Resort Thread Disney's PORT ORLEANS RIVERSIDE Resort

Building 14 River View can be under a minute's walk to the food court. I made a little test video a while back in fact. I really must do some more proper videos.

I would imagine that is true! I was near the parking lot in the back.

Although we didn't clock it, I believe you are correct Andre. I'm sure we were in the food court in a minute or less. We are in a Royal Room, river view in Septemebr. Any suggestions as to what we should request for as close to the main bldg?

Just ask to be close to the main building.

So excited! Was just able to get a preferred room for our stay with the summer discount! We had booked garden view but wanted to be closer to the main building! 104 days until we check in!

I was just able book a Royal Room - Garden view for Saturday November 5th! My wife and I brought our children to Port Orleans back in the 90's so this will be nostalgic visit before we start the week at AKV with my brother and his family! This will also allow us to take a later morning flight into Orlando, instead of our normal crack of dawn flight o_O The plan is a afternoon jump to the MK to get our AP's and then drinks at Trader Sam's and dinner at Ohana (maybe?). Then back to POR by 10:30 for Yee Haww Bob!!!

The best part is we can sleep in on Sunday.............easy move to AKV..............and then off to Animal Kingdom!!!! The thought of no 3am ride to the airport makes this overnight stay so cool!8-)

We've never been in a Royal room..............what should we expect. How are the buses from that location?:listen:

Doug :goofy:

Yeah Jadyreen1282 I hear ya...............but we usually are up at 3am to catch a flight in Philly on arrival day. So sleeping in would be 7am for us:D

Thank you for the video Andre! I'm different than a lot of people in that I don't mind a longer walk to the food court. When I was there in 2002, we had a room in AB Building 25 on the first floor. It was more important to us to be near a less crowded depot and on the first floor than a quick walk to the food court. I loved walking every morning to get coffee and the walk back. And then when I was there with just my daughter in 2014, we got a River View room and left it up to chance. We loved our room location in Magnolia Bend and the beautiful walk. I'm looking forward to the day I get to return! And looking forward to more videos!

This may be a personal preference, but I'm interested in opinions anyway. My family reserved 3 standard Royal Rooms. My mom will have an ECV. Would we be better off requesting ground floor or close to the elevator? We would also like to be close to transportation and food court. I've heard both ground floor and elevators can be noisy, but I feel like we need one or the other.

1 week from today and we are back home! This was a last minute trip. The kids think we are going to Great Wolf Lodge!! I can't believe we have been able to keep this a secret. I can't wait to see the look on their faces when we tell them where we are really going. This trip we planned no parks. We are building a new house so if we wanted to do this we had to do it this way. Our kids would rather be at the pool so this works out anyways!

We don't mind a longer walk either. With that said, I keep going back and forth about which section to book, bayou or mansion. Does anyone have suggestions? We have a garden view room, 4 people, and would like to be closer to one of the less busy bus stops.

I personally can't answer for what it's like right now but when we stayed near the West Depot 14 years (has it already been that long?) it was never crowded and we always got a seat on a bus. Fast forward to two years ago at the East Depot. While it wasn't crowded there was one day, I believe Friday, that we waited about 30 minutes for an AK bus. I guess a lot of people were going to that park that day.

I would just ask to be close to a bus stop other than the south one, and leave it up to chance.

Good plan - but only as long as walking distance really isn't a concern within the resort (such as popping down to the food court for a drink, which can be quite a trek from some of the more remote rooms near the outlying bus stops).

I've always felt that people who say they really can't decision whether they prefer the mansions or the bayou rooms should probably just leave it to chance. It's such a personal thing that other people's advice on their own tastes often just isn't applicable.

How far is it a walk from either RR building to POFQ pool?

Google Earth is your friend - the walking distance is anywhere between 620 yards for the closest Parterre Place rooms to about 1,000 yards from the furthest Oak Manor rooms.

Agreed. If you want a different bus stop, but not a huge walk to the food court, maybe Acadia House could work. It just depends on what is important and how important it is.

Could anyone tell me how much of a hold the resort put on your credit card for incidentals?

Disney resorts do not put a hold on your credit card. They don't charge your credit card at all until you either hit a certain dollar limit or you check out.

Oh wow, so they don't make you put, like, a "deposit" down? Huh. That's good to know.

Does that means if I do not plan to link a credit card to my reservation to use with my Magic Band and make no in-room charges I do not need to provide a credit card?
