Resort Thread Disney's PORT ORLEANS FRENCH QUARTER Resort

So do we know if preferred rooms are river or garden or pool views? Or just rooms close to the main lobby? I wish they'd update their room descriptions

I should have known to go here lol. Amazing site! Thanks

Thanks, hope it helps. While I don't yet know exactly where the Preferred Locations rooms will be situated at POFQ, I do know that the overall criteria for this category at all Moderates will be based on proximity to the main buildings, main bus stop, etc. It has nothing to do with how nice the rooms or the views might be.

Thanks Andre!

Building 2 is still closed off. I took this picture from the river side, but I noticed last week that these signs were also at the pool side, so I am guessing the whole building is closed. But that's just a guess. 1746324971912.png

Yes, they close the whole of each building while they are doing the snagging work. Building 1 is closed at the moment too.

I have an accessible room (roll in shower) booked and someone in a youtube video mentioned that the accessible rooms do not have the new banquette seating but rather a table and chairs. @andrewilley can you confirm if this is accurate? Or anyone else if you know?
Thx

Certainly corner rooms have the table & chair layout rather than the bench seat, I guess it would make sense if they did the same thing for Accessible rooms to allow better access for wheelchair users.

:wizard: We are coming to FQ at the end of the month. I'm confused about which buildings are currently closed and why are buildings that were open after refurb now closed.

1 and 2 are currently closed for snagging work (3 and 4 have already been completed), the need for which became apparent after the main refurbishment was complete. Disney haven't said why, but I did hear a number of guests commenting that the new shower screens were leaking, so it could be that?

How quick does the coffee/bengiet line move at Scat Cats Cafe first thing when it opens at 7? The husband won’t leave the resort without a proper coffee and I want to make rope drop so need to plan accordingly.

Dont know about the line there, but if he’s good with regular coffee and has a refillable mug, I have always found fresh coffee available at the beverage island at 6am.

I don't think I'd risk it, you really ought to be at the bus stop not much later than 7am to be near the front of the rope-drop crowd. You should be able to get coffee from the beverage island at the food court earlier than 7am though, if you have a refillable mug.

Arriving at POFQ in a week-is it worth sending a room request through Touring Plans or a fax? I have a general request attached to my reservation-(top floor, near food court) I do have a Touring Plans subscription so I can send through them but wasn't sure it that would just complicate matters. Also why are buildings closed again? Should I update my request to say Building 3 or 4 since seems like they are complete?

I would leave your room request as already noted. It tells the room assigners exactly what you are wanting. Top floor, near food court.

The problem with requesting a certain room number through TP is that room number doesn't tell the room assigner "why" you wanted that room. If that room isn't available, they don't have context for assigning your room. KWIM?

POFQ is such a small resort and common areas are well-located in the middle so nothing is a far walk. Have a great trip!

On TP room request form there is a section where you can type in more info about your room request so the assignors know why you are wanting that room. On mine I usually write:
1) First Floor
2) Near Lobby
This way they know my priority is the 1st floor and I'd prefer that even it's farther from the lobby over a room on 3rd floor close to the lobby. I would not add more than 2 or 3 specific requests.
That said, I agree that if the request has already been made there is no reason to go through TP. It would just cancel out and override any previous requests made anyways.

One thing I would add to that is to make such requests well in advance. The room inventory team can start blocking out guest rooms at WDW Resorts up to a month in advance, and they have some fancy new automated computer algorithms helping them now too, so the sooner you can get any requests in, the better.
