My favorite room at Pop is 4441...bldg 4 (60's), 4th floor, room 41. So quiet!!! Wish I had gotten it for my stay last week! I was in bldg 7, on the back side, facing the parking area and lake. Very quiet, but a bit off putting for a woman alone to be walking back there late at night. Anyway.....everything else was terrific, as usual. Well, except for the huge group of young South American girls..probably early to mid teens. They had at least 24, if not 36 rooms in that same area...with 4 girls in each room. Not sure what they were there for....they carried backpacks that said 'enjoy quince' but I doubt it was a birthday celebration...way too many girls for that, one would think. But, they weren't too noisy unless they were out and about en masse...heading to their private buses (thank heaven!!!)...much chanting happened then, or when they were just walking around the resort.

Yes, we were across in 60s building 5 on the 4th floor for our first time at Pop last yr., and loved our location. We did pay for preferred (totally worth it here IMHO!) and had requested 60s building 4 or 5, and top floor, and it was great. Close to food court and bus stop, right off pool, but around the other side so still quiet.

Just an update from our recent stay at Pop Century. We were in building 3, top floor corner room facing the lake. We could see the fireworks standing outside our room (but kind of blocked by the bowling pin/stairs)
Mousekeeping was great, clean room, plenty of towles. Even made the cot each day. Arranged daughter's stuffed animals and we got a elephant towel.
We purchased a at Walmart for son (12) to sleep on. 80x32x18.7. it fit perfectly between the wall were the heater/AC power was. Just pushed the table against the dresser.
Food court was OK. But same as all the others, someone's food gets cold if you need more then one line. But the pasta was a good choice. The cashier's had a tough job trying to explain meal plans and reusable cops to those who where from.other countries. Truly wish they had a dedicated line for express (know how to use plan or just paying cash/credit)

I would LOVE this. But, you know the same people who don't understand how the meal plan works, wouldn't understand the sign either so we would be back in the same boat.

I wonder if Disney would ever entertain the option of a single line and then the person at the front of the line goes to the next available cashier? I much prefer this option when shopping or at local Tim Horton's, etc.

In theory this would be awesome, but have you seen some of these places during peak times, there is barley any place to move as it is.

Okay planning trip to wdw. This will be my third trip to wdw ever first visit was POR second was WL, this will be my first solo trip. I am coming during a half marathon weekend so what should I expect for transportation to parks and espn zone (that's where race expo is right?), how hard is it to get king size bed, and building I should request, really any advice in general?

I don't believe PoP has any Kings. They have a queen and then a murphy bed. But the ESPN zone is less then a ten minute walk, Unfortunately there are no sidewalks, but I think since its a marathon weekend the busses will be running at different then normal. I don't think there will be much of an issue there. I know when the Christmas concert was happening at ESPN my BIL had no issue with catching a bus.

There are King beds at Pop. Whenever we get a handicapped room for Mom, it has a King. Don't know if you can get non handicapped rooms with a king.

No, POP has kings and the queen/Murphy bed configuration is what the newly refurbished rooms will have but that has only started this month. Currently you can get a room with 2 doubles.
This is good to know, is it just one king? Or is there another bed in the room?
King only...no second bed right now.

I thought the new config was going to be a queen and then Murphy bed. The rooms are not large enough for a King and then queen murphy bed.

Perhaps I didn't word it correctly. They have kings. They will have the queen/murphy combo in the future.

LOL. Ok, I've just never been in the room with a king. Just researched it. I'm looking forward to the queen because there will be three adults and the fulls were a little cramped.

This will be the first time we aren't flying home early in the morning on our departure day. We have an 8:30 pm flight home so we can enjoy an extra day in the parks. I plan to have everything packed up early in the a.m. before we leave for the parks. What is the procedure for stashing our luggage/carry-ons til we come back to POP in the evening. Thanks.

If your airline uses RAC you can check in your checked baggage. They close around noon. If not they can be left with bell services/ You can leave your carry on with bell services. Just give you time to retrieve them so that you are not late for your DME pick up.
