Resort Thread Disney's PORT ORLEANS RIVERSIDE Resort

Lucky us we check in this Thursday and check out 3/4 ... the day they are supposed to reopen :worried:. Oh well it is supposed to get cooler later this week anyway so maybe pool time won't be much of an issue.

You're welcome to use the POFQ feature pool, and there are lovely leisure pools at Riverside so if the weather warms up you still have options. Enjoy your stay!

We arrive tomorrow. Has anyone noticed the recent bus schedules? I read on here that they start at both 6:30 and 7:00. We are going to MK on Thursday with an 8:00 open and hopefully a 7:20/7:25 arrival

Be out at the bus stop by 6:45. If it was me, I'd be out at 6:30, because I always want to be first at the tapstile at MK.

Will be checking into a river view room at Riverside on March 14. I'm glad to hear work on the pool on Ol' Man Island appears to be on schedule. This will likely be a "no-parks" visit for my family of five, though I may talk myself into a day at Magic Kingdom. We want to relax & enjoy Riverside! We will sleep in every morning, and enjoy late-night swimming every night (until 11pm pool close). We will probably also visit restaurants in Disney Springs via the boat from Riverside. We will rent bikes to tour Riverside & French quarter, as has become an annual tradition for us. We'll probably also visit Fort Wilderness for an evening at the Campfire Program. I can't wait to visit you, United States of America, and your beautiful Florida sunshine. :)

The MK line is a nightmare in the morning. Get there early.

I am finishing up a no-park trip. I am having a blast!

I've been told that the start time changed to 7am in December, but lots of people are still reporting buses earlier than that so I'd love to hear what your actual experience is if you get to the bus stop at 6:30. Perhaps you could make a note of what's showing on the wait-time board at 6:30am, which will give us a good idea of what's going on?

Andre -
I just wanted to thank you for all the effort you put into this thread and the website. It's been so helpful in planning our last minute April trip!

You're very welcome Mary, glad I could help.

The feature pool hours are currently 10am-9pm (well, at FQ anyway - Riverside's feature pool is closed as you know). I assume they will start to extend the time outward again by March, but I don't know any details yet. The quiet pools are pretty much open 24 hours though, as no one enforces the times.

We have reservations for Chef Mickeys @ 5:30 the night we arrive, our plans are to head to MK after dinner. I know its a bit of personal preference but what what are you opinions on getting to Contemporary from POR ? Would you take the more scenic route meaning take the bus to Epcot, then mono rail to TTC, & again from TTC to Contemporary ? or Take the bus straight to MK & the mono rail from MK to Contemporary ? I think my boys ages 3 & 7 would love the long mono rail rode .

We did this exact thing last year on our arrival day, but we had a car and drove to the CR and then rode the Monorail to the MK after eating dinner at CM's. The walk between CR and MK is also very short and pretty and my then 3 y.o. did very well with it.

Take a bus to MK then walk 5 min to Contemporary.

We are leaving this Sunday Feb 28-March 4, and I'm very excited to say that there was an opening for a King bed room with the Spring discount, so we were able to switch from CBR to POR! I kept checking and it paid off! We really wanted to stay at POR.

I have a few questions. We are aware of all of the construction. I know it's late notice, but what request should we make to be away from the construction? We will have a car so we don't really care which building we are in. Should i just call and have them make a note that says "away from construction"? I know it's in a lot of places but it would kind of stink to stay in the building where all the scaffolding and fencing is up for the roof work. I am also aware that a bridge is out. Is this a huge problem for getting around the resort?

How is the food at Boatwrights? Thanks!
