Hello,

I'm trying to find out if you can fit a laptop in the safe at Port Orleans French Quarter. Anyone know? Thanks!

Hello no sorry not enough room. We manage to the the iPads in but that's as big as it will take.

Thanks! That is what I was afraid of!
When I was there in, we put the computer in the dresser drawer under some clothes. Yes, someone could break into the room and rummage through everything, but if someone does that, they can break into the safe.

The safe just stops people from having sticky fingers.

Another question! When you go to the parks from French Quarter, do you stay all day in them or come back and return later? Another words, how much of a hassle is it to go back to the hotel during the day? I don't want to carry a lot into the parks.

We always try to hit the parks at rope drop, and stay until about lunch time then come back to the resort for a rest or some pool time. Then head back to the park about 5. In the middle of the day the buses are pretty regular, and not anywhere near as crowded as they are at the beginning of the day and at Park closing.

Yes. Meaning we do both. Just depends on what we want out of the day. I do not find it a hassle to return to the Resort and I carry only what fits in my pockets no matter if we are in the parks for 1 hour or 12.

I would like to do that, but I have A LOT of food allergies, so I'm sure I'll have to carry a least a protein bar and/or nuts that I can eat just so I won't pass out when I can't find anything. Plus, we're going in January and I hear you need to bring layers then.

Good morning. Arriving in early November and I've already set up a request through Touring Plans which outlines our priorities for the room. Short and sweet of course. My question- should I rely upon TP to send the fax, or am I better off sending our own? Just so I have it handy, can I please trouble those in the know for the fax # used by those who are in charge of room requests? Thank you!

* Sorry- this should be information requested for Riverside, not FQ.

I've used the TP service A LOT and they've always sent the fax. I think it may even be automated

I believe the fax number if located in the first post

Question on the safe situation: I know there is an in-room safe, but likely my laptop will not fit in it (even tho it's a 13"). What do you guys do to secure your laptops? Second, does the front desk have a safety deposit box set up? I'm thinking it would be safer to leave extra cash there instead of the in-room safe? How do you guys carry your cash for your trips? Or do you use debit/credit cards?

Thanks

I've put my laptop in a locked suitcase. Sure that won't keep it from walking away, but it's not visible to the eye and is better than just laying out.

We don't lock anything away, not electronics or cash.
I put my ipad in the drawer, more so it doesn't get knocked off a table while cleaning than anything. I just leave it plugged in charging and put it in the drawer.
If I have my laptop with me I put it in the bag I used to carry it and just sit it aside.
We use our MB for all purchases and then use gift cards to pay off the charges or let it go on the credit card on file if we don't have gift cards
We have a few singles for tips and we just leave those in one of our bags

I put cash, spare cards, passports, house keys, etc in the safe. I try not to leave other stuff too obviously visible. However I quite often stream a live webcam of the view from the window, so my laptop is out and powered-up all the time - although I do tend to tuck it away on the floor under the table and cover it with something when we go out, so it's not visible through the window.

While I have read a few cases of things "disappearing", personally I've never had an issue. I leave my electronics out, for the most part, plugged in and charging. And like the previous poster, we use our Magic Bands for most purchases, but carry somecash and cards with us. We use the safe to lock up wallets, travel documents, etc., mainly so we know where to find them again at the end of the trip.

One trip, I accidentally left the security bar across the door frame, so the door wouldn't lock behind me when running for ice, and forgot to move it back when we left. Our door was unlocked for several hours - we could see it was open as we walked towards it, and found a message on our phone. Dreading the worst, I listened to them tell me that Security found the door unlocked, and reported it, and they wanted to know if anything was taken. It wasn't. I immediately went down to the concierge desk to be sure that they knew it was my own dumb mistake, and not housekeeping, since I know they sometimes do that while cleaning. I sure didn't want anyone else getting in trouble from my stupidity.

I don't purposely leave things of value laying around, and we do adjust the window blinds so that you can't see in from the outside. But I don't fret about hiding things, other than just getting some things out of sight.

Any updates on the completion of the food court? Another thread I'm following said it should be completed by today (Nov. 1st) but the last few comments here seem to indicate it was nowhere near completion. Is anyone there now that could give an update?

Thanks!
