading to our 2nd stay at BC. It was worth the extra $$$ to have a resort DH and DD can walk to from Epcot or HS if the crowds start to get to them!

I will also be staying at POP 1/6-1/10 with my niece as we participate in our first Disney Half Marathon early that Saturday!

So excited!!!

:welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list.

:woohoo:

Just kidding, of course!!!

Those two PLEASE!!!!

re: Captain's Grille Breakfast

I have probably already pointed you to this, or you have seen it, but there are a few reviews of breakfast at Captain's Grill (including mine) on Page 1, Dining Post (7?)

A little disappointing since I was hoping to stay in a newly refurbed 1 bedroom villa for my honeymoon in April. So to my Disney pros out there, what would you do in my situation? Currently have a garden view at the YC booked for April 2016 for my honeymoon. When spring discounts come out in December we hope to be able to get a discounted room at the YC, BC or BCV. I've never been to Disney, she has never stayed at the YC/BC/BCV. What would you all suggest would be a better choice? A refurbed room at either the YC or BC? Or a 1 bedroom villa at the BCV? Like i've said previously in this thread our reason for wanting the 1 bedroom villa is because the larger walk-in shower, jacuzzi and larger space overall seemed more honeymoon-like. Would you all suggest though that a nicer refurbed room would out weigh these benefits for a honeymoon?

I think you said that maybe you can swing CL. I would suggest YC Club Level (although I have never been).

If the YC rehab starts as scheduled this fall and work begins up on the 5th floor, then the club level rooms should be brand new by April. YC is nice because all rooms (except one) have a full balcony. I don't think renovations should impact you at all if you are there since they will be on lower floors and you will be zooming right by on the elevator to and from the 5th floor.

:goodvibes:

Out of the blue night before last availability opened up in the same room category as our package at YC, so I moved us over and we are now staying at YC for our entire trip 11/7-13. (Dee when you get a chance could you update me on the BOG list pretty please?) I'm a tiny bit sad about missing out on AKL (and club level!) but my husband kept rolling his eyes at the idea of a split stay and really wasn't enthusiastic about the idea of club level, and when I looked at the meals we have booked (they're almost all character buffets, and were all requested by someone in the family) it really doesn't make sense to move up to club level this trip so we'll stick with our free dining package. So for anyone who's keeping track this trip has gone from a solo 3-night trip at POFQ to a family 5-night trip at POR, then to WL, then to YC, then AKL/YC, to 6 nights at YC. I have problems lol!

Will do!

:)

LIVE REPORT!!!!

I'm sitting at SAB while typing this. We've been here since 9:15am and it's a gorgeous day. It rained (ok, it poured) earlier this morning around 10:30 but now it's sunny and beautiful! We again had lunch from HH (cheeseburgers, pulled pork and a chicken sandwich). Yummy as always!

Dinner at Cape May was delicious! The only thing we tried that we didn't care for were the pistachio carrots. Those were different. But the pistachio cheesecake was out of the world! Delicious! Our waitress was excellent. My daughter was wearing her birthday button and our waitress brought her a cupcake and a birthday card signed by the Fab Five. So sweet!

The club level offerings are pretty much the same as last year's with the addition of grits for breakfast. The lounge is so much more spacious than it was previously. The CM who walked is to the fifth floor after getting off ME told us it's the largest CL lounge on property. Cool! Wait! There is s new potato chip they have too. The old one is still there with the dip. YUMMY!!!!!

Tonight we are going to MGM. Yay!

Thank you!!!

BREAKING NEWS!!!!!

This is big!

Are you sitting down?

Guess what my husband and son just got from the takeout window at Beaches and Cream?

Milkshakes.

And they were able to use a SNACK CREDIT!

I guess that letter writing campaign was successful! If only they would allow the unwashed masses from SAB to shower in the spa/health club again.....

