Resort Thread Disney's PORT ORLEANS FRENCH QUARTER Resort

Thank you all for the advice(and hope!) I will be a bit devastated if we can't get POFQ, but it will just fuel me to start saving sooner for the next trip to make sure it happens then.

But hope is not lost yet so for now I will play it by ear and see what happens, but not pin all my hopes on POFQ. (Although the BF is now hinting doing a Value instead now...better start selling him on POR or CSR )

we are going to do a value next trip, my kids will be older and I figure they will want to spend as much time as possible in the parks so won't spend that much time in the room.

No matter what resort you end up at YOU ARE AT WDW! how can that be anything but wonderful

Does anyone know when Andre usually gets the outdoor movie schedule for POF and POR for the following month? I have a friend leaving for Disney tomorrow, and just wondered if I could get it for her in time. No problem if it's not possible. Just thought I'd check! :thumbsup2

This is a fantastic thread! :thumbsup2
We have stayed at POFQ before, but not since 2006, so it will be lovely to be back there in May. Our family has grown up (children are 23 and 20), so we have booked two rooms this time round, I'm sure we will appreciate the extra space! :yay:
We have booked a Water View, so not sure if we will get pool or river view, does anyone know?
This thread is refreshing and updating me, so thanks Andre, for putting it together. :thumbsup2

Our room was ready when we checked in at 9:30am! We paid for a standard view room and requested building 4 ground floor. We received all our requests and even got a garden view room directly across from where they show the nightly movie. We could watch it out of our window every night which we thought was pretty awesome! We were steps away from the food court and the bus depot. Room 4135 is perfect in my opinion and FQ is my all time favorite resort! Love, love, love it!!

Soooo excited, I can't wait!! We have 176 days to go.

We are heading down to POFQ in May and will not be using the Dining Plan, but we do plan on buying the mugs for our stay figuring it would likely save us money on drinks while we are there for the week.

Can someone refresh my memory - is milk an option for refill or do you have to buy cartons separately? We were there last year and I can't remember.

Thanks!

I'm so stinkin' excited! Just got my confirmation for our 8 night stay in mid-October. We haven't stayed FQ before, but visited (took the boat from DTD) on our last visit. It made such a cozy impression on us, we just HAD to book FQ this time around.

We've been to WDW many many times previously and we have been staying at POR the most in the past, including this past July. But we have opted for two rooms at POFQ this time! We will be there June 28-July 2...attempting to avoid the Fourth of July craziness. As always our trip started simply as a vacation to the beach in Tampa and now we are taking a detour for WDW to start off! I mean since we will already be in Florida we might as well...;)

I like your way of thinking! I have a few weeks off before changing jobs, and my hubby suggested to me that I go to FL to visit my in-laws. I told him if I was going to FL, I was going to WDW! So, a 2 night solo trip is planned, with arrival in 11 days! I cannot imagine being that close and not going! I live in upstate NY.

That's awesome! That sounds like our perfect room too! How do you "request" the room? Is it just something you do upon check in or did you submit something ahead of time?

Rooms are assigned before you arrive, so it's best to get your request in before you arrive. You can call the main reservations line and have any room requests added to your reservation. Or you can fax your requests. Please see this awesome thread by Venomhatch that explains it all and even has a template to use.

great location; we were in 4336/4337 in October. Loved being close to the Food Court and especially at the end of the day to the bus stops.

Rooms are assigned before you arrive,

Not normally they aren't (other than for special requests, multiple room bookings, etc). Most rooms are allocated a few hours before you arrive if you've done online checkin, or when you are standing there at the desk for regular checkin.

The February 2014 Recreation Activities and Movie Schedules for Port Orleans French Quarter are now available. See the main Recreation Activities Schedule page for full-size PDF versions, or click on the image below.

The outdoor movies will start at 7pm and the daily campfires commence at 5pm this month.

Reminder: The French Quarter "Doubloon Lagoon" pool area is closed for refurbishment work until approx 28 February 2014, so activities will take place in the courtyard there instead of the pool. The pool bar and hot tub are closed too. For those who want to swim, there is a free shuttle service which takes guests directly over to the Riverside pool on Ol' Man Island, and all guests can use the five quiet pools too.

We have a late afternoon flight and won't be arriving at POFQ until approximately 10 p.m. Can we request bell services deliver our checked bags early the next morning or can we pick them up there? AK opens at 8 so we will be wanting to get an early start our first morning and don't want to wait for our luggage to arrive at our room. Or would it be better for us just to collect our checked bags ourselves at the airport and bring them on the ME bus? TIA.
