Resort Thread Disney's PORT ORLEANS FRENCH QUARTER Resort

I've read different threads where people decorate their windows and/or doors. Is this just for the values or do people do that here in the non-Christmas season?

I'm taking MIL as a 75th birthday celebration for her first ever WDW trip next Feb/Mar and was wondering if I should bring a birthday banner and maybe some battery operated lights, or clings or something? But I haven't seen any decorations when I've watched YouTube reviews of the resort, so I don't want to be out of place.

Thanks :)

Windows and doors are decorated for other reasons than Holidays. I have also seen decorations at numerous resorts. I say go for it but remember you are not permitted to use tape.

We're considering a 4 night stay at POFQ prior to 12 nights at the Animal Kingdom Lodge in the third week of September. I'm just wondering if the temporary quick service has the same capacity of the food court in terms of the number of guests it can seat? We would be eating breakfast there every morning and I don't really want to have to go to Riverside for breakfast, I think we'd lose quite a bit of time (one of the attractions of the FQ apart from the boat to Disney Springs was that it didn't have multiple bus stops so I don't really want to catch the bus from Riverside).

Obviously we can't say until we see what they've done inside Bonfamille's over the last couple of months - and indeed whether they might be able to keep some of the seating at the main food court open, if they do the work in the seating area in halves for example. Assuming the main food court is completely closed though, I can't see how there can be quite as much seating as there is normally, but we shall see.

I would definitely decorate for that! We saw birthday decorations, anniversary decorations, and there were some cheer/dance groups that decorated windows during our stay. We just used stickers (not taken off the backing, just propped against the window) to identify our room easier. They do have blinds but there is enough room to put things between them and the actual window. Here's a pic of what our window looked like:

This is a pic I found on a thread from a while back. I'm taking my daughter on a surprise trip for her 16th birthday this November and I'll be decorating our window with Sweet 16 and Princess and the Frog decorations (Tiana is her favorite princess princess:).

I just received the food court refurbishment letter the other day, and our stay is Nov 1-9th. I was kind of surprised to receive it, thinking the refurb would be done by then.

I got one too for the end of October, so I canceled and booked at the GF. I just didn't want the hassle of the food court being closed to affect my stay...

This has been on my mind, too. I'm debating back & forth. There's not much available for what I'm willing to pay this trip, and our dates aren't flexible, as my husband's running the 1/2 marathon on Wine & Dine weekend. I could get POR for about $135 less. Not much money in the grand scheme of things, but then I could get a room out in no man's land.

Thanks. I already have suction cups for our own window decorations. Are the doors metal? Just wondering if magnets would work/be allowed. I've heard of people putting out message boards.

Officially booked for a 5 night stay in May! How likely is it that we won't get discounts offered? I see they often offer "deals" in May, but some stuff says POFQ is excluded from a lot of deals?

Interesting. We check in on the 10th and are there through the 13th. We haven't yet received a letter. I'll be watching closely for updates. I'm glad to see that it looks like the foods we were looking forward to trying here will be available at the temporary location. It'll be interesting to see just how long the refurb takes and how this all unfolds. I haven't stayed at POFQ yet and am really looking forward to our stay.

It's my fav resort!

I would think as long as the food court is open, you shouldn't let the seating effect your decision that much. You can tell them that you want your food to go and they will put plastic covers over plates and you can carry it all on your tray back to your room.

I always attach room requests to Res and I fax 4-5 days before arrival. I've never gotten a room in no man's land :-)

You won't know till discounts are released. One of the reasons I don't book untill they are. Sometimes POFQ is included, but freq. it isn't. Good thing I love Riverside.

Yeah. Some of the ones available for the end of this year look to have POFQ. I suppose we can always adjust things if we need to. But will keep my fingers crossed until then.

If I am remembering correctly yes. I know I have used magnets with no problems at other resorts.

We'll be there November 11-15 and we haven't received anything in the mail about the refurb either.
