Resort Thread Disney's PORT ORLEANS FRENCH QUARTER Resort

I'm here now in building 5, but on the pool side which I'm very happy with. Been at 6 & 7 before. As for the white bedding..I don't care for it either. Must get dirty fast.

Andre,
Any idea when the December activities schedule will come out? TIA

13 days and counting!!! :cool1: (literally....counting.....)

So we have check in soon and am starting to think about what building we might want. I hadn't given it much thought until I saw all the posts about how people request places.
So my question which building do you pick and why?

Close to bus?
Close to pool?
Close to POR?
Quite?

Help me pick a good one lol

Building 5 facing the grass courtyard, where the movies are shown, is it for us. Close to the pool, close to the main building, and a short walk by building 4 is a shortcut to the bus stop

I don't know if it's been brought up before... but has anyone inquired about trying to buy one of the old comforters?

Im sure this has been addressed, but whats the deal with the white bedding?

It's been in this thread and others on the boards. Disney has joined the ranks of other hotels in dumping the bedspreads and going to something that can be washed after every guest.Over the last 5 + years except for POFQ almost every hotel we have stayed at has done the white bedding (usually with a color runner & accent pillows ).This includes various tiers in the Marriott and Hilton chains along with Hyatt & some non-chain resorts.

If you're talking about this pic... it just looks like the bed has been turned down or something.

It would seem silly to do the refurb not long ago and then change the linens that quickly... but we'll find out I guess...

If you look at the pictures from the Value resorts, they've cut up the bedspreads and are using them as runners at the foot of the beds. I think there is a good chance we will see the POFQ beadspreads come back as runners in the next few weeks.

I was in building 6, riverview, from Nov. 9 to Nov. 16. We did not have the accent pillows. Peeking into other rooms as I walked by, I saw that they had them. I was disappointed that my room didn't but it certainly didn't ruin my vacation. In fact I have nothing negative to say about POFQ. CMs, mousekeeping, food court, buses - everything was great. My only disappointment was that the boats to DTD were not running one day, because it was too windy. But that was a weather issue, not a Disney issue. In fact it made it clear that the boat service is a fabulous benefit. We walked to POR for 3 meals and I was pleasantly surprised at how easy the walk was. We did take the boat back once and it was nice to have that option.

Before I left, I called about a bounce-back offer and was able to book a garden view room for the same week next year at 30% off. (The Saturday I arrive was not eligible for any discount.)

That was my third Disneyworld trip in 11 months and it will be hard waiting another year.

Not sure if that's what they've done, but the new runners which have just started going in over the last couple of days are certainly the same pattern:

So, what does everyone think, apart from the undoubted hygiene improvements, does this look better or worse than the original bedding from the last refit?

I think it looks fine. It was just all white while we were there but this is nicer. It's nice but not too overdone

We were in bldg 6 nov 8-18 river room we had room 6124 the appetizers at riverside were unbelievable. Due to injury I had to stay put A few nights. So we went to Riverside roost had piña colada I tried the best appetizers I've ever had.. We did a bounce back for next November 9th 3 trips in 11 months wow I wish we could afford that I love disney.. This next bb will be I for a few years for us we went the sat 3 years straight .. This time I will not be injured with Gods will and. Can makeup for some list time lol. Can't wait I made a ticker already

In regards to the bedding - will POFQ give you some sort of heavier blanket if you ask for it? Our family all sleep under comforters and I am afraid not having one is going to cause problems for us.

:worried:
