Resort Thread Disney's PORT ORLEANS RIVERSIDE Resort

Thanks Andre! That's exactly what I was wondering...just couldn't seem to get it out right!

Thanks for your answers all on the carriage rides. Much appreciated :) Will wait until we check in to book.

Not quite true. We were just there & our deal was room only. They didn't charge my card on file. I paid cash at check in & yes I checked my CC account to make sure I wasnt double charged. This is how we handle it every trip.

Did you do online check-in? Maybe that is the difference.

Hello all -

Back at POR after 8 years away, and so excited!

I have a question about room locations, and I apologize if this is described somewhere, but my search-fu is failing me this morning. There's 6 of us travelling in 2 rooms - myself, my wife, and our 1-year-old son, then my (adult) sister and my parents. My wife and I want a king room (more space for stroller and pack-and-play), and my parents and sister would obviously like a room with 2 queen beds. Ideally we would like our rooms to be close to each other (even better to be connected, but I know that's asking a lot) - what would be the best room category for them to make this most likely to happen? I had been thinking that a preferred room for them would give us the best shot, but that was really just a guess. Any ideas?

Also, I read that having our reservations connected would make adjoining/connecting rooms more likely to happen, which makes sense. Our reservations were made at separate times, and one is through a travel agent and one is through Disney directly - can we still link them? (And unfortunately I can't move the Disney direct one to the travel agent, and I don't want to rebook the travel agent one with Disney directly, so we're kind of stuck with this set-up.)

Thanks for any thoughts!

Just call Disney and make sure the confirmation for each reservation is connected and request connecting rooms. I think there are lots of connecting rooms in POR. I wouldn't worry about requesting a specific location just connecting rooms. Good luck!

Your post is a little confusing because you say that you have already made your reservations - but - you also say that you would like a king room and your sister would like a room with two queen beds. What did you book? If you want a king bed then you should have booked a king bed room. You won't get a king bed if you booked a standard room, for example. Your sister will automatically get a room with two queen beds, so that is not a consideration. But if she wanted a preferred location then she should have booked a preferred room.

If you look at the room chart on Andre's website, you'll see that there are a lot of king rooms that connect to rooms that have two queen beds.

We have a king room and hope to connect with our son's preferred room so that we can be in the preferred section. I hope it works. :)

I am pretty sure someone has posted a picture of the in room safes but I can't find it! Just wondering if anyone has been there recently can post a picture or tell me if a full size laptop will fit into it. I just decided to go back to school and will be starting a new term the day before we are supposed to leave so I am going to have to bring it to do some work during down times.

I doubt a full-size (15+ inch) device would fit:

Interior dimensions 35cm x 24.5cm x 9cm deep, access door gap is 30cm x 21cm (it's the door size which might be a problem).

I love POR... We stayed in a RR last trip which I loved. RR weren't available for this trip so I booked a PR which will be in the AB section... I'm just not excited about the AB section... Please tell me it will be fine. I can get a RR after our first night... should I do one night in a PR, and then switch? We won't arrive until about 11pm.

I'd book the RR for the second night onward, and make sure the two bookings are linked on the system. Let them know 3-5 days out by fax that you tried to book the same category for the whole period but the system wouldn't let you, and ask if there's anything they can do.

Then keep your fingers crossed that you might get the whole period in the RR to save having to move you. No guarantees, but the worst that can happen is you have to switch after the first night.

My I-pad Air just barely fit in there along with my car keys & meds. Don't think a full size lap top would fit.

Hi fellow POR lovers! ;) Is sending a fax the only way to request a certain building, or would a phone call be okay? I don't have access to a fax machine. Also, last time, (and the only time we've been to POR), we stayed in AB, we had all the kids with us. This time it will be just us two adults, king room. Which building would you suggest? I thought it would be nice to try something different this time.
