Disney's POP CENTURY RESORT Information & Questions

I was looking at a room at Pop for June 2025. It had this "warning" on the site.

From late March 2025 to mid-February 2026, Guest rooms at Disney’s Pop Century Resort will undergo refurbishment. While all resort amenities will remain available, Guests may notice construction during daytime hours.

I assume this is the soft refurb? When I asked on chat with Disney they told me the only refurb is the one going on now that should be completed before the end of the year. I mentioned the warning and they said they had no information.
I don't know exactly what will be refurbished and it seems bigger than the initial 'soft goods' we heard about but, I can say we visited a few times during the major refurbishment in 2017-2018 and were not inconvenienced. The construction tends to take place between 9AM and 5PMish.

We have a trip in the books for Aug 2025 and don't plan to change it but some others may feel differently.

I hope it includes paint and floor repair for those that need it. The room I'm in needs both, at least thr bathroom door and floor. There's chipped paint and flooring.

Hi All. Recently back from another great stay at Pop 🎉. Loved our 2nd floor end room in building 10.Room was in good condition everything worked fine. Only had neighbors on the one side of course and no noise issues with them. It was quiet 🤫. Loved walking out our door to views of hourglass lake to the left and the big wheel and giant foos ball guys to the right. Can't get those magical views here at home. LOL. At night we would walk the backside of the building to our room to enjoy the brightly lit rubic cubes. When heading to pool went around the corner and down the steps to the short walk to the computer pool. Short walk to the food court and skyliner. Weather was great all week including the night at the Halloween party. No skyliner issues either. Halloween party was fun and of course we will be enjoying Disney Halloween candy for weeks. LOL. From my earlier posts you know I love the new food court. We love the Pop food court atmosphere and spend more time there then many people do. Yes it was noisy during the day and you really couldn't hear the music they play but that didn't bother us at all. We will be able to enjoy that again soon. Can't wait to see the food court completely done. I have my two bounceback discount trips booked for next year and the soft goods refurbishment on the rooms will be a non issue for me. We sat through the food court noise so I have no worries on next years construction. Oh and Halloween at Pop was a fun evening again. I know this was a long post and if you are still reading thanks. I love Pop as you can tell. And before I end I want to give a big shout out to @scrappinginontario for all she does to keep this the best resort thread on the boards. IMHO of course.

Oh I forgot to include in my above post that although we used the skyliner almost all the time we did after a really good meal in the food court take the bus to the Magic Kingdom for the Halloween party. Walked out at 430 pm and within 3 minutes bus came. And no line going into the party either. Left the party at 10pm and only a few people at the bus and it came in less than 10 minutes. Got to see some of the fireworks too. And I love the improved location of the POP bus stop at MK. Only other time we used the bus was going to Disney Springs. No long waits going but coming back was a different story. I won't complain but let's just say someone was sleeping on the job. But otherwise when we used them the busses were fine. I did notice that the MK busses came pretty frequently all times of the day. Just wanted to add our bus experiences.

Some of our longest bus waits have been DS to Pop too. I think it’s a combination of the loooong walk to the Pop stop plus exhaustion seems to make the wait at DS for a bus feel extra long.

Just looked on the Disney website and it says refurbishment from March 2025 to mid-February 2026, That seems like an awful long time

They just do a section at a time. Pop has 10 buildings with 3 sections per building. So 30 sections in 11 months. So roughly 2 and a half weeks per to do 96 rooms at a time. If going by past precedent that is. Its a balance between limiting the number of rooms they take out of stock while also limiting the length of disruption to the resort. Honestly pretty surprised they are redoing anything at the moment considering they just finished modernizing the All-Stars not that long ago during the last round of updates.

@scrappinginontario I know this sounds completely silly but I find if I walk through the covered stores area. Come out by Planet Hollywood/ the Coca-Cola Store turning there into the bus pick-up. It doesn't feel as bad as when you walk out by Coach. Walking the entire length of the buses and seeing all the stops while having your resentment grow.

I'm 17 sleeps until Pop Century! I believe that housekeeping is still on the every other day schedule. Can someone confirm that for me? I'm getting my tip envelopes ready. I stayed at Swan in August and they were on an every day if requested schedule.

Thank you!

Currently here at pop now. Checked in on 11th check out on 20th and have only had room serviced ONCE! We have called and requested and reminded and asked nicely. It’s getting ridiculous! We had to call down for towels and TP at 10 tonight because we called before heading out for evening at 3 today to say we STILL haven’t had service and they promised they’d get to it or at least bring items to our room. But 10pm we returned and nothing. Again! And yes I’ve spoken to housekeeping management (who said we had a do not disturb sign on! Which we did for 2 hours on only one day) that doesn’t explain all of the other many days it’s a 9 night stay and one day of service and we are dumping our trash, piling towels up and begging for items.
Oh and hotel manager said it would be taken care of and that was yesterday. Pointless. They say all the right things and I’m nice and polite but it’s ridiculous. We’ve stayed here approx 25 times and never been ignored like this.
I know this isn’t the place to rant but I’m a loyal Pop Century lover and I shouldn’t have to defend having a do not disturb sign on for two hours on one day as to why my room never got cleaned. Don’t blame the guest.
FYI buses have been GREAT!!
Skyliner to HS it good and quick but it has taken a full hour to get to Epcot at slow times of day a few times. (Not open or close) and that seems excessive.

