Disney's POP CENTURY RESORT Information & Questions

Where do you recommend for standard rooms? I have never stayed at Pop and will be arriving in September. I am trying to plan where to request for my room.

The last time I stayed in a standard room I was in the '90s building, which was a quick skip across the parking lot to the buses and even though we were on the first floor I found it to be very quiet out there!

For those new to Pop who are trying to gauge the size of the resort, in January we were in what I would consider to be one of the furthest rooms from Classic Hall. (Building 7, 4th floor, 7458). At a very slow pace after long days in the parks, it took us about 6-7 mins to walk to our room. (In the morning it was about a 3-4 min walk but we had more spring in out step then!)Pop Room Location 7458 - Jan 2018.jpg

Hope this helps!

That is one reason we never request a preferred room. I just don't think that any of the rooms are very far from classic hall. In comparison to the moderate resorts that need an internal bus system, the walk around Pop seems minimal. And since there are no balconies the view is not a huge deal for me.

I agree!

I will say though that if I am assigned a standard room in building 7 or 8 in the future, I will request a change and wait longer for our room if necessary. If we had a car it would be different but it made little changes to our normal touring in January.

Normally we leave our refillable mugs in the room then hop back to Classic Hall after a day in the parks but we carried our refillable mugs to the parks each day rather than leaving them in the room. It was just too far to walk back to the room to get them then back to Classic Hall to refill them after a long day in the park. We averaged about 25,000 steps a day on our Fitbits so even those additional steps were more than we wanted at the end of the day. The long walk to the room also removed the option for us to use the AoA buses or Food Court. Lesson learned for us.

Hoping we can return to the 60's section in December as that is our area of choice. I will say though that I love that each family seems to prefer a different area of the resort for their own reasons which spreads us out nicely! :D

I describe Pop as busy. It can get loud, but that's usually around the pools, or wherever large groups are congregating. As for rooms, I find top floor rooms with a lake view pretty quiet. It's also nice and quiet early in the mornings. If I want a quiet resort, Port Orleans FQ comes to mind.

In general, the rooms facing the lake tend to be quietest and preferred pool view rooms tend to be noisiest; 4th floor tends to be quieter than 1st floor. Or this has been the case for my family. However, a lot of the noise level is entirely dependent on the guests staying nearby. We have had very quiet 1st floor stays in the 70s and a very noisy stay in a 4th floor room facing the lake. Our noisiest stay by far, though, was a preferred pool view room (1st floor). We had quiet neighbors next to and above us, but the pool, movie nights, and music all played a part in the noise level we experienced. We will never stay in a preferred pool view room again!

Does anyone know what kind of coffee maker the refub rooms have? I love coffee and are excited to find coffee makers in the rooms! I am trying to find out what kind of coffee I need to bring to be able to use the coffee maker (even if they leave some there I would rather bring my own) Thanks for your help!!!!

Just got back from our 2nd stay at POP. Booked a standard room and was put in the 60's section, facing the lake, 1st floor. It was pretty quiet and a really short walk to Classic Hall. Also close to AOA. We loved the renovated rooms (last stay was before refurb). Kept the murphy bed up, since there were only two of us, and felt like we had so much space. Opted out of housekeeping (only there 4 nights). If there were room checks, we missed them, even though we took a break every day from about 1-4pm. Had a great time, I'd definitely stay again. Love the new flooring, always hate the dirty hotel carpeting.

The coffee maker does not accept k-cups. It uses pods like this. They are small, individual pods.

I'm sure I'm just missing this somewhere, but how does paying a RO balance with Disney Visa Rewards work?
I have done this several times. I usually call right before I leave for my trip and pay my room balance off. If I have enough left over on my rewards card, I go to the front desk the evening before checkout to apply it to my balance for my magic band charges. If you don’t do it before checkout, your balance will be applied to the credit card that you have on file.

Thanks so much! I didn't want to show up and find out that the reservation balance already been charged to my credit card. We don't need THAT much food/souvenir money! haha

Just a heads up that if you have a specific way you want to pay off room charges, you may wish to do so every few days as I've heard of Pop staff charging guest's credit cards at different times during their trip with their expenditures to date. Better safe than sorry.

I just upgraded to a preferred room (and added my BFF to the reservation!). I'm glad I won't have to worry about being all the way back in the 90's, that's just way too far away. I also requested to stay at the 70's, building 10. I'm faxing my request as well, so fingers crossed.

I went November 2015 and the ENTIRE 8 days it was 90+ degrees and very humid. All CMs said it was an unusually hot week so although November is typically beautiful...be prepared for anything. We still enjoyed our trip but had to revise our itinerary to include midday breaks in the AC.

Absolutely this can happen. We went in early December one year expecting mild temperatures and experienced record low temperatures with freezing wind. And although I am used to this type of weather in the winter, we were freezing. Not what we were hoping for but you just never know.

Hello friends! We just booked a few night at POP this August. This is the first time me and DD will be traveling alone! DH will be meeting us after a few nights and we were wondering if by any chance POP does ever allow a late checkout. DH will arrive at 4pm and we would love to hang by the hippy dippy for the day until we meet him without having to pack our stuff to move. I was hoping we could stay in the room until about 1pm- I would even pay a fee but didnt even know if this was an option? Thanks for any input! We are SO excited!
