Resort Thread Disney's PORT ORLEANS RIVERSIDE Resort

Thanks. I don't need a king. When I was looking at the map and the booking categories I was confused cause I would have thought the mansions were preferred. I wasn't clicking in the actual buildings to see its the same as the alligator bayou.
We stayed in Mansion 85, river view room, and we had less than a 5 min walk to the pool and to the lobby. That particular mansion is positioned so that it's about equa-distance between the footbridge to the pool and the footbridge that comes out right next to the boat to DS. I wouldn't hesitate to stay in that building on future trips. The East Bus stop is right out the other end too.

I completed my online check-in for my preferred pool view room and selected "Second floor, ground floor". I really want to stay in the mansions, particularly Bldg 85 (Magnolia Terrace). When calling Disney to add a note to my reservation, should I ask for "Bldg 85" or Magolia Terrace or just The Mansions? (And I know it's just a request and not a guarantee of room assignment)

Preferred rooms are based solely on location, not decor. They are closest to the main building.

Good luck with getting those two fulfilled... :)

However there is no such things as a Preferred Pool View room category, it would be either a Preferred Location room (the rooms shown in yellow on my floorplan maps, in buildings 14, 15, 18 or 27) or a Pool View room (the pale blue rooms, which could be located anywhere around the resort facing towards a pool).

There's no such thing as preferred pool view - well, not as a booking category. There are 6 rooms in building 18 (which is one of the preferred buildings) that have a pool view, but according to http://www.portorleans.org/room-locations.php you would have to book pool view and request building 18. If you booked preferred, all preferred rooms are in Alligator Bayou.

So, for a family of 4 (we have a standard room) - to try for a murphy bed we just request AB and hope for the best? It's only 2 nights and there aren't any preferred available anyway, otherwise I would have just booked one. Thanks for all the help and the great website!

Do you want second floor or ground floor? You've requested both. Also, all preffered rooms are in Aligator bayou. Did you book a preffered room or a pool view room?

So sorry! I usually stay at Pop with preferred pool view. At POR, I reserved a pool view room. How do I request a mansion room on the first or second floor, preferably Bldg 85?

There are instructions in the first post of this thread.

Two questions: our trip is 10/1-10/8. Family of 4 traveling with another family of 4. Separately booked but linked through family and friends in MDE. First question is about AB. We strongly prefer the theming in that section and would like to request it but I'm concerned about storage space with the pull down bed. Do all AB rooms have that? And if so any tips on maximizing storage? We are two adults and an 11 and 9 yo.

Second question is in regards to dual room requests. We would like to be close to the family we are traveling in though don't expect connecting or adjacent rooms. What is the best way to fax our requests so that we are within reasonable distance of each other? Reasonable being in the same general section of the resort.

Thanks everyone!!

There are three drawers underneath the Murphy bed. There is a room under the nightstand to store a bag. And there are shelves next to the refrigerator, a large shelf above the clothes rack and a narrow shelf above the refrigerator. We bring a lot of extra hangers and hang as much of our clothes as we can. The rod is about six feet long and will hold a lot.

We had dual room requests, too. I included the information for both reservations, including reservation number, name on the reservation and check in dates on the fax. (I just made my own letter. I didn't use a form or a service like Touring plans.) Then I explained what I wanted and why. I faxed it in five days before arrival day. We got our requests, which were AB and rooms close to each each. We were in the same building and eight doors down from each other on the same side of the building. It was perfect. I also left this as the only request in order to have the best chance of getting rooms close to each other. :)

Ok, well you've already requested 1st and 2nd floor when you did your online request. Just ask for magnolia bend building 85 when you fax in your request. You should fax, not call as when you call you are not getting POR, you are getting a call center.

Ah thank you! Very helpful. We are driving down so infuses we could always show our empty luggage in the back of the van to save space. Using more hangers is a good thought. We use some of the shelving for food but maybe it will be adequate.

Same building sounds perfect. I'll take your advice. thanks again!

We are also a family of four and always request AB for a Murphy bed. I call and tell them my kids will kill each other if they have to sleep in the same bed and that we need a pull-down bed. I call back at a later date to double check that that request is still listed on our reservation. They have always honored our request :)

You can also bring along a hanging closet organizer that looks like this https://www.amazon.com/Household-Essentials-6-Shelf-Hanging-Organizer/dp/B0041HLT80 to use as storage. It folds up really thin and was a huge help for us on our last trip!

Geez.....I've been trying to price out POR for next year 6/15-6/25 and the only rooms they show as available are the Royal Rooms. Do you really think the other rooms are booked already?

No chance. Probably not all of the room inventory has been loaded yet.
