Resort Thread Disney's PORT ORLEANS RIVERSIDE Resort

Just book for my summer homecoming to POR :jumping1:

My last night fell outside the summer promotion rate. Guess I have to wait until the Fall promotion to book my last night there. Still super excited!!

Is sending a fax the only way to request a certain building, or would a phone call be okay?

Fax is the only way to ensure that what you send is directly read by the room inventory team.

You can phone of course, but what you discuss with the call-center operator will simply be added as a brief note on your existing reservation on the system.

How is the make your own yogurt? I can't seem to find pictures or specifics on what the options are.

Can you get an egg white omelet @ the make your own omelet station ? I cant seem to find much information on that

I have a garden view room booked with the summer discount that just came out. I did notice that river view rooms were also available but for $30 more per night. We are a family of 5 so we will be on AB. Would this be a better category for us or are garden view rooms just as good?

The funny thing about Garden room are that some are looking at the river. I wouldn't worry too much about the view unless you are planing on staying in your room for long periods. Its not like you can sit on a balcony and watch stuff. check out this to see what room are. https://touringplans.com/hotel_maps/disneys-port-orleans-resort-riverside

We are staying at Riverside for the first time for 11 days at the beginning of June. I booked a garden view room. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on where I should request a room. We will be spending most of our time at the parks and water parks, with one day completely off. Our dining reservations are either in the parks or other resorts. My kids will want to swim when we are at the resort. Since we are staying for 11 days, I would like to be near transportation. I like the look of the mansion rooms better than the bayou rooms, however that isn't a top priority for us. Any suggestions???

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I know a woman in line behind me asked for it and they didn't tell her no.

It just depends on how important it is to you. Garden view is going to give you a view other than a parking lot, so unless you really want to be on the river, that would be good enough for me. Keep an eye out for discounts though. Sometimes you can get a really good one on the upgraded room categories.

Request exactly what you want, not where you want. This way, they can help you if what you ask for isn't available. "Mansions, nearest transportation," etc.

I'm just back from our first time at Riverside. We were in AB building 37 which is just about as far from the lobby as you can be. We were really close to the North bus stop which worked out well. There were always lots of seats when we got on and then it would usually be the 2nd stop on the way back.
In the morning, usually two of us would go pick up some breakfast to share from the food court and then eat in the room. It was definitely a pretty walk!

One evening we took the boat to Disney Springs. We had a reservation at Raglan Road and we waited for a boat, then didn't make it on, then had to wait for the next one and then the boat ride seemed to take forever. And then we had to hustle through the crowds in Disney Springs and were late. But on our last day (we were moving to CR) we had no set plans and plenty of time and the boat was much more pleasant! That boat stopped at POFQ so we hopped off and ate beignets, walked around and then got another boat to DS.

We are going back to POR and we stayed in the Magnolia previously. I think we may have had a standard room on 2nd floor, because I don't remember seeing much garden. I felt like it was close enough to the East depot bus and short walk across the bridge to the main pool. I'm kind of wondering the same thing about what I should request. We are going back in October. I have a garden room booked. I'm wondering if the ground floor is fine and better courtyard view, but hey if our garden view kind of shows the river too, that would be good. Honestly I'm not concerned that much with the view, but more about the location in the building and quickness of getting in/out. I think we want Magnolia again.
