Resort Thread Disney's PORT ORLEANS FRENCH QUARTER Resort

I have been trying to extend our stay one night (Dec 5) and it keeps telling me nothing is available. You can get days around the date but not that date. Can someone haser a quess? I know they are remodeling some rooms would that be it?

I had a similar report from a member of my Port Orleans FB Group about the same date, so you are not the only one. (https://www.facebook.com/groups/portorleans.org/posts/10160761872774017/) . The room refurbs should be complete long before then, so it won't be that.

Just wanted to let everyone know that I just got the extra day. It just came up as available.

I'm glad to hear that things worked out for you! I've been obsessively checking the site for a single night to pop up as well. Currently have 2 nights at Riverside and 3 at POFQ because one lonely day isn't available to book. Saturday night end of Sept - only comes up if I want to book a package and even then, only 2 categories. I won't give up, I will check until I get it :P

Those that have stayed with kids of similar ages, do you think this resort is a good fit for a 13yr old boy? Debating on where to stay next year, FQ, CBR, or maybe WL depending on if any discounts are offered. Things I thought were great about FQ is overall size and 1 bus stop. Easy for my son to walk over to main building and grab a snack or to arcade. The pool area looks a bit blah and there’s only one…. I know we can go to riverside if we want as well, but seems more like a hassle for a midday or after park swim.

Hello everybody! I`m going back to Disney POFQ in early september and just found out it's under renovation. I'm traveling with a person with autism and the afternoon naps are a must. Does anyone has stayed there lately that could tell me how noisy it's getting from the refurbishment work? Should I change my reservation to Caribbean resort? Thanks in advance for any light on the matter.

It's not especially noisy as it's internal work in the rooms, and they close whole buildings at a time. Currently buildings 1 and 2 are closed (1 must be nearing completion by now) and they are working onward building-by-building until they get to 7. By September, I would have thought probably 1, 2 and 3 will be finished, so ask for one of those as they form the Southern Quarter (south of the pool) which are fairly separated from the other four buildings (north of the pool).

Do you think they are still on pace to be done in November? I am coming in on November 18th and wondering if there is a chance that I wouldn't get a renovated room.

There will definitely be some rooms completed by then, but I think the overall schedule may extend a little further than November 18, by about a month. However by that point the final building(s) should already be down for refurb, so there should be no 'old' rooms left to be allocated.

My ds 27 fav resort is WL. He stayed at FQ at age 9 and liked the resort then. He did riverside age 10. At that time he said he liked POR better than FQ because he liked the alligator bayou and the pool better. Also the pool at POR was both larger and warmer.

Oh I’m coming beginning of September, water view and requested building 5. Hope that’s not closed off. Usually stay in 3 or 4. Not fussed about having an updated room.

It could be closed by then, but probably not. They are working on the buildings in order, 1-7, to be finished before Christmas. If 5 is closed, 2 will have re-opened by then, which is a very similar location.
