Resort Thread Disney's PORT ORLEANS FRENCH QUARTER Resort

His RO% is not that far off for GP offer. Per the Disney website it's up to 25% for moderates. A lot of times though RO discount at POFQ is much smaller.
Thanks, I understood that part. My reply was in regards to the generalization that FD always saves $$ over RO that seemed to be implied. I was just stating that there are many situations that could skew the results.

Ok...as far as your point goes, I am only talking about GP people who really wanted the free dining discount, but then got the RO discount (and aren't existed AP FL Residents). I'm not saying that everyone must get the free dining discount. If you don't want it and aren't going to eat anything in the Disney parks, then yes, the dining plan is not for you. I'm talking about people saying the RO discount for the GP is better than free dining and they don't see themselves spending $300-$400 on food, when in actuality you end up paying A LOT of money on dining for just 2 people. I'm also assuming everyone will eat their meals ON Disney property...if you're wanting to eat at outside chain restaurants, that's fine and the discount isn't for you.
Yep! Just like I stated in the last sentence of my PP, I totally agree. FD will always trump a RO discount at a Mod if used like normal, once you do TS's the price jumps big time OOP.

Back to POFQ:) I forgot to mention this, but when we were there in March I noticed in the FC eating area that under what looked like skylights, that everyone of them was blocked off with planks. I did not know if the planks were there to be used as a platform to stand on to work up there or just to block off the skylights. Anyone else noticed this?

I took a look at the discounts Disney was offering for our trip (We check in 10/2.) Most of the rooms included in the offer were the most expensive category. If I have to switch from a standard room to a water view room, the value is even worse.

Yes, my basic point was to see which option works out better for you - don't just assume that 'free' dining is really free. Believe me, generally there really is no such thing as a free Disney lunch (except if you are a TA that is :) ).

However we are starting to drift from French Quarter a bit here, could I ask that we get back on topic please? Thanks.

You're right. Sorry for getting off topic. It may have already been discussed, but have they added a monitor with wait times at the bus stop?

Not sure, we're still waiting for anyone to post from the resort after the bus stop re-opened yesterday. No one has said anything during the work so far though.

hi guys love this thread, just a quick question

do the cast members in the port orleans resort still give out the mardi gras beads?

There is no bus wait time TV at the bus stop, looks like maybe just fresh paint along the curb area?

I'm coming back to POFQ in December to celebrate my birthday!:cake: When does the resort start decorating for Christmas?

Yes, and sometimes coloured coins to throw into the fountain in the lobby.

Andre

Well now I feel silly....we didn't know they were to throw in the fountain...my kids still play with the pile they saved from our trip 2 years ago. Oops.

You don't have to toss them in the fountain, you can keep them if you want.
