Resort Thread Disney's PORT ORLEANS FRENCH QUARTER Resort

was thinking about booking here next week and was wondering how the construction is around the resort? is it loud/highly visible? if im at the pool am i gonna hear work going on and see it across the way at building 2?

Work is going on in buildings 1, 2 and 3 at the moment, with building 1 due to be handed back to resort use very soon. Those three buildings 1-3 are all of the "South Quarter" area, so in the other four (4-7) buildings in the "North Quarter" you'd never know anything was happening.

Do we know how soon building 1 will be back in action? We go in 10 days and I’m assuming we’ll be in an old room. I was also wondering about them opening 1 if work is still going on in 2 & 3. It feels like a nicer guest experience to do the resort in two halves.

This may be a weird question but I thought this was the best place to ask. Does anyone know if the water bottle fill station at the resort has a taste to the water? I’d like to bring a refillable bottle and avoid plastic but want to make sure I’ll actually drink it.

I’ve been using it daily; it’s fine. Must be filtered

Has anyone had any experience with trying to book a Bounceback offer for the PO resorts for 2025? Curious about dates and prices for next year. We are going at the end of September and are contemplating a Mardi Gras and a Halloween time trip next year. Any help would be appreciated.

There is a Bounceback Forum which would be a great place to ask. Also they have all of the dates on there for the bounceback offer

Here are a few pics I saw on Facebook of the new guest rooms:

"Port Orleans French Quarter refurbished room in building 1. About 60+ guests should be sleeping in one of these tonight. Some rooms will have walk-in showers instead of tubs, not sure how many as yet.

Sliding doors to vanity and bathroom areas, and a glass shower door. Lots more storage than before. Reading lamps by beds, and a small table for the guest on the far side of the bed. USB-A and USB-C ports. Beverage coolers not fridges. Cute little wooden step for kids to reach the basins."

I love these new rooms! I am so happy they kept 2 fixed queen beds and the table in the rooms. That little couch....I wonder if it's a flip down 5th sleeper??? So excited to have glass doors instead of the shower curtain. Also really like the long continuous countertop for "stuff" that always accumulates up there. The detail above the headboards is pretty. Nice to have the sliding door partition instead of the curtain.

I am not as excited about the bathroom closet/storage being so compartmental. It doesn't feel very French Quarter but I am happy it didn't go the route of cheesy IP like CR.

DD26 and I like it so much that we changed the first half of our Jan split stay from CBR to POFQ :hippie: Only problem now is DH won't want to move from POFQ to BC....

Im new to POFQ… what did the rooms look like when you liked them?
I’ve never actually liked the theming within the rooms lol. They’ve always seemed kind of boring and old-fashioned. But because I love everything else about POFQ, it doesn’t really matter. :)

We check in Thursday and I don’t know if it’s worth adding a request for a refurbished room to our booking or if it’s too late and we just need to take our chances.
