Resort Thread Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB Resorts

LIVE REPORT: At SAB now. It's very UNcrowded here. Rocky took our lunch order and our meal was delicious. We arrived at SAB around 11:15 and was able to get a table. Truly remarkable! We come every year and this is most definitely the least crowded I've ever seen the resort.

Our room wasn't ready upon check-in but my sister-in-law's family's was. The renovations are beautiful! I received the text that our room was ready at 12:30. Our request for a daybed was honored and we have a large balcony. I haven't seen the room yet.

The skies are darkening and rain will start in the next 30 minutes or so.

Cape May is where we'll be having dinner tonight then we're going to go to bed. I've been awake since 2:15am Chicago time. And I only had about 2.5 hours of sleep.

That's definitely worth a few emoticons!!! I just started adding them to everyone reporting a Honeymoon or Anniversary, but I haven't gone back to add them to listings that were already there unless I noticed.

Do not even go back and make more work for urself!! Ur MM pictures are waiting to be edited!!!
Your thread is always so useful. Everytime I visit another resort thread I'm so disappointed in the lacking info!!

I know we have a lot of folks here who are big fans of the WL and I am always hearing how personal the service is (especially at club level).
Dee - you should take a tour of the WL in August. The best way to see it is to take the bus to MK and then get on the boat to WL. You really need to see the lodge from the water. The boat is one of the best things about staying at the WL. Tour the lobby and go up to the fourth floor, which is actually the first balcony level above the lobby. There are lovely sitting areas around the lobby on that level, including a very comfy area with a sofa and fireplace, a huge balcony over the front door - looking at the parking lot, another balcony overlooking the courtyard and Bay Lake, and some displays of artifacts. In fact, there are artifacts hanging around all over the place. Then head off to the villas building and check out the Carolina Pacific room. It has memorabilia from Walt Disney's home, including one of the little railroad cars from the train he had at his California home. That room has the comfiest leather rocking chairs ever and the most whimsical firescreen in all of WDW. DH and I like to lounge around there, and we've even played a few games of Chinese checkers. :)

Then you can walk down the nature trail to Fort Wilderness and visit the horse stables and just basically check it all out. You can either go back to MK via boat, or hop on an internal bus if you want to see a little more of the campground. It really is an interesting way to spend time when you don't have park tickets. :)

And you may want to see the Wilderness Lodge before they tear the place up. They are rebuilding my favorite villas pool and adding 24 little cabins along the edge of the lake. The construction work starts oct 26th. :( The main building will be unchanged, thank goodness.

Sounds perfect! We are having dinner at Cape May in our last night so can't wait to hear your review!

So sad about the drowning. :(

Hmmm. I would consider sharing a meal, but I didn't think we could. The dinner and lunch menus just don't appeal to us, but I think it would be neat to have a meal there.
My kids will enjoy the kid choices and the castle....we pick dining for experience (early park entry, castle, variety, etc.) over food usually at Disney. I know we won't go hungry! Good luck with the FP+ next week!

Are you eating at Hurricane Hannah's? Is that where you eat at SAB? Our plan is to lunch/SAB after we arrive in the morning, but I wasn't sure where to eat.

I can almost smell the air (what with all the lotions, soaps, and candles I have purchased). Where did you get lunch? How did you know the room has a daybed and large balcony without seeing the room? Cape May! Café is on our ADR list too - so save me some crab legs. I was wondering if the deep fried cod nuggets are always on the kiddie bar?

Yay!!!! Pictures are on there way!! Have a fantastic trip!!!!

I tried uploading one of the storm clouds but the file was too large. I'll have to figure the new photo posting out. I'm on my iPhone. Does anyone know if I am better off using photobucket?

Thank you!!!! It feels great to be home!

I agree! More SAB tomorrow!

Yes, HH is where we had lunch. You can either get it yourself from the window or order from a waitress. Rocky is a longtime favorite!

When we checked in our CM told us that we had a daybed when I asked him if there was a daybed in our room. And he also told us the room had a full balcony. I honestly don't remember requesting a large balcony since a daybed is more important to us since we are a family of five.

It's almost 4 so I'm being kicked out of the CL lounge. It's so beautiful in here since the refurb. More later!

Hi there!! DD starts her DCP in August, so we are taking Autotrain with her car, staying at POFQ for a week so we can be available for shopping trips and moving in etc, then flying home. DH told me to add the weekend, since it is my birthday, so we decided to try the Yacht Club for two nights. We've always stayed at the Dolphin or POFQ, so we don't know what to expect at the Yacht Club. Any suggestions? :-)

We are on the Magical Express en route to BC! Woo hoo!!!!!!!!

We just back to the resort from Epcot! We were thinking about heading down to SAB but we are beat from the sun and rain all morning. Enjoy your dinner!

Just a note, the stairs only go to the third floor, so if you're staying on the fourth floor you have to do a lot of zig zagging. Couple options:
- go in the secret entrance, take the stairs to the third floor, when you get to the T in the hallway that says elevators to the left, go right. The stairs will be at the end of that hall to go up to the fourth floor.
- if you pass the secret door outside, there's a second door (which is where we come out when we take the stairs down from the fourth floor,) but we haven't been able to get our MBs to let us in from the outside.

That's funny! I actually found that other secret entrance when I stayed last August (I had a room on the 4th floor). But I really, really stink at directions, so I haven't attempted to describe where this is or how to use it. I did take a couple of pictures, though. It lets you out in between BCV and BC, right?

Reading all of the posts as we (DH and myself)are heading to the Beach Club 4/10-4/16 2016, can not wait. Got a taste of the area on our 2 night stay at Yacht Club in April this year. Loved the pool and the location.
