Disney's WILDERNESS LODGE Information & Questions

@Wood Nymph has given you some good advice. Hardly a reliable source, but in November I had a CL CM tell me there had been talk of making the 6th floor CL as well at some point. This would seem to make sense given how many CL rooms they removed with the DVC conversion, but who knows. I guess we'll see!

Also FWIW, I just wanted to say that we LOVED the new lounge. It's one of the best CL lounge spaces on property, hands down. The CL food offerings were also very, very good. It definitely ranks as my personal #1 or #2 CL food we've had in our travels in the last year or so.

So aside from the negative of the enclosed balcony, you have the positive of a very nice lounge space and good, yummy food.

I posted a bunch of photos on the CL thread, I can find that link if needed. It was late November last year.

Thanks, I recall seeing your photos on the CL thread. They may even have been the 'push' I needed. :)

Yes, the "Boulder Ridge Villas" are the original "VWL" villas on the South side of the main building, over near the bus stops. The pool over there is the one being replaced with a much bigger one as part of the construction project. The "Copper Creek Villas" are the villas in the main building and the new cabins along the water.

Congratulations! With the QSDP at Moderates, WL becomes an even better deal. We enjoy the Port Orleans resorts, but absolutely love WL, especially for a honeymoon! We had ours at WL in 2007 and it has been our favorite resort ever since. We'll be there in August as well, just 107 days away...
THanks! we will be booking for April 13-20th 2018!

The club level rooms are on the 7th floor, which means an enclosed balcony, except for the deluxe rooms, which are at the end of the wing. There are club level rooms on both the courtyard side and the loading dock side. I don't like the enclosed balconies, either.

I've heard that they plan to give club level access to rooms on other floors, so that people who want a club level room but don't want the enclosed balcony, would be able to book a room that was not on the 7th floor. The CM said that it would be a guaranteed bookable category, but so far I haven't seen any information that confirms that Disney plans to do this. I would keep watching the booking categories and see if they add this option.

Thanks, we arrive on June 9th so probably to soon for any official changes. Personally I would trade moving down a floor from the lounge if it meant having an open balcony. Still, I'm looking forward to it regardless.

:)

With the construction at Roaring Forks (construction walls were mentioned somewhere), are the elevators affected or the foot traffic coming & going to the pool/boat dock diverted?

I used a PIN that I received via email and moved us to WL from Coronado. Even with the continued refurbishment, I couldn't stay away! We stayed last summer during the construction and had no issues. We simply book standard view, and make no room request. This is the only resort where I totally wing it, because it's just the 2 of us and we make it our completely flexible trip (not the same when we take the family!). Love it here, just wondering what to expect. Trip is scheduled July 13-18. Thank you for your input!

With the changes in security, where is security for those using the boat from WL to AK? I thought I read that security had been moved closer to the buses for those using buses, monorail guests now go through before getting on monorail...so just wondering if it changed for those arriving by boat?

Only change of security is for guests going to MK. No other park is affected.

If you mean WL to MK the screening is at the MK arrival dock area. FW/WL boat dock has it's own screening. Poly/GF has it's own.

Nothing related to Roaring Forks affects the elevators or the boat dock/walk way to boats.

The only thing affected is the wheel chair/ECV entrance. That's closed and you have to enter at the end of the wing and go down the hall inside the resort.

You could always request a lower floor when you check in and see if they are able to accommodate you. I would be willing to consider club level only if it meant I could have the open balcony. We have had a dormer balcony room twice and really don't want to experience it again. :(

Are the enclosed balconies only on the 7th floor?

No. 6th floor too, at least in part of it.

Yes, the enclosed balconies are on the top floor of any section of the resort. On the West (lobby) end this is the 7th (club level) floor. On the East ends of the wings (closer to the lake) the 6th floor is the top and has enclosed balconies. This occurs for rooms 6004-6034. Higher number rooms on the 6th floor have open balconies.

Looking for some advice on room requests staying Club Level in a standard room. Am I correct in saying that I will be on the 7th floor which means a definite dormer/enclosed balcony ? I'm really not that keen on an enclosed balcony at all. Also, if I am correct all the CL standard rooms seem to be situated directly above the loading bay. I'm a light sleeper and feel that could also be an issue. WL is our favorite resort and its our first time CL but the room options are looking less and less appealing

Any advice appreciated

"Standard" is the only regular room booking (besides deluxe) for CL. You would have to note in your room requests if you wanted courtyard. I am not sure if king and bunkbed are available on the current version of the 7th floor.

I guess I am in a minority in that I didn't mind the enclosed balcony the two times we stayed here. I also requested being on the Villas side because I wanted a king bed room, so view wasn't as important to me, just quiet. Since that area is now gone for CL I am not sure what my requests will be this year. I am just pumped to be back at WDW and staying CL to celebrate my "decade change" birthday :-). I think as of now I will just let the room assigner pick for me.

Has anyone seen if and when flag family is returning? Did the movement of the CL lounge change the access to the roof area? I remember the entry way being in that general area or at least that side of the lobby

I thought the enclosed balcony would bother me more than it did. I don't love it but you can still see standing so it wasn't bad. Plus, I have the misfortune of being just the right height so that when I sit on the chairs they provide my line of sight is right at top rail level, even on an open balcony, so I have to either stretch up in my seat or slouch down, so I can look over or under the top rail. May as well stand

Since we're on the subject of WL CL room views/requests, do any of you have any suggestions as to what to requests to put in for a deluxe room? My mom mentioned she liked the ground floor rooms with patios, but she has difficulty walking long distances, so I'm iffy about the hike to the CL lounge for her. My dad hated the dormer balcony last time we stayed at a standard CL room. (My brother's impartial because his sister's treating him to a trip to WDW, lol.) So I'm essentially torn between requesting a fifth floor room or a ground floor room. Really wish those south wing courtyard rooms weren't closed...

We stayed in a Deluxe Room back in November. I'll try not to candy coat this, but the Deluxe Rooms are pretty much the furthest possible rooms from a lot of things, including the main lobby and CL lounge. This map can help.

#1 and #2 are the location of the Deluxe Rooms on each floor, floors 1-6. #3 is the elevator. #4 is the location of the CL lounge on the 7th floor, which overlooks the main lobby. My average walk times from room to lounge were in the 2:30ish range. I was on the third floor, but it would be a roughly similar experience from the other possible floors, generally speaking.

As far as room requests, I guess I'd vote for a higher floor - but they are all pretty much the same. I would rather have #2 in the pic below. Our room was #1 and we found the geyser noise a bit annoying (granted we had a little one who decided she didn't want to sleep much on that trip, so we were likely more sensitive to outisde noise than most).

Here's a view looking straight out from our room. Again, this was from the third floor. The trees are super tall here so I'm not sure if being higher would have any benefit??

Question regarding this, do you think this would be too high for a height challenged kid to see out from? The views from 6024 look real nice but I'd rather just take the chance on requesting one floor down if it's gonna be a hassle of standing on chairs or lifting and holding a 60 pounder for several minutes.

Thanks for your input and map/view reference! It was your November post that inspired me to first take the WL plunge back in February! (I must've skipped right over the part abt the deluxe room and gone straight to the food pics.)

From the sound of it, these rooms remind me of that time I payed for a preferred room at ASMu and got stuck at the far end of Jazz -__-

Will request a X000 room then, considering 3rd floor after seeing your pics. Again, the walk time does seem like a nuisance, but it's always fun to roam and wander a resort like the WL. Do you happen to have any other room-specific pics?

edit: Does the room being off the main CL floor affect turndown service? I keep getting this feeling like, "How will the pillow chocolate faeries find me??"