THANKS for the "heads up"..YUM..GREAT use of snack credit!:thumbsup2 ENJOY your trip!:bounce:

Hi all!
We are back from our 2 week WDW vacation that ended with a week at BC CL! It was an amazing vacation with many, many, many memories made and lots of pixie dust! After our week at the Poly CL (where we were upgraded to a LGV from GV at check-in - we could see the 4th of July fireworks from our patio!) We weren't expecting much in the way of upgrades... but we were pleasantly surprised with a 1 bedroom suite upgrade from a GV CL room at the BC! We were in room 3501 - so not on the 5th floor and quite a hike to the lounge and pool... they were doing construction on the 2nd floor under us (which is why they gave this room as an upgrade) - we did hear construction noise during the day - never before 9am and never after 4pm - it was noticeable but it was not constant - We had some issues with AC because the fuse was tripped and some issues on day 1 with our MB's (but it seemed like there were quite a few people with issues that day at the desk getting them resolved) - now, even with the "issues" that I mention, we weren't phased by any of it! We loved the extra space - we had an extra large balcony, we could see the Illuminations fireworks from one side of the room and the Frozen fireworks from the other side... they put drinks in our fridge for us on day 1 as well as fresh flowers - room was always cleaned nicely and quickly - turn down service was excellent as well - we loved SAB (of course!) and walking to Epcot and HS - we also enjoy walking over to the Boardwalk... the CL lounge was gorgeous and CM's there were extremely friendly - met Chris the chef and talked with him on multiple occasions - all the CM's were so approachable and fawned all over DD4! Loved the food there (better than the Poly food offerings we felt)!! Can't wait to start planning our split stay for next summer there again! LOVED it!

Let me know if you have any questions! :-)

Thanks to all on this board for your information and reports - I plan to hang around and continue reading this thread to get me pumped up for next summer!

Thank you so much for this review!!!

Any chance you have pictures from the room. I haven't seen any photos from the newly refurbished suites. If you do and you don't mind either posting them or emailing them to me I would appreciate it!!! beachclubdee at yahoo

So glad to hear you will be sticking around!!!

:goodvibes:

So besides Epcot, what are the best ts (not signature) in the area. This is for a family of 5 with 3 dd who are all beginning to try different things. Having said that I have a food intolerance so anything tomato based os out.

Teena just raved about her meal at the new Trattoria at Boardwalk. We like both Cape May and Captain's Grille

:thumbsup2

BTw: this is the best thread on Disboards!

Awww... thank you!

And thank you, and ALL of you here who make it so!

CG always looks so dark and dingy in pics I've seen! I think I need to try it to make my own mind up!

How Americana of you! I need to book a field trip there with my children....maybe next school year?

:offtopic:

OK, more off topic, but @Scott MC we definitely should talk!

I am so proud of the programs we offer at the farm- we have them for all grades, they are hands-on for the students and very well done if I do say so myself.

Plus. Goats!

Dirt Detectives- an archeology program where we explore the 300 year old manor house and the kids dig in an actual pit set up by BU archeologists

In Search of a Story- historical fiction. We explore the house and farm while the kids collect character, setting and language ideas for their own historical fiction stories

Family Ties- Immigration

and of course

A Day at the Farm- did I mention goats? (and a horse, donkey, two ginormous pigs, sheep and roosters)

Our programs are fairly reasonable per student and you are a short bus ride away.

:teacher:

Happy Friday!

It's a good day! Our trip is paid in full:dance3:

Quick question....this has probably been asked a hundred times, but I'm gonna ask again. If we have a standard view room at the YC, what area should we request? We are going for a long weekend (Labor Day) which is usually a slow time. I'm hoping not to be at the end of one of those long halls. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated..

Thanks!!!!

I do have pictures - I will email them to you soon so that you can feel free to use - I even took some pictures of the fireworks we could see as well. Loved the room - although 1 odd thing... the door to the part of the bathroom with the tub and toilet wasn't aligned properly - and every time you opened it up, it actually hit the toilet! There was a groove already cutting into the door from the edge of the toilet! Seems like a silly mistake they made!

Maybe "Close to Lobby" or "Close to Lobby Elevator"

Chocolate is the best! We have a ton of SAB time built in. DD fell in love with it during our girl's weekend last September. She insisted we stay at BC again! Let me know what days to look out for you from the 30th to the 12th.

