Resort Thread Disney's PORT ORLEANS FRENCH QUARTER Resort

How deep does the pool go at this resort?

4ft 5in for Doubloon Lagoon at French Quarter, 5ft for the Riverside Ol' Man Island feature pool and the two Riverside mansion building quiet pools, 6 ft for the three Riverside Alligator Bayou quiet pools.

Thank you! Looks like we will be walking over the the Bayou quiet pools for the deeper pools :-)

Looking forward to staying here at the end of March 2017. At first I wasn't excited but it is growing on me. I love the theming and all of the pictures!!!!

Well, after much consideration, we decided to stick with PORFQ instead of switching to POP. Yay! The pros outweigh the con of the food court.

Some questions:

1. Do they have the Gold Peak tea dispensers in the temporary food court?

2. Are there any special activities planned around the POR resorts for Thanksgiving?

3. Will there be a traditional Thanksgiving meal on the menus?

Thanks in advance.

To answer #1 They DO have iced tea in the new Coke Freestyle machines, not sure if gold peak or not.

Just got back from a stay at FQ, and I just wanted to also assure everyone that the temp food court is really rather great. I love FQ regular food court, but was pleasantly surprised by the service and food at the temp one. The only issue we had (that people have at every food court) was that at peak times there was a lot of waiting and you couldn't really get in there and grab ready to go food (drinks/pastries) and run.

We also just got back from our first stay at FQ. The CM worked hard to find us a room that was ready when we arrived at 6am. No complaints about the busses - we never waited long and most times got a seat. I did not like the temp food court. The menu was really limited and desserts were awful. I don't want a pastry or muffin for dessert with lunch! The drinks from the Freestyle machine never tasted right unless you caught them when they had just changed it. The unsweet tea was empty most of the time.

There was lots of miscommunication and non communication before and during the hurricane. We were lucky and got in the food line early evening and only waited about 45 mins. I heard many complaints of people waiting 5 hours. We went back down at around 10pm and there were still about 100 people in line and just as many waiting for their food. I refused to pay the $13 for the "box" food so we ordered off of the regular menu. I always heard that Disney takes great care of you in these situations but have to disagree after going through this hurricane there. I'm from Louisiana so I know hurricanes and would never stay at Disney during one again.

When I send my fax, would it help or hurt if I included multiple blocks of room numbers as examples of locations I'm interested in? Basically what I want is north end (ideally building 6 or 7) *on* Rue D'baga.

Gosh, I am so hoping that the temp food court is finished by 11/22. Well, we arrive late so my fingers are crossed for 11/23! :-)

Wow! Five hours is unbelievable!!!!

I had heard about the great care during these situations, too, so I am really surprised to hear about that. I'm originally from New Orleans now living in South Florida, so I know hurricanes, too.

Are there any other renovations planned for POFQ after Sassagoula Floatworks is completed?

Probably, there are always things in the pipeline. I wouldn't be surprised if we started to see room refurbishments beginning within the next year or two for example.

Things really varied I guess. We were at Disney during Matthew, the non-hurricane, and we had one of our best trips ever. Especially since it was all had while not in a park. I guess sometimes the ball was dropped but it was not everywhere.

I'm sorry you had a poor time with the food court. I guess we got really lucky during our trip to not have any issues with lines or the food there. Just goes to show that nothing ever works for everyone and nothing ever doesn't work for everyone. Someone is always happy and someone is always disappointed, even with the same things. Guess you never know till you try for yourself.

Thanks so much Andre for this Thread, and thank you everyone who reports back when returning from POFQ. Our family fell in love with this resort in 2010 and have gone back ever since. We leave 1 week from today and we're so excited!:cool1: We are a family of 15 this time :thumbsup2 (4 separate rooms) and we're wondering about the outside food court tables. We always choose to take our food outside and eat at the black iron tables. Has anyone done this during the refurb? Will they deliver food to you, or do you need to eat inside? We're such a large group and the tables in the temporary food court look smaller. Thanks all!

There are lots of tables outside still, but you may need to ask for them to make your food to go, so that it will be served covered (and I think many had them bagged up too). I saw a lot of people order their stuff to go, wait inside at a table with a number, get their stuff delivered and then go out. If they'd group it and bag it for you, it would probably work if you wanted to send some people out for tables and some stick around to pick up food.

Thanks so much for your response Mome Rath. It's always better to have the little ones running around outside while you wait for food to be prepared. :mickeyjum