Did you speak to the front desk/hotel manager in person or call on the phone? We had an issue with housekeeping during our trip (staying at AoA) in June 2022. I called housekeeping on the phone (trying to give them the opportunity to fix it before going to the manager) and got no response after 24 hours (I know I was talking to a call center, but I wanted to give the "system" a chance to work), so I went to the front desk. Talked to the manager, nicely explained the issue and expressed my frustration (she, too, was frustrated with housekeeping in general that week). She called a housekeeping manager and told them to get to our room. After I had that conversation, we had a quick lunch at Landscape of flavors and then were heading to the park. I grabbed all of our mugs to run the back to the room. By the time I got to the room (maybe 15-20 minutes after I talked to the front desk manager), there was already a housekeeping "supervisor/manager??" (not a typical housekeeper -- different uniform) taking care of the things in our room (trash, the huge pile of dirty towels, dirty blanket (that was dirty from the day we checked in, etc.) and he said he'd change all the sheets in the room even though it wasn't part of the normal daily cleaning. I thanked him and he was very apologetic. The room looked great when we got back and we had *daily* housekeeping the rest of the week as a bonus (to make up for the lack of cleaning for the first half of our trip).

We've had the "room occupied" sign out a few times on our last trip (this past summer) and had the housekeeper knock on the door to ask when would be a good time to come back and clean. I appreciated that but know it's not a requirement.

I hope you're able to get things straightened out. It seems like I've been seeing a higher rate of complaints about housekeeping in the last few weeks -- not just at Pop.

That's crazy that it's taking so long to get to EP during the day. I don't think it's ever taken us more than about 25-30 minutes tops! I wonder what's causing that delay. We also had awesome bus service at Pop and AoA (split stay) this past summer.

Enjoy the rest of your stay!

That's ridiculous and I'm sorry that is happening to you. Stays as long as yours are so easy for them to service except for the day they are supposed to change your bed linens. I can certainly understand your frustration. I appreciate your post and I'll be sure to stay on top of things for my upcoming stay.

Safe travels back to your home (or wherever) tomorrow.

I'm so sorry this is happening to you. I agree with others and would go to the front desk and request to speak to a manager. One cleaning in 8 days is not acceptable when they're offering cleaning every-other day.

I too agree with others and am sorry you are having a negative experience at Pop. I just returned 2 weeks ago from an 8 night stay and had no issues with housekeeping .They were great. On one of my days for housekeeping I even called and asked if they could clean our room by 4 and they did. In all my many stays at Pop I thankfully have never had a housekeeping issue but if I was experiencing your issues I would have gone to the front desk and asked to speak to a manager. And as for the skyliner issue again we were fortunate with no issues to Epcot. We had smooth sailing every time. Sorry this trip was not as magical as it should have been but enjoy your last full day. I am sure if you choose to stay at Pop again you will have a much better experience.

Can you provide info about what caused this? Was the Skyliner down? If it’s up it runs at a consistent speed and that ride, including transfer, normally takes less than 30 mins mid-day. (6 mins to CBR, 15 to Epcot plus a minimal wait at CBR.) Guess if it was open and there weren’t lines due to it being middle of day, what caused the delay?

We are back in the room for an afternoon break and our room was finally cleaned! Of course it’s now our last night so that’s frustrating. But yes I did go to lobby and speak with manager person the other day and they said all the right things and said they would have housekeeping manager call me which he did but when he called her just wanted to act like it was my fault because we had a do not disturb on for one of our afternoons. And he asked me what time that was? I said about 1-2pm he said well if it’s after a certain time of the day they won’t come back around again. But what no one seemed to understand is that we aren’t talking about one day we are talking about many days and no sign on door and no service!

As for Epcot skyliner it was stopped several different afternoons with its lines built up wt the CB station. There was even one family who switched to HS line vs Epcot out of frustration. But two days around 4pm it took 50 min and another day it took an hour. We’ve also left Epcot at 8:30-8:45 to some long waits at both stations.
We don’t seem to have any issues with any HS trips at all. They are quick and fine.
Also all CMs have been great (minus housekeeping manager lol)
Buses have been amazing. Best ever I was actually haven’t waited at all for any buses.

My daughter and I stayed at Music from the 3rd thru the 10th of October and had issues with housekeeping. It's definitely a thing. And repeated please and thank you conversations with the front desk. Not the end of the world, but still.....

What brand/kind of tea bags are in the rooms? Is it the same as what’s available at the food court?

Thank you.
