Disney's POP CENTURY RESORT Information & Questions

I was at Pop in September and I didn't have an issue with waiting for buses or housekeeping. We stayed in a new room and the floors were very clean and we never waited more than 20 minutes anywhere for a bus to or from Pop. I guess I'm one of the lucky ones. I have another stay coming up in March so we will see if my experience is the same.

All stars each had their own bus - no sharing. While waiting for the Pop bus at MK at least 3 or 4 all star sports busses passed by...
Hoping the bus timing isn't an issue in January, when the holiday crowds won't be there, with the exception of those hardcore party-goers over MLK weekend. I guess jumping on an AoA bus back from the parks is also an option if Pop buses decide to take their sweet old time....

Taking the AoA bus will be my strategy as well if it comes to that.

I was thinking the same thing for our trip in March if it gets bad. We had great luck with the buses 2 years ago so I was hoping for that again. It was partly why I chose Pop again.

was there for two and a half weeks over Halloween and Wine and Dine race weekend and I think there was only one time that I had an issue with a bus and that was one that pulled into AofA instead of POP, but he covered it up by following the ring road around to get to POP. They were in the process of adding a lot of new drivers it seems, so hopefully they all got a lot of training time and will be at full speed for the holiday craziness. Can wait to get back there in 19 days!

I think a lot of it is when you go and what time you go to catch the bus back to POP from the parks. I've never had an issue with waiting to get the bus to leave POP and usually if I've had an issue at the end of the night it is because it is after fireworks or closer to close. It also depends on time of year as well.

I was there at Thanksgiving and had no problem with the buses. No more waiting than usual, although we were somewhat lucky in that there was almost always a bus just pulling up as we were arriving to the stop ourselves. We leave the parks early, but judging from the size of the crowd waiting, I wouldn't say it was a huge line so probably not an abnormally long wait even for those at the front. The one thing I thought was strange was one morning (at a little before 7 AM for an 8 AM park opening), the bus that arrived to MK was a "regular" bus, not the accordion style that usually picks up at busy times. I was glad we headed to Epcot that morning because the bus to MK in no way fit everyone who was waiting!

It's not uncommon for regular length buses to pick up even at peak times as there is a limited number of articulated buses available. Better a regular bus then allow crowds to grow waiting for articulated buses to be available. I visit Disney often and I'd guess I'm only on articulated buses to/from MK during peak times about 25% of the time.

I think I've only been on an accordian bus, my name for them lol, once or twice and it seemed even more crowded because it fits so many more people on it. I've had to wait for a 2nd bus to arrive before at the end of the night but not very often and it has been a 10-15 min wait each time. I also have a tendency if only a couple more people can fit on a bus and it's someone with a small child I will let them go first.

I like that, "accordion bus". I'm going to use that from now on.

I've always called the articulated buses 'accordion' buses. LOL. Funny that other people use this term. I've stayed at Pop Century several times and I've always only seen these buses going to MK in early morning. Actually, though, unless I'm going to MK, I don't pay any attention to what kind of bus comes along for that park. I only did this time because there was what seemed like a crazy amount of people waiting. It seemed funny that a smaller 'regular' bust was supposed to accommodate that many people. Perhaps this was part of the bus problem others have been mentioning here recently. I stayed there at Thanksgiving and didn't have problems.

One thing I like at Pop is the clock board that tells you what time the next bus is due in. Much better than wondering!
You're right! Those were a great addition! Hoping someday they make that information available on MDE too, but my first request would be allowing pre-ordering when using dining plan credits.

I want that to happen too! We are using the DP in March and I wish we could pre-order.

Every WDW resort has those.
I was confused because every Disney resort we've stayed at has had one of those boards.

We were there over Thanksgiving and thought the buses were bad, too. The buses picking up from Pop were great, but we waited a LONG time at the parks for Pop buses to ever come while other resorts (even All Stars) had multiple buses stopping by.
We've always had this problem with buses at night for POP. Very long lines and waits, it's supposed to be better than other resorts that have multiple stops since they have a dedicated bus, but it never seems like this is any advantage at night.

Does anyone know when all the rooms at Pop are expected to be completed their renovations?

Thank you,

Nobody really knows except that their anticipated target of May 2018 will not be met.

If it helps, it took 8 months to complete and reopen the first 4 buildings. The 5th building has been closed for a little over a month now and it's not yet close to reopening. So far it has taken an average of 84 day to complete each building and there are 10 to complete in total.
