Disney's WILDERNESS LODGE Information & Questions

Boats start 30 min before park opening so if you have a PPO ADR you'll need to bus or Uber anyway.

I've never had an issue with the boats but things happen. A guest needs extra time to board, they have to wait for the ferry boat to pass, etc. if you feel like the wait is too long you can boat to Contemporary and walk.

I'm curious about this rate too. I've never seen an $800/night rate at WL. GF, maybe but never the Lodge. Am I just lucky?

They will stop the boats if lightening is sighted within a certain distance.

There was no lightning. There was some issue with the ferry. It was stopped halfway across the lagoon and 4 patrol boats were circling with their flashing lights. Since our boat wasn't moving, we hopped off and walked to the bus. Just before we got on our bus, the ferry resumed moving to the MK dock, accompanied by patrol boats. I don't know what caused all of this.

Asking for some speculation here. We are renting points from a friend and are hoping to change our June 3-11 ressie at SSR to the Villas on Thursday of this week. Obviously we will be booking at Boulder Ridge Villas, so as long as there is availability. My question is, IF the Villas open in the main lodge by June, is the assumption that those will be a completely different booking category and different (most likely, more) points?

I wanted to try to book those if they came available by June, but I'm thinking it may be too complicated with renting points, as I will be renting the amount (140) it takes for 8 days at Boulder Ridge, and if the main lodge villas (these will be called Copper Creek??) are more points, I'm not sure I can rent more.

A long shot, but as a second question, does anybody have any experience with that?

I did not see this mug in January or June of this year and I was looking for it specifically to replace the one that I got some years ago that is now chipped. I love how it references a classic metal camping cup. Sorry!

Bummer, I love that mug for the same reasons! The new mug, which I've seen on the Shop Parks app, looks pretty boring.

Disney Vacation Club has officially released very little information about the new Copper Creek Cabins & Villas, so most anything said at this time is speculation.

An opening date has not been set for Copper Creek. The Notices of Commencement for the work at Wilderness Lodge filed by Disney extend to April 2018, which is why most people believe all the renovations won't be finished until then. However, its possible that parts of the construction might be finished much sooner than 2018. When Disney converted some of the Polynesian Resort to DVC villas, it opened the renovated rooms in phases: The first Longhouse opened in April 2015, the third Longhouse opened in July 2015, but the renovated Oasis Pool wasn't finished until March 2016. The same staggered opening might happen with Copper Creek.

It would not shock me if some of the new Copper Creek villas might open by June. But it also wouldn't shock me if the villas don't open until late 2017.

DVC has said that Copper Creek will be a separate condo association and not part of the existing Boulder Ridge Villas condo association. Since it will be its own condo association, it will have its own point chart and own set of points. In all likelihood, the Copper Creek villas will cost more points per night than comparable villas at the existing BRV. But that is just an educated guess on my part.

Good luck!

We are in!! Switched our DVC Studio ressie from SSR to Boulder Ridge today! Currently booked for 6/3-6/10 but will be adding 6/11 tomorrow! I am soooo excited! Our first stay at the Lodge!

@ariane37
CONGRATULATIONS!!!! I'm SO excited for you guys :goodvibes I just know you're going to love it as much as we did!!

we're going to WDW for a quick 3 night stay, Nov 6-9. Is there any reason I wouldn't want to stay at WL during the construction? We are booked into CSR now and I'm thinking about upgrading.

Not that I can think of.

Does anyone know what the chances are that the Christmas tree in the lobby will still be up on Jan. 5th? Some friends are eating at Whispering Canyon on Jan. 5th and I'd love for them to see the tree!
