Disney's POP CENTURY RESORT Information & Questions

Take a look at @RaySharpton post I quoted from last November. He was kid enough to post pictures of the fountain machines and beverage coolers for us! 👍🏻

Sadly the POP beverage selection is pretty limited and they don’t have Coke freestyle machines. 😞 Basically your looking at fountain machines that dispense Coke, Diet Coke, Coke Zero, Sprite, Orange Fanta, Minute Maid Lemonade and Powerade. They also have 4 flavors of Gold Peak Tea, coffee and hot chocolate. Not sure if I’m missing anything else?

When we stayed at the POP in June 2017, we ate at AoA foodcourt a few times because they had Mellow Yellow and I believe Cherry Coke.

For our trip in July, our current plans are taking our refillable mugs with us to HS/Epcot and using the freestyle machines at the Caribbean Beach and/or Riviera Resort (think they have FS machines?) and filling them up, to or from, those parks. We’re a Pepsi family and honestly rarely even drink regular Pepsi, so the added options like Cherry Coke or Mr. Pibb would offer us much needed change.

Does anyone know if there are any places on the Boardwalk that offer Freestyle Machines that can be used with resort mugs. That might also be a nice option and let us visit the boardwalk too! We miss taking that walk from our 2 stays at the Swan Dolphin.
I was thinking it might be a good option to walk over to AOA food court as a change of pace. Good to know they may have additional options!

So sort of related to what we've been discussing in regards to the cleaning between guests, but on a slightly different subject---is it possible to get unscented bath products in the rooms now that they are using the dispensers? DH has issues with fragranced products irritating his skin and we always haul unscented stuff to the resort with us, but then since our last trip I read you could request unscented products. But since hearing that, the switch was made to dispensers. So have I come full circle to bringing his own stuff again? ;) Thanks to anyone who knows! :)

I believe the conversations re: room ready at 3pm and how long it should take to clean a room have run the course on this thread. If you would like to discuss further, please open anew thread specifically about that topic.

Lets move back to specific questions and answers about Pop Century.

Thanks.
They are easy enough to skip over if you don't wish to participate in that particular discussion. People may post what they wish within board guidelines.

AoA food choices are very different from Pop's. They are worth the walk over to AoA.

I never said when the same family is in the room. I'm talking about between guests.
I don't care how long it takes. If my room isn't being deep cleaned after the previous guest regardless of I'd they had mousekeeping the whole time then I'll request it.

One last time (for me, anyway ;) ), no one said it isn't being properly cleaned. They just said properly cleaning it may take longer. (In response to one possibility as to why sometimes a room may not be ready for check in at 3pm.) We don't care how long it takes, either.

We're just surmising that it may take longer. And therefore it may not be ready at 3pm. And since you also don't care how long it takes, then the front desk CMs will be relieved to know there's one more person out there who won't complain at them if 3pm arrives but the room isn't ready. :)

While I agree, this thread is entitled ‘Pop Century Information and Questions.’ People come here for quick responses to specific questions, not to weed through debates. Open a new thread and discuss away.

Threads veer off all the time into related topics. They don't need more hall monitors. That's the mods job, not yours. If you don't like the topic, skip over the posts.

I thinks it’s worth calling to ask. My DD has a similar allergy but hers is to many detergents. I am able to request hypoallergenic sheets for her at Pop and it saves me taking our own sheets As I normally need to do.

It‘s definitely a nice to be able to do and depending on your room location it’s a relatively short walk. Also, in case you haven’t stayed at either resort before, you can use either resorts buses. When we ate at AoA it was usually before heading out to a part and we just caught there buses. if You see the AoA bus pull in to the park before the POP, or the lines shorter, feel free to take the AoA bus.

With the SkyLiner now, it’s also much easier to take the change things up and eat at the Caribbean Beach, Riviera or Boardwalk now! 👍🏻

Yep, nice and convenient option. That said it does sound like the foodcourt menus are more generic now and the variety is considerably less than they were a year or two ago?

Anyone can use any of the buses to anywhere on property. 🙂

Yes but there are no moderators on the Pop thread. Check the number of ‘likes’ that my requests have received. Many of us are ready to move on, it’s not just me.

Thanks! I have to call no matter what but you know how it is---you like to try to plan ahead a bit and even though we're still several months out, I'm already starting to get packing lists, buying lists, and general trip to-do lists ready. it helps us all feel like we're actively doing something to get ready while also getting the other family members involved in the planning, packing and such, which is nice for me! :)

I wish we would have done this on our last trip when we had to wait for a second POP bus and an AOA double bus was there. Does AOA have just one stop, like POP? We didn't make it over to check it out as we had intended.

I never said when the same family is in the room. I'm talking about between guests.
As am I. A party assigned to a room for multiple consecutive days is entirely different from a new party assigned to that same room the same day the first party checks out.
I don't care how long it takes. If my room isn't being deep cleaned after the previous guest regardless of I'd they had mousekeeping the whole time then I'll request it.
Again, why do you think your room isn't being completely cleaned between guests?

But I if you insist on an (apparently unnecessary) allergy cleaning, please be prepared to wait, likely until much later than the official start time for checking in.

Yes. AoA has 1 stop just like Pop. We often do this and stop at the AoA food court to refill our mugs.

sadly the AoA food choices were greatly reduced last Aug at the same time as they modified the Pop choices. many of our favourites are no longer there.

Yes, AoA only has one bus stop.

Yes. The resorts have almost the same footprint and number of buildings. Only one set of his stops at each, outside each resort's main building.

Your responses make no sense and it's as if you only take bits of my statements to try to start issues. But regardless I'm done.

Exactly! While I think it’s AoA was no doubt the right choice and a brilliant choice for Disney when they scrapped the Legandary Years (1900-1940s), it would be kinda interesting how the resort would have turned out if they stuck with the Legandary Years (1900-1940s). What would they have done to differentiate the foodcourts for each half century park?