Sundays and Mondays from 9 am to 5:20 pm.

Tarak - I didn't realize our trips overlap! We will be there August 20-31!

We have an ADR for flying fish on the 20th but don't have any other real plans other than hanging out and maybe going to parks for a bit. I'd love to meet up for a drink at night or even breakfast one morning!

Thank goodness things turned out OK!

Yes to the losing sight for a few minutes-my middle was ~2 1/2 when we went to visit friends in TX-was visiting with our former neighbors-child came and got a bit of my apple. I made her chew and swallow in front of me-at least I thought she had. She took off with older sis exploring house and suddenly came running back to us from another room. She was running weird-like she was being pushed-she stopped in front of me and collapsed. She was blue. turned out she choked on that bite of apple. Thank heavens one of the hospitals I had worked at insisted ALL staff be CPR certified- and I managed to get the piece dislodged and she started breathing and pinked back up. I still remember screaming inside my head "NO" as all I could see was a cold/blue/lifeless child. I cannot even begin to imagine those parents of the child who drowned emotions and heartache...well actually I can but then all I want o do is curl up and cry for them...
So there is my bad mommy story where I was distracted and it almost cost me my child's life. It really can happen quickly. And I think most parents have a similar story where things turned out OK. Perhaps those who haven't yet experienced that heart stopping terror feel secure enough to judge...I don't know. As to the weird way she was running-I am not really religious at all but I do believe she had a guardian angel pushing her. If she hadn't collapsed in front of me we wouldn't have found her in time...

How incredibly scary. My youngest chocked on a piece of bread once. I grabbed her and just whacked her on the back until it came out (she was too young for the Heimlich maneuver). It popped right out but that was not fun. I don't think I gave her bread again for another year.

I love love love Wilderness Lodge. The lobby is simply amazing. Love exploring all the hidden seating areas and I love the landscaping. I'm so glad we stayed there in April!

Everyone eating breakfast at BOG, you get one pastry basket for every party of two. The pastries were very good! We considered sharing, but our girls are older and I'm glad we did not. Enjoyed it and I'd do it again!

That's right - I forgot about the pastries. We'll definitely have plenty of food for her.

THANKS for the "heads up"..YUM..GREAT use of snack credit!:thumbsup2 ENJOY your trip!:bounce:

I can't remember if I read the suggestion in this thread or somewhere else. But I think a snack credit plan would be fabulous. I could easily just eat my meals that way.

Has there been any information yet about what the new YC rooms will look like? Or do we first find that kind of stuff out when they actually start doing the refurb and people snap some picture?

I would love to meet up for a Sunken Treasure! Are you staying CL? If so, maybe we can meet up in lounge

I think the pastries at BOG are one plate for ever 4 people? I'm sure you'll still have plenty though!

I haven't seen any previews or samples of the Yacht Club design.

As you suspect, we see the rooms when guests provide pictures. So whenever people have their first stays, sometime in early winter most likely.

:)

Hey all thinking of switching over to the YC for out sept trip. Dates would be 9-1 to 9-8. Will the rehab be started at that time? Is there any construction or other rehabs going on that I need to be aware of? Thanks!!

We don't know for sure, but I doubt there will be much happening in that timeframe at the Yacht Club.

As far as a timeline, we have been told the YC renovation will start when the BC work is complete, and that is still going on. As far as we know, that refurb is on schedule to be completed in late August, early September.

We believe work at the YC will start on the 5th floor, so if you are not staying club level, the probability that you would be impacted at all by the planned refurb in early September is VERY slim.

No other construction that we know about.

Check out the first post of this thread for the latest info.

Received email this morning saying our Magic Bands have been shipped. I immediately showed it to my husband & as I was squeeling with delight, he told me that this is the most excited he has seen me for one of our Disney trips. I said, "that's because we're staying at the YC!!!" I've always wanted to stay there, but we could never afford it, so have always stayed at moderates. Now thanks to our Magical agent, we will be there in a month! Beyond excited!!!
