I see that Disney sells SSR points for $98/90 right now. And I see the resale prices.

But is there anywhere I could see a history of price in say 2000 or 1998.
Not that it would indicate or garantee a pattern, but trying to use the "we can sell later on if you dont like it" excuse.

I would never ask "how much did you pay?", but if you know how much points cost in the past I would appreciate the info.

Everytime this list is posted I get depressed. Should have bought in the first time we looked instead of waiting. I try and find the bright side of loving my second home but I could love it more if it cost less.

Average price per point charged each year by DVC, reflecting price changes during years as appropriate.

DVCI
1991 $48.94
1992 $52.88
1993 $56.75
1994 $59.30
1995 $62.13
1996 $62.75
1997 $62.75
1998 $62.75
1999 $65.00
2000 $66.25
2001 $73.55
2002 $78.25
2003 $84.00
2004 $86.08
2005 $90.60 assuming no further increases

DVCII (SSR)
2003 $81.05 ($79 pre-opening, then $84 on 11/1/03)
2004 $91.98
2005 $96.60 assuming no further increases

Minimum contracts were 230 points until 5/93 when they dropped to 210 or 190 (alternate drop to 190 1/94), then dropped again to the current minimum of 150 as of 5/97.

Doc -- I have slightly different or additional info:

June 1992 -- $52

8/4/03 SSR sales opened at $89 with $10 credit for $79.
11/1/03 SSR $89 with $5 credit for $84.
3/5/04 SSR the credit was removed and reduction required first year's points.
5/9/04 SSR went to $95
6/19/05 SSR went to $98

Older resorts went to $89 I believe on August 1st, 2004 and to $92 on June 19th, 2005.

At least this is one TS purchase you know may hold it's value for the 1st 1/3 of the RTU contract! Most drop 50-60% before your signature on the contract dries!

Kudos to Disney for keeping the ROFR high! I think it adds great value to the ownership. Some of the other higher end TS's are now struggling to slowly raise the ROFR!

As Doc mentioned in his post, there was a period of time when the minimum contract was 210 points. That was the case when we purchased our initial contract at OKW in July 1995.

Thanks for the history lesson. This is fascinating information. It would be interesting to know the history of ROFR as well. I know that when we purchased our resale at OKW in late 1999, we were able to purchase 230 points at $56/point (which was much less than our original contract in 1995 even with the requirement to pay closing costs). Has anyone ever tried to compile that list?

There is a ROFR thread going, but very informal.

Is there anyway for someone to create a data base for this? Then we could enter our own ROFR and the it could be filtered/searched by resort, date, $$$/Pt, Who Paid Closing, Who Paid MF, time from submission to sign-off... etc...

Anyone up to the task? I think there are Free Web Based database sites on the web...

Cheers,

At least it will likely appreciate for a little while longer. SSR will have a much longer run if Disney continues to build DVC resorts.

Thank you Towncrier. I will add that in. I note that Doc has it dropping to 190 in January 1994 -- before you purchased in July 1995. Someone said that there was a period when the "absolute minimum" was lower than what they set as a "reasonable minimum". Could this be the case for your purchase?
