Resort Thread Disney's PORT ORLEANS RIVERSIDE Resort

No, Disney doesn't put a credit card hold on their resort rooms. They will charge it all at the end unless you exceed a pre-set limit. I am not sure what it is but it would be something like $1,000 or $1,500. Someone probably knows what it is. And if you hit that limit your credit card would be charged then. If you don't hit the limit then it won't be charged until your check out day, usually in the early morning hours.

The limit is:
$500 Values
$100 Moderate
$1500 Deluxe
Years ago were at the POP once, and exceeded the $500, and my room charge was declined. We paid with our card so not a big deal, but that is how we found out about the limits. I don't know why the POP didn't charge our card and start our spending limit over. So now I just try and keep track and will go to the front desk and pay it off every a couple of times each trip. We are usually there for 10 nights stays.

Credit rates have been raised to $1500 at Value and Moderate Resorts, and to $2000 at Deluxe Resorts.

Edit: Finding conflicting info. Another site claims, In the past, Walt Disney World Value Resorts have a $500 charging limit, Moderate a $1000 and Deluxe a $1500. So, take your pick.

The same happened to us at POR in 2014. I didn't know about the limit thing, and DH and I had been paying all our group's meals (we settled at the end of the trip). When we were denied purchase of a $5 Minnie toy, I sort of freaked out (I thought my cc company had blocked our card!). Contrary to a lot of other people on forums, our card was not charged when we reached the limit, our charging privileges were blocked until we went to the front desk and confirmed we wanted the charge to be put to our cc on file. Then the limit was $1000.

Now I know, and we'll just stop by the front desk after a few days to get a copy of our bill (I refuse to keep track of my purchases on vacation!), but with just the two of us this time around, I don't expect to reach that $1000.

I like to bring Disney Gift Cards with me and pay down our balance at the front desk every few days. That way, the trip is all paid for when we leave and no big charge hits our credit card.

For those who have stayed on the first floor in AB section, do you often hear noises from the room above you? I will have a double stroller with me and would prefer a first floor room. But DH is a light sleeper and I worry about the noise from room above. TIA

I just stayed there and didn't hear anything above me. I did hear people outside, but that's possible wherever you stay.

Question about the Wait Time Monitor at the South Depot: If my building is far from the south depot, can I call the front desk to find out the approx arrival time of the next bus?? Or is there another way to find out the time without taking a trip to South Depot??

There is no way to contact the front desk from your room. The front desk button on the phone in your room routes to a Central Call Center. Just curious, if you're far from the South Bus Stop why not just go to the bus stop closest to your room?

We would definitely go to the closest bus stop. But my question was how to find out the ETA of next bus without going to the South Depot since that's the only depot with the monitor!

Actually, that's not true. I just saw a post on the Transportation board from someone who's a bus driver who said that all the stops at POR have monitors, but that they're not all turned on yet. (Since your trip isn't for another four months, I'd be willing to bet they'll all be turned on by the time you're there.)

Here's the thread with the post:

No way to know until they put Monitors at all POR stops.

And since the South Depot Monitor has been there for several years(I "think" it was the very first one),I'm starting to wonder IF they are going to put them at all stops.

EDIT-JUST SAW ABOVE POST!GREAT NEWS!

I hadn't heard that they had finally installed monitors at all the stops, but that's good news if they have done. We just have to wait for them to be tested and activated I guess. Anyone there are the moment able to confirm this info?

Doing a quick, 2 night stay in about 2 weeks - we are in Cocoa Beach for the week and thought about running over to Dtd because I am CRAVING EoS. Decided to try onsite for a night to see if there is a bounceback for our June trip to make it cheaper. THen just tacked on one more night since we could use DME to the airport, then. Have not been to POR since 2002...my kids have never been. Just going to enjoy the resort and some boat rides.

Anything I should know? Construction, etc? I only put in a request for the highest floor...

Magnolia Terrace mansion building has some ongoing roofing work, so you might prefer to avoid that building (although the areas immediately beneath the work area are closed).
