Disney's WILDERNESS LODGE Information & Questions

Just watch that many of the highest floor available rooms have enclosed balconies and not open balconies. You can also request a specific floor now
Whether we get an enclosed or open balcony probably won't be an issue for us, but it's definitely something to think about. Thank you. :)

What room category did you book?
I booked just a standard room so I believe the highest floor I can request is the 6th floor? I know we won't be in the room much, but I like the idea of being up high and potentially getting a nice view. Since we booked standard, we probably won't get a nice view, but maybe we'll be surprised!

Your trip is coming up soon! I think you'll really appreciate the WL theming since you also love AKL. You'll also love all the transportation options you don't have at AKL like walking to FW and boating to CR, MK and FW.
Yes! I am really excited about the boat to MK! We have 3 MK days planned, so it will be so convenient.

Is it just me, or has Wilderness Lodge been removed from the booking section on the WDW website? I've been lurking there frequently over the past few weeks, as we are still wobbling over whether to switch our resort from ASMu to WL, and this morning when I put in my holiday dates etc to do a price check for DH, WL did not appear. Checked loads of other dates, still does not appear. Weird.

Update: This morning my DS had a fever of 100.8 then an hour later went down to 100.3 with no motrin since yesterday at 5:30pm. So the meds the doctor gave are working! He has been up and eating and resting when he needs to so I am thinking we should be fine! Our flight doesn't leave until 5pm on Monday and won't arrive until 7:45pm so we will eat and then get to bed early so we can start Tuesday off early at MK. Thanks for all the good vibes!
Eating and moving about is a good sign. Hope everyone stays well and it sounds like a really good idea to just rest your arrival evening. Is he old enough that he could just rest a bit in the room while everyone goes out, if he feels the need? That way he won't feel as pressured to keep up.

Yes, the 6th is the highest non-CL floor. Actually, the SV rooms (and the Woods View rooms) in the North Wing have a partial Wishes view, if you get a high floor. I would request a "high floor in the North Wing." Also, as @GrandCalifornian has reported, he and his family have been magically upgraded twice, I believe, from SV rooms. They've really like their SV rooms views and the upgrades;)

At first when I read your post, I thought they had taken some VWL/WL rooms offline/out of inventory due to the impending DVC construction. September had many "unavailable" dates, but I checked up through NYD and there is availability showing now. I was checking using "Room Only," which would show every available room, as opposed to a special rate. Sometimes you can't check some resorts and they won't show up as options till later, I assume because they're updating inventory/rates.

I'm looking for the locations of King bed rooms. Anyone know where I can find that? My wife will be 6 mos pregnant when we go for our babymoon so we'd like the extra room of a king bed. I booked courtyard view and would like to know where the king beds are located. Thanks!

Thanks! I'll send that in to the TA since you can't request North Wing on Disney's site. I'd love to get upgraded, but I'm not holding my breath. ;)

Does WL take room request faxes like the PO resorts? We have had great luck with the faxes.

Does the Wilderness nature path go all the way to Hoop De Doo and the campgrounds?

You can look at touring plan room views, which has information on King Size beds. I was able to successful get a King bed last year but it was an accessible room. Wasn't bad, just no tub and single sink, walk in shower.

Hi everyone! Thanks to the Armed Forces Salute, we are able to have our first Disney vacation! Myself, DH, Dear Stepsons (10), (10), (7), my parents, and my sister will be coming 9/3/15-9/13/15. We'll be at AoA for the 1st half of our stay, and at WL 9/8-9/13. If it were all about me, we'd be there the entire stay; but, this might be our one and only trip and the boys are dying to stay in a Cars room for a least a few nights. I can't wait to show them WL! We have WC booked for breakfast on our departure day, and I know it will be the perfect memory maker to end out trip. I stayed there in 2001 with my family and it was an unforgettable experience. We were upgraded (or my grandmother secretly booked us... never found out which) to CL, and it was so much fun. I can't even fathom to guess how many pounds of gummie bears my brothers consumed. We currently have 2 Woods View Bunk Bed rooms booked, and I'm calling daily to see if we can book CL rooms with the military discount. So far there's no availability. Now that Fast Pass reservations are done, I'm researching and debating room requests. North Wing is appealing for the possible MK views, but South Wing is appealing for the short walk to the buses.

Just read on Trip Advisor that the beach at WL was not accessible. Is that right?

As of 2 weeks ago the beach at WL was fully accessible, but I suppose something could have changed since then.

We arrive at the Villas next Monday. Is the Territory Lounge on the delux meal plan ? Our intention is to ( after our long commute, arriving at 6 pm) unpack, and then go for a bar meal at the Territory Lounge - ( the truffle fries, the smoky portebello mushroom soup etc) - before bed.

No the Lounge is not part of any meal plan.

Like mattchu758 said, the trail does go all the way to the Fort; however...if you are traveling at night, be warned...no lights. You could stumble upon a small creature or two :teeth: During the day, it's a great place to walk/run. But, I've never been brave enough to venture out on the trail after the sun goes down.

:welcome: to the DIS and the thread!

TL does accept Tables in Wonderland which is 20% off all food and beverages.

It's actually not doable at all in the dark. I've tried to run before sunrise and had to turn around and head back to Sturdy Branches. Unless you have a flashlight, once you get on the trail across the street from WL, it's pitch black with no lights at all on the concrete path.

Almost all the King beds at WL are HA rooms. If you don't have a physical need for one, it might not be ideal since there isn't a tub, which your wife might like. The only way to guarantee a king at WL is to book a suite, but, the two queens might provide all the extra room you're looking for;)

We're arriving in 8 days!!

I will try to do some recon while we're there and post what I find when we return :-)

The past 11 months since our last visit have been long, but this week will surely be the longest, LOL!!

Don't forget those ground floor south wing rooms in your recon adventure;). Happy travels and trails!

It's best to call the WDTC/CRO (or your TA) and have any requests added to your reservation at least a week prior to arrival. You can also add (limited) requests to your OCI/MDX, but just make sure those requests don't conflict with your called-in requests. The Room Assignor will see requests from both sources.

Welcome and congratulations on booking! I'll add your dates to the Lodgers' Log and don't give up on the CL room. I've been able to change rooms and get the military rate a week or two prior to arrival so it is possible. The bus stop really isn't far from anything at WL so I wouldn't worry about that at all in choosing a wing unless someone has a mobility issue.

Just read on Trip Advisor that the beach at WL was not accessible. Is that right?

Do you mean Handicap Accessible or closed? The last time I recall it being closed temporarily was when the WL pool was under construction last year.
