Resort Thread Disney's PORT ORLEANS RIVERSIDE Resort

I'm confused a bit. Are you saying you have a split stay? Doing some nights at each resort? Or have you somehow booked both and will cancel the one you don't want? One thing im wondering is about the dining package you have? Is it the one that ONLY has 1 TS credit a night? If so, that only applies to value resort reservations. It's not included in moderate stays. But if you have the QS dining plan, that is 2 TS a night.
With only 2 of you, the smaller double beds at value resort won't be an issue. If you want that extra $600 then I would go with the value.

No, I had ASMu booked and noticed Riverside came up for the Spring discount so I grabbed it - trying to decide between the two. I'll cancel the one I don't want. I have the package on both with 1TS, 1 QS and 1 snack plus a mug per night. Looking at both reservations it seems to be the same exact dining plan whether staying at a moderate or a value - is that not possible you're saying?

You will wish you were at Riverside the whole time you are at Music. Cut costs other ways. Souvenirs are overrated and since you go often you likely have plenty. Call the resort to find out if the pool will be done on time.

I have to pay for the package in a few days so I don't want to find out last minute that the POR pool won't be open as I'd lose some money canceling a reservation so close to the time of arrival. So it's really that up in the air as to whether the pool would be open at POR before the big Easter rush?

The pool should be open by 4th March. In fact, they were filling it with water today, not sure if that's just a test or flushing, but they are obviously getting close to completion of the major work.

ECVs are fine, and your Royal Pool View rooms are ideally located for access to the main buildings via a nearby footbridge. Might be worth requesting a ground floor room though.

Thanks for the info! My deposit is a due in a few days so trying to decide whether to chance it or not.

Ok, in your original post it sounded like you had the summer dining plan they put out for just the values where you got 1 QS. I was confused. With the dinng plan you have it's good for moderates.
So it boils down to whether you think the amenities at POR are worth the $600 extra.

I'm staying POR in July as I'm travelling with 2 adult children. Double beds wouldn't work. If I just had one of them I might have booked value for the savings.

We're taking our 2yr old daughter this September. We're staying 1 night at POR before we check in to our DVC rental.Would it be worth it to upgrade to a royal room for 1 night, or just stick with a standard?
My daughter LOVES princesses and I think she'd like the royal room.
Yes...100% yes! She will love it. If walking is an issue pay for a pool view or river view. When we stayed there our royal room was in the furthest away building, on the back side, almost to the end... so it was a very long walk. Although for one night it would not be bad. We loved our stay there. It was our first trip so it has a special place in my heart.

I totally agree when you're with adults or older kids the double beds just don't cut it - one reason we tend to stay in the mods!

Greetings. Heading to POR in a little over 50 days and I had heard rumors that Riverside has hosted large groups in the past (Pop Warner, "15's" Cheerleaders, etc.) and I was a little nervous because I had heard that there is a cheer competition at Disney's Sports Complex (April 23rd - 29th) while we are there. Does anyone know if this year's cheer group has POR as one of their resort choices? Not biased or against such groups, but it would help with planning eating and busses at the resort if there are going to be big groups there. Thanks.

Their packages are for either one of the All Stars or Coronado Springs. No mention of POR.

We went on a group discount to POR for a dance troupe in June of 2013 (who performed on the Downtown Disney stage). Of course, the group rate had a comparable discount to the Spring Offer at that time-now, not so much. Also, you had the choice of All-Stars, POR, and something else.

Can you ask them if the pool might open before March 4th? We arrive tomorrow night for a week-long stay.
If you get a chance could you post a couple of pictures of the construction on the pool and the mansion building? If not I totally understand.

To be honest I really doubt it, there's still a lot to be done in that area. They started test-filling the pool yesterday, so the work on the tiling and lining appears to be done, but the surrounding area is nowhere ready done yet. The Muddy Rivers staff should be getting access from 2nd March in order to start re-stocking the bar.

I posted a ton of photos and other updates yesterday, see www.portorleans.org/rehab.php
