Resort Thread Disney's PORT ORLEANS FRENCH QUARTER Resort

I just placed an Amazon Pantry order and it gave me a delivery estimate of May 18-20. I don't check in until the 23rd. Will they hold the box 3-5 days with no issues? Where should I pick it up? Bell services?

We just returned from a wonderful stay at POFQ on 5/8. Since I love reading everyone's reviews of the resort I thought I would submit one as well.
Check in was a breeze. I had only made one request and that was to be placed in building #4 and we received that request. We were in room 4246 and it was a great location facing the frog fountain. My brother and his fiance traveled with us and the gentleman at the check in desk asked them if they would like to be in the same building as us and gave them a room three doors down in 4243. They were originally supposed to be in building #7. We always use the swimming pools at the Disney Resorts and we absolutely loved Dubloon Lagoon. This was my first trip paying OOP instead of using the DDP and I'm happy to report that I came out ahead paying OOP. We loved the food court and ate there quite a bit. Some of the things we tried: Pizza, Burgers, Pot Roast, Create Your Own Salad, Macaroni and Cheese, Beignets, Danish, Croissants, Ice Cream Cookie Sandwiches, and Breakfast Platters. Not one thing was a disappointment. We took the boat to Downtown Disney one night and really enjoyed the convenience of being able to go on a boat ride rather than take a bus. Another thing we enjoyed was the resort gift shop. I found that if you did want some items to keep in your room for snacks, breakfast, drinks, etc. that they had some decent options at prices that I would expect to see at a Disney resort or any destination resort really. I didn't run across any rude CM's everyone was very pleasant and helpful and looked like they really enjoyed what they were doing. On our last day 5/8 there was a fire in building #4. The alarms started going off so I told my daughter it was probably nothing but since the alarm was going off that we should leave the room and suggested walking to the gift shop to see if there were any last minute things we wanted to purchase. On our way back we noticed that the alarm was off but outside of one of the ground floor rooms adjacent to the food court there was a lot of staff and it had been hosed down and mattresses had been pulled onto the front lawn area. Not sure what happened to cause the fire but it was resolved quickly! All in all we had a great stay at POFQ and while we like to try a different resort each trip we would not hesitate to stay there again. It's definitely near the top of our list of favorite resorts!

Transportation question: We're considering a fall or winter trip to POFQ, and it looks like a lovely resort. I have read conflicting reports on the order of shared bus service between FQ and Riverside, and I'm hoping someone who stayed recently can respond to clarify. I've read in several spots here that any shared busses between the two resorts usually start at FQ, then go to Riverside, but many recent reports on Trip Advisor, etc., say the opposite. Anyone have recent knowledge of the order of pick for shared busses? Thanks!

The routes vary, that's why you see different reports. Magic Kingdom buses don't share at all, and most of the others use the route POFQ > Riverside (multiple stops) > park. But not always, and at busy times there are often separate services for some other destinations.

Ditto what Andre said about the MK based on our last 2 trips. During the morning "rush hours" we didn't share with POR the last 2 trips to any park. Same with leaving around closing. On the weekend we didn't share Epcot mid-day but that may be because on both trips it was a F&W weekend. The bus for DTD has had the reversed trip POR 1st then POFQ. We only use that when the boat isn't running.

First time at POFQ as I've been staying at the DVC resorts for the last 20 years and I'm pretty excited. I'll be there in 18 days! I was wondering though how long a walk is it from POFQ to POR?

15 minutes give or take a few at a leisurely pace. :) My wife and I run the path while we are there. The entire loop is 1.5 or 1.7 miles. I do not recall which. You won't be walking the entire loop more than likely so closer to .75 miles.

Sounds right. We go up to POR several times a trip to either use their pool or hang out at River Roost . BTW there are short cuts thru POFQ, just don't head straight to the river path. Depending on your room location walking thru the grounds down to the river path can be shorter.

Thank you both! That doesn't sound too far. I'm thinking it would be quicker than taking a boat then. :sail:I plan on heading over to POR to check out the entertainment at River Roost next month. Yeehaa!

Leaving in a few days for our first stay at POFQ! I backed our trip up one day so we could enjoy the resort Sunday, sleep in Monday, run the trail, veg at the pool, then hit Downtown Disney! We will start our first park on Tuesday. I changed things up a bit by not hitting a park the day after arrival. With teens, I thought they might enjoy a lazy day after a long ride down. I am so excited! Trying to wrap things up in my classroom and staying focused is a bit tough right now!!

Unless you walk by the boat as it is loading on your way to POR walking is quicker (at least for us).Just a FYI we sometimes have dinner in DTD then take the boat all the way back to POR to see Bob's show. After we walk back to POFQ

Great tip! :thanks:

I have a question for the seasoned POFQ visitors. How are the crowds at the resort the week of Labor Day? I helped a friend at work plan her family trip when she "twisted my arm" (really doesn't take much:D) into going at the same time. While I've walked the grounds and had beignets on prior trips, this will be my first time staying. I went ahead and booked a standard view with the current special but am hoping to save a little more money when the next passholder discount is released.

I am staying here for the first time Sept 30- Oct 5. I got a great rate on a BB offer for a river view room. I have never booked anything other than a standard room at any Disney Resort before, so I am excited! I was wondering where are the best locations to request with a River View room. From what I have read, I was thinking about building 6? It is just 2 adults, and we would enjoy quiet without being too far away. Also, does the POFQ usually get passholder discounts? I am a new passholder and was wondering if I might could get a little better deal! Thanks so much!
