Disney's POP CENTURY RESORT Information & Questions

I noticed in one of our rooms the shampoo and conditioner was half full so I am assuming they may have just given us what was left over from the previous guest.

That's not good. Hope you mentioned it to someone.

Hi everyone  DH and are considering a trip to WDW in April, and if so we would likely be staying at POP. I’m familiar with the resort in a general sense, but I’m just now starting to look into in more detail to prepare. My main concern is space in the rooms (old or newly renovated). We have only ever stayed at POFQ, and we have 2 ECVs. No problems fitting them in to charge at night there. But I’m not sure about how that will go at Pop. I’d appreciate input from anyone with experience! And I’m looking forward to joining in the discussion on this thread :earboy2:
We stayed there with two ECV's in June 2016, going back in May 2018, hoping to get a renovated room, from the pictures, it looks like there will be more space with the Murphy bed up!

We are on our way home from a week long stay at pop. We had requested a refurbished room and got one on the 90's. It was our first stay at pop and I have to say I was incredibly disappointed in the housekeeping.

We did not decline housekeeping as I did not want to run down towels. We tend to be at the parks all day and get back later at night.

There was a layer of dust on the floor under the bed and the rest of the floor was so dirty that the bottom of my socks turned black. I had brought bleach wipes with me and so I cleaned the floor some with those. We have stayed at a studio at the poly twice without this problem.

The table and dresser top were dirty as well and had to be wiped down.

FYI - The rooms are very small. You cannot keep a stroller in the room if you need to use the pull down bed.

This is disappointing to hear. We’re going in February and I want to decline housekeeping because I don’t like dealing with that on vacation. I never bring wipes or anything but I might need to this time.

Our first stay was in a room only open a week ........ floors dirty. If I were returning for a longer trip (am in January) I'll likely pack my wet swifter. We have come to accept lesser housekeeping and that is sad. I don't expect lesser at other brands, but I do now at Disney. Brand new rooms ... how are they not making sure they do it all. Our last trip we also had dirty floors and to add to that we didn't get toiletry replacements, beverage center replacements or an empty/new bag for ice bucket.

Maybe we all need to start complaining all the time because as long as we accept this, nothing will happen.

I do disagree with the stroller issue. There are two large spaces on either side of the dresser and room in front of the beverage center where folks are parking ECVs, pack n plays and we had large rolling cooler plus several bags lined up with room to move around.

Agree that anyone who finds the floors dirty should complain. We also had this problem. We took off our shoes upon entering the room to try to prevent tracking in any dirt, but it was futile. The dirt was there before we were. Our socks were filthy after walking around our room in them. I have emailed Disney to let them know that housekeeping does not appear to be doing an adequate job in keeping the new floors clean.

Also agree that yes, there is adequate space to keep a single stroller of the larger jogging variety in the room. It's even possible to do it without blocking the door. We put ours kind of in front of the refrigerator, near the window. We had to push the stroller back towards the door to open the fridge, but it does fit. A double would be a tight squeeze. Can anyone share if you've been able to fit a double stroller in the room with the second bed down?

I believe I was the first guest in my room in September (the fresh paint fumes were still very strong, lol) and one thing I thought was odd was they didn’t seem to be mopping or wet cleaning the floor, and it needed it. The only thing I saw them use on mine was the dry Swiffer. I was in the room a few times when Housekeeping came in, and I never saw them use anything else. A dry Swiffer isn’t going to clean the floor, because there’s just too much black sooty dirt in the air here. I fight it all the time on my tile floors at home and use a steam cleaner several times a week to keep things clean. I think at the very least they should be using a wet Swiffer. Or they could use a steam cleaner with washable cleaning pads like I use at home, if they think the cost of a wet Swiffer would be too high. I am kind of anxious to see if I get a refurbished room either this month or next, and see how they are holding up.

I do plan to email Disney when we are home regarding the dirty floors. I could have complained while there but don't want to spend my vacation time in a line waiting to complain.

I also plan to mention the bathrooms at the animal kingdom. We were there Thursday night and there was a considerable amount of trash on the floor around the stalls and the garbage cans were overflowing.

