Hello :)

Just wondered if anyone could give me some info on this resort if you have stayed here before?

Good & bad points will be appreciated - would you recommend it?

Is it close to amenities etc?

Many Thanks

We stayed at Port Orleans Riverside in 2007 and thought it was a lovely resort. It is close to DTD by a boat ride. Its a big resort though so some people prefer POFQ as it is much smaller. POR as more amenities with bike hire, boat hire, sit down restaurant how ever you can still use these if you stay at POFQ.

I have just looked at the site and it looks intersting. We have decided to stay at the all star music resort when we go in July.
I cant wait now:goodvibes

We stayed at Port Orleans Riverside in 2006. It is a charming relaxing resort to stay in. he grounds are beautifuuly maintained and although it is large nothing is really that far away and the 5 minute or so walk to breakfast or the shop is very plesant. The bus stops are also next to most buildings.

We requested and stayed in Oak Manor (Ithink that is the name) which is next to a bridge that takes you to the main buildings. The lovely thing as well is that if you don't want to use the main pool the quiet pools are very convenient to the buildings where you stay.

I would recommend, it was a great place to return after a hectic day in the parks.:thumbsup2

We love the www.portorleans.org site it's very useful and has some really wonderful photos of the entire resort as well as lots of info about it and maps and "back story". Andre has created a work of love there;)
We'll be staying at POFQ for our 16th Wedding Anniversary trip this year as it was a cheaper price than PC with the dining plan (2x £279.86 plus 1x £83.86) and park tickets we thought what the heck we'll have a change and try a moderate instead of a value resort. We had booked PC and then all of the prices changed and the free dining plan dates were added. :thumbsup2 We could have had the free counter service plan at POFQ but we decided to upgrade to the basic plan for £56 each for us adults and £14 for DS :thumbsup2 For comparison our original booking price at PC came to £3481.68 and our price for POFQ was.. get ready... £3127.88 for basically a bigger room in a moderate. So you can see it pays to check the prices. If the price difference had been in favour of PC them we would have gone there this September.

been 4 times to riverside,,and loved it ..very nice relaxing just fantastic place..would love to go back my favorite//

staying in pofq for 1st time this aug with free dining and cant wait.

I ahve visted pofq on our wedding trip alst year and it look so nice. the website mentioned above is great

We stayed at French Quarter last year and absolutely loved it. Would stay there again in a shot, but we are trying Riverside this year just for a slight change. We found FQ really compact so easy to find your way around, and Port Orleans in general really central for all the parks. The boat to get to DTD is also a lovely perk!

this is our favourite resort
building 14 is the closest to the main area

you will love it
a great place to relaze after a busy day in the park

we loved POFQ. very relaxing and it seems to be a lot less busy than other resorts- quite romantic too.

We stayed at the POFQ in November last year and loved it. Went along to Riverside to swim, eat and mooch about a few times and really liked the atmosphere there too. So much so that its Riverside we are going to book at in June 2010. The resorts are relaxed enough that you can chill out and enjoy river journeys and pleasant walks when you need a breather from the parks

Just another opinion.... a viewpoint from a couple with no children along with us......
We stayed a few years ago at Riverside and absolutely loved it. So relaxing. we particularly like the option of the boat to downtown. We were in the quiet pools until late at night...relaxing and floating under the stars. Brilliant.

However..last May we stayed at FQ at I was really fed up at the end of 10 days. It was just too busy for us, without children.
The foodcourt was understaffed, so hot food was cold by the time we had paid. And the Pool/hot tub over run with children even late at night, so there was no where relaxing for us to snooze in the sun.
We did walk down to Riverside a few times, and the Food court was much better. The smaller pools though were equally full and noisy. We have no problem with children.we love Disney after alll! It was just the lack of a quiet corner. We also thought the rooms were a little tired, particularly the bathrooms and towels. We had come straight from 5 days at Best West Movieland..(cheap and cheerful just to "do" Universal etc) and to be honest, the bath and towels were much better there!! We love the themeing and everything though. And we still had a great time. It may be was the time of year, and the effect that the Disney Dining Plan seems to have had across all the world? Not sure. may have been a one off.
We were hoping to try out Coronado springs this next time, (May) but the prices are too high. So we are opting for a private villa with pool. I will probably be complaining its tooo quiet!!!! :rotfl2:
