Resort Thread Disney's PORT ORLEANS FRENCH QUARTER Resort

Here right now. Nice resort, probably the best moderate. We checked in, had not received any of my preferences, so chose another room that fit the bill. Not sure why they couldn't fill them in the first place, resort doesn't appear full.
Nice rooms, although some bulbs burned out above the mirror and the wifi in our room is total crap. I've been using my cellular service. DS complains about it more than I do. Mostly quiet, we do face a service road and I hear engines racing by but they haven't woke me up yet. We apparently just got loud neighbors, there is a child next door having a temper tantrum but that is the only loud people I have heard all week. And air conditioner sounds like a jet engine taking off, but haven't needed it much. Room temperature is easy to regulate. It has been chilly the last few days!
Used the laundry once. Front loader, detergent $1 a load. Only appears to be warm water, not cold. $3 wash, $3 dry for 60 minutes. You need a credit card, not set up for the band.
Didn't try the pool or hot tub, but lots of people go to and from, considering the weather. Movies at night in the courtyard, even when only 1 child is there!
Food has been good, and can cover it to take to your room if you wish.
Bus services to parks good, busses come regularly both sides.
Beds and pillows comfortable, and housekeeping has been great. The day we planned an early return I called the night before and the room was all ready for us when we came in.
I am enjoying being here, love the compactness and friendly feel of the resort. If I come back to a moderate this would probably be the one I choose. It is much better than the Coronado IMHO, mainly because it is small and quiet - I feel much more at home here.

Has anyone visted POFQ recently? I am excited to visit next November, but I got nervous when I read a few reviews saying the resort was dirty. As anyone had a bad experience recently?

Not at all dirty. Very clean, lots of towels and washcloths provided. One shelf was dusty, but we just wiped it off. I really like the rooms. Nice furnishings, two sinks. Good shower as well, adjustable spray.

The resort itself is clean, a little drab because it is January, but lots of trees that will leaf out nicely.

Thank you for the info! Have a great vacation!

Man! Reading all of this is making me so excited. We are leaving in the morning and will arrive on Sunday for our first ever Disney Hotel stay (we always camp). Can't wait! Thanks to all for the helpful info!

Do they have the luggage service where they will transport you and your luggage to your room via a golf cart like vehicle? And if so, how much does that cost and the tip amount. I know when we go in December we will be packing quite a bit more clothing since it will be at leat 6 nights, and will be purchasing more souverners and gifts this time.

Does anyone know if there is a new thread for PO 2016 trips? Just wondering if anyone was going the same time we are. I posted our dates on the thread listed on the first page, but it only still shows 2015 dates. Thanks!

The last time we were there Bell Services used a van to transport guests and their luggage. It doesn't cost anything but I usually tip $2 per bag.

Can someone who has been at POFQ recently answer a couple of breakfast questions? I know the official wdw site menu isn't necessarily the most reliable, but currently it does not show any kind of adult breakfast platter - not the old "bounty platter" or the newer "create your own" platter. Is there actually still some form of an adult breakfast combo (eggs/bacon/potato/bread/etc) on the menu? (Not the bowls; I don't want everything piled in a bowl.)

Also, the official menu lists the breakfast sandwich now as a "French Toast Sandwich" (the replacement for the old Croissant Sandwich). Anyone had that? How was it?

We have stayed there numerous of times and I will be staying there the first week of February with my BFF (her first time staying here) and each time my family has stayed at POFQ we have never encountered the resort being dirty. In fact it is quite opposite, the rooms that I have stayed in have been very clean and the resort itself is the same. I wouldn't be nervous staying there, it is our favorite moderate and one of the resorts we like to call home.

My son had scrambled eggs, choice of meat, and things like hash browns, Mickey waffles, etc. there is fruit available as well as cereal and I think there was oatmeal as well.

Is anyone who's there now able to send some pics of the construction progress on the children's water play area? It should be just about ready to open I think, but news has been very quiet on that front. If it's easier, I've got a Dropbox link that lets you send photos from your phone or whatever (https://www.dropbox.com/request/p2r7CU2bYsNnnIazAeAM).

Andre

It was still under construction while we were there, but looked pretty finished, perhaps finishing touches? Did not take a picture.

Where do you catch the boat to Disney springs from POR?

From the boat dock at the marina. You can't miss it.

We will be staying here for NYE 2016 (yes I already booked, Im kind of a planner :rolleyes1) hence my question.....

We will be checking out on Sunday 1/1 and do not have plans to go to the parks that day (flight leaves at 5pm) - any suggestions on an easy way to get to another resort for breakfast? I heard its hard to get to another resort from FQ, so Im open to suggestions - Im guessing it would be a buffet, but we're not picky, just a sit down place is fine.

Thanks!