We fit our double stroller in the room with the bed down. It was tight getting it in/out the door, but we managed. We did not fold it down once and still had enough space to move around. We kept it in front of the windows.

The floors did look kind of worn for being brand new. However, our main complaint about our Pop stay was the busses. We had no issues at all stars, but the bus service was awful at Pop. We waited an hour for a bus to leave MK Monday night at 11 during EMH. We also had a bus driver think he was going to POR instead of Pop on the way back from Epcot and took a 45 minute detour...

Here now. Great room in 80’s. New. Pretty far from food court & busses. But at least it’s quiet back here with no foot traffic, lol.
I’ve noticed problem with busses too. Really bad. Long waits both at resort and parks. We had a bus today pull away with only 1 person in it at AK stop. We were just entering ropes at stop and he left, I guess he didn’t bother looking to see if anyone was coming.

We were there over Thanksgiving and thought the buses were bad, too. The buses picking up from Pop were great, but we waited a LONG time at the parks for Pop buses to ever come while other resorts (even All Stars) had multiple buses stopping by.

POP is our favorite resort however this is one thing I happen to agree with and find extremely annoying. The POP stop at all parks are usually the very last stop and furthest away from the entrance and longest wait. We drove for the first time last year and loved not having to wait for a bus however we also weren't at POP, stayed at AKL for the first time. I'm trying to convince my DH to drive again in September or at least rent a car so we don't have to deal with the buses.

I don't even own a swiffer and I don't feel like I should have to bring one on vacation when I am paying for housekeeping to do the job for me. I probably will just end up complaining if it is too bad. I won't be in the room that much, but with 4 people staying in one room I don't want to worry about how dirty my socks are getting.

I hope it is just the time of year because I chose POP over AS mostly because of the bus situation. I've only read good things about the buses until recently so hopefully that gets fixed.

Ugh. Going to Pop for the first time in January, picked that resort over the All-Stars partially because of the dedicated bus service. Hope it gets better....

We had a refurbished room in Building 10 on the 4th floor from 11/22 to 12/2. Absolutely loved the room. We had a horrible time with housekeeping also. One day we didn't even get towels. They took the dirty ones, but didn't replace them. Counters weren't wiped off, floors weren't swept (we took a wet rag and cleaned the shower and sink floor, and it was filthy). We were just really disappointed with it.
But, we have been staying there for years, and I think this is our last time because of the busses. We waited 45 minutes for a bus to Epcot at 9:30am one day. Not because there were so many people, but because there was no bus. My parents waited almost an hour to get home from Animal Kingdom, and no one cares to help. We took a cab back one night from MK because the busses just weren't coming and it wasn't even closing time. We talked to a lady who was staying at Fort Wilderness and they waited over 2 hours to get to the Studios one day. It was just ridiculous this time. I think we are just going to take some time off from Disney and save up to stay somewhere else. Hopefully, the Boardwalk, so we can walk to 2 parks and monorail to the 3rd.

Oh don't get me wrong I totally agree we should expect & get clean floors ........ and if you go way back you can see this was my biggest concern before these rooms opened. So many were saying these floors will be so much cleaner and so easy to maintain. I disagreed ............ and sadly my experience and others has been .... dirty floors. And while we can't discuss the "money" left ......... let's just say I should not have dirty floors and should be getting my supplies replenished etc.

It just seems that folks are okay with the subpar housekeeping that Disney offers and you see complaints ongoing about it.

I think you're right and if people don't complain straight to Disney they probably won't ever fix this. Although, it seems like right now when anyone complains they just throw more FPs at you, which makes the FP system ineffective. I'm not sure what a good solution is, but the simple thing is that if you're paying for housekeeping you should expect a clean room. I've never had problems with housekeeping in any other resort.

The POP bus service was great on my trip last March. The only long wait I had for a bus was going from HS to EP (probably should have walked with how long it took)... so that wasn't a POP bus.

The current situation sounds terrible.

All stars each had their own bus - no sharing. While waiting for the Pop bus at MK at least 3 or 4 all star sports busses passed by...
