Resort Thread Disney's PORT ORLEANS RIVERSIDE Resort

Do any of the standard rooms have the trundle bed? It looks like it may be great to keep our boys apart! I love this resort and haven't stayed here since these beds were added.

The rooms in Alligator Bayou have Murphy Beds now instead of the trundle.

I just booked the "Family Vacation Savings" package for POR for 4/1-4/10, when our (newly adopted from Colombia) twin teens have their Spring Break from school. It includes room and tickets, but not dining. I can get two airline tickets free with credit card points, but the other two tickets will be a little expensive due to spring break (~$500 each). We are very excited to take the girls to WDW, as it will be their first WDW visit. Also their prior lifestyle was pretty basic, to say the least. They love Disney, and both dressed up as Minnie Mouse for Halloween. I know they will love the pools and the boat ride to Disney Springs, but they probably won't know English well enough yet to fully appreciate Yehaw Bob.
Thanks for the help!! I say your post last night so I went onto the WDW website and saw the two promotions they are having. I checked out the 2016 Early Booking promotion and was able to save me and my wife about $250.00 from the package we booked in early November for the end of March 2016. I also looked at the promotion Family Vacation and found it to be the exact same price as the 2016 Early Booking Promotion. So its a nice Christmas gift to us and we will continue to look at the website to see if there will be any other deals!! I am not so confident there will be since the end of March is a prime time for WDW and they don't need to discount to fill he parks or resorts.

We are supposed to stay at POR in March and it will be 3 adults and 2 kids (ages 3.5 and 5) so I know we will be in the Alligator Bayou. I was looking at the pictures on POR.org and have a question about the bedding.

It looks like it's just a sheet on the bed. Are there blankets on the beds? I'm weird and have to have more than just a sheet to sleep. So are there blankets? Also is there a blanket for the murphy bed?

I just wanted to add that the Murphy bed is ready made with sheets only, you need to ask for a blanket for it from housekeeping - there is a button on the phone, ours arrived within 30 minutes but we called mid- afternoon. We didn't have one the night we arrived as we came in at 11pm.

Glad you found a savings!

End of March appears to be the spring break peak season, so any discount is good news.

Thank you! We will be sure to do that!!!

I received a letter from Disney in the mail this weekend informing us about the main pool closure. I already knew about it, but it stated closes until sometime in the spring. Is it now planned to be that late? I guess after 2/26 it doesn't affect us anyway

We rarely ever use the main pool. If we want to do swim we will use one of the other pools located throughout the resort. Being just two mature adults we find these pools much more peaceful and relaxing after a day in the parks.

We did the same at CS when it was just us 2 adults, different story with 2 kids now though

We love POR so much we will be staying there for our next trip when we take our oldest daughter and family (4 boys plus husband) in the near future. I hope we can keep the boys out of the main pool long enough to see the parks!!

How soon before a trip will we find out what building we will be in?

Other than for special circumstances (larger groups of linked rooms, medical issues, some more complex requests, etc) room allocations tend to take place a few hours before your stated arrival time, picked from the pool of rooms that is currently ready to be occupied (that way there's a fairly good chance you'll get a room straight away, even if you arrive well before the 3pm official time).

The PortOrleans.org site has the closure listed as 11 January 2016 to 4 March 2016

We just switched over to Riverside, haven't stayed in this area since early 90s and it was at Dixie Landings. We booked preferred location. Excited for the food court and the access to Springs for food options. We'll be there in September for about a week. Looking forward to it.

And do bear in mind that this could always overrun. The French Quarter work on the new children's water play area next to the Doubloon Lagoon pool is currently looking to be completed about four weeks later than the planned 24th Dec date - and I do wonder if they might delay starting the work at Riverside until that area is fully open again.
