Disney's WILDERNESS LODGE Information & Questions

Well, we are marking another resort off our bucket list:jumping1: We just made a "Magical" reservation to stay at WL 11/20-11/25. Hoping construction is not an issue.

How long is the construction going on? Also who do you call to request your room and where is the best place to be away from construction? How early can you call? I go in 30 days. Thanks
That haven't made an announcement about the construction. In fact, it is hard to get them to admit that construction is going on right now. And I don't think anyone knows what the plan is, either. So it is hard to answer your question until we find out more.

Maybe someone who is staying at the WL now or very soon and walk in front of the ground level floors facing the villas pool and see how many rooms look like they are under construction.

We just returned this past Friday from a five night stay at Wilderness Lodge. We stayed Club Level in a standard CL room. I wanted to share a few thoughts about the lodge and our stay, but want to start by saying that we loved it and can't imagine staying anywhere else at Disney from now on (we had stayed previously at AKL, which we really liked, but there was something more "magical" about WL).

Room and view: We stayed on the 7th floor and had a direct view of Cinderella's castle and the fireworks, which was awesome. The daytime view was just OK - we were right over the smokehouse and its parking lot. Room itself was very nice - great "mousekeeping."

Club Level: We thought CL at WL was fantastic - the evening food offerings in particular were great. You could make a fairly substantial meal from them. We liked being on the same floor as the club. The service was excellent.

Construction: We were near the area with scaffolding. But, even mid-day when we went back to the room to rest, we couldn't hear any construction noise at all. I did not find the construction around the lodge to be intrusive.

Transportation: The boat service to MK is fantastic. We loved this. We also did boat/monorail combo to Epcot. The bus service, as we have found in the past, was very mixed. On the day we went to AK t worked great (got there earlier than expected). My sister and her family, however, ended up waiting over 40 minutes for a bus to Hollywood Studios the next day. In the future we may include cab fare/uber fare to Hollywood Studios and AK in our budget to just avoid the buses completely.

Other: We loved the restaurant offerings at WL - ate at Artist's Point (which was great); Whispering Canyon, which was fun and good food, and Roaring Fork, which was fine for counter service. We really liked the pool and being on the lake. We rented boats one afternoon.

I would recommend WL to anyone - it just had a more intimate feel than AKL. And, we loved being so close to the Magic Kingdom and not 100% reliant on the bus service.

I just read this and, for a moment, honestly thought it may have been my own review! We stayed standard CL at WL in March and I agree with all of this!

Ok what is IPO and what's the email? I'd rather email a room request than call.

Thanks!

Don't be afraid to call either. There is no holding and they are super nice. They have made reservations for me and emailed a confirmation. They do answer emails but a little slower in my experience.

What is the phone number ?

Just a friendly reminder that you only have access to the Itinerary Planning Office if you have booked a Club Level room/suite.

We are leaving for WDW and our first stay at WL on Monday. I am excited and can't wait. However hope the next 3 days go by slow. Late last night my 12 year old DS started with a bad ear infection. Had him at the doctor first thing this morning. Gave him meds and drops had no fever. Now later in the day started running a fever. Not too long ago was nearly 103. He tends to run high fevers when he gets sick so thank goodness for motrin. Praying that this all passes fast and hoping the rest of us stay healthy. I believe it will all work out and before you know it we will be enjoying a wonderful WDW vacation.

Sounds like DD's house! Seems like no matter WHEN a DW vacation is planned one of DGD's get sick 3-4 days before the trip! Normally everything works out but I know your "anxious" right now. :tink:

Doing my happy dance! party: Received the email today that our magic bands have shipped. I showed it to my kids and their cousin (whose family is also going with us.) Nothing like seeing the big smiles when they read it!

Tonight I get to make FP+ and tomorrow night I should be able to do online check-in for WL. We can do that at midnight EST right? I have no clue what I want to request since we won't be in the room much, but I think I want a room on the highest floor I can request. I have no clue what the construction will be like in 2 months so it could be a wash.

I got my email today as well! Took a screenshot of it as a matter of fact lol! Our first stay at WL is in August, but my favorite resort is AKL, so I am hoping this resort won't let me down.

I've also stayed at AKL; however, I hate how long it takes to get anywhere and the bus is the only transportation option. WL is laid out the same as AKL and even more beautiful themed IMO. I like to options for transportion and the ease of getting to the parks.

Just watch that many of the highest floor available rooms have enclosed balconies and not open balconies. You can also request a specific floor now

We arrive at the WLV on July 13- 2 br dedicated for 10 nights. We are a bit worried about reports of construction noise in the South Wing of the Lodge. We have requested a high room with Lake view. Will the noise impact on us ?

I'll log your dates:). You won't really be able to see Bay Lake from VWL because the view is obstructed by trees. But, those rooms would face toward the lake as opposed to toward the South Wing. Also, I don't think anyone staying at VWL has reported being impacted by the construction on the ground floor of WL's South Wing. The work is toward the end of the wing, closest to the pool area. If for some reason you aren't happy with your villa location, just walk over to the front desk at WL and let them know.

Congratulations on booking and I'll add your dates to the Lodgers' Log.

Nothing worse than being ill on a vacation or right before. How is your DS feeling? Has the fever broken?

What room category did you book?

Your trip is coming up soon! I think you'll really appreciate the WL theming since you also love AKL. You'll also love all the transportation options you don't have at AKL like walking to FW and boating to CR, MK and FW.

Update: This morning my DS had a fever of 100.8 then an hour later went down to 100.3 with no motrin since yesterday at 5:30pm. So the meds the doctor gave are working! He has been up and eating and resting when he needs to so I am thinking we should be fine! Our flight doesn't leave until 5pm on Monday and won't arrive until 7:45pm so we will eat and then get to bed early so we can start Tuesday off early at MK. Thanks for all the good vibes!
