Disney's POP CENTURY RESORT Information & Questions

I bring pods like Tide or the cheaper ones (heck they all work! Use two for really stinky sweaty stuff) and also I bring dryer sheets! They never sell those things, but if they did they're way too expensive in my opinion. Even just me and DD on trips I do laundry, so I can imagine with many kids needing to wash almost daily!

I have looked through and seen some laundry posts (<3 the link for the "available washers!") but not sure what everyone does for detergent. We are going for a week (!) and with 5 kids, we'll need to wash at least some stuff! Do you bring your own from home, is there some to buy in the laundry room, or at everything pop? thanks!!

I rarely do laundry at Disney but I do always bring supplies along just in case. I save the sample size detergent packets that I get in the mail (or I go to websites and order some) or I just buy the travel size bottle of tide at Target. I throw in dryer sheets as well as a few Shout Color Catcher sheets and we're good to go.

Question about room categories at Pop...

Why do Standard Rooms have views of Hourglass Lake, while Preferred rooms have views of courtyards or other buildings? It seems backwards to me.

Question about room categories at Pop...

If you're facing the lake you are in the back of the resort, furthest away from the buses and food court. Besides at a value the view is not that much of a consideration. Not like there is a balcony or even chairs to sit and enjoy looking at the lake unless you sit inside and watch people walk across your view.

Preferred at the values is all about proximity to the main building.

Some preferred rooms are literally across the hall from Standard Rooms.

They're not across the hall from each other, they are on opposite sides of the buildings. Thus making the standard rooms a longer walk to the food court and buses. Granted not that much farther, but not as close as if they were across the hall from each other.

That's true. I'm still mentally picturing the resort to be like AoA, which has interior corridors. My bad.

  • HA!! Oh man I still (vividly) remember my first trip to Venice... A calzone? In Italy? YES! ----NOOOO. Raw egg inside as one of the "normal" toppings.
PS I'm jealous, Germany is so phenomenal. Every season is awesome w/ festivals and such, but the Christmas Markets...dang it! :) enjoy! thanks for serving!
After 5 years of being here we really miss the States and it dont look like we ill be leaving any time soon so we just booked a month for next Oct at DW and two Disney cruises. That will give us our fill of the States. Also, after being here so long the Markets and such all get to be the same ol' thing.

I don't think it really has anything to do with the view. The preferred rooms are closer to Classic Hall and transportation.

This is not always true. I had a preferred room a couple of weeks ago at ASMo and we were place at the very back of the resort. We were only there for the weekend and weren't in the room very much or otherwise I would have complained about paying for a preferred room and being so far away from food and transportation.

Well I was there for a little over 3 years...so I get that to some extent ;) a month that sounds AWESOME!!!! but now that we've been back in the states for 8 years, and have had 4 more kids...my husband and I are itching to get back to Europe...so much we didn't get to do! We even have a separate "jar" for Scotland/Europe fund (this is actually a little more full than our Disney fund haha but only b/c I just paid in full ;) )
Enjoy your magical month!!!

Scheduling question for the all-knowing DISers out there (of which I aspire to be but am not yet one!)
We arrive midday on Thanksgiving, first park day is the Saturday. I was thinking of trying to get the fam (5 kids) to the Poly beach for fireworks or something...we won't be getting a car, and a cab is out of the realm of possibility. should we do a bus from Pop to DTD? to the MK and monorail? and then...getting back afterwards...just not sure how to make it work out.
any suggestions are welcome :) Thank you!!

sounds like you paid for preferred but got placed in a standard. There is no way all the way in the back is preferred. Our first trip to WDW we were ALL the way at the back of the resort at All Star Music. It was our first trip and I didn't know any better and just booked a standard. After that trip I pay for a preferred room now and make sure I get it. So sorry you were all the way in the back

DTD will not go to MK. From DTD you would just get a bus straight to the POLY.

But I'd get a bus to MK (from POP) then take either a boat or the monorail to the POLY.

Then Monorail or boat to MK and then bus back to POP.

I was at Movies and had a preferred. I was on the back side of Fantasia near the end of the building that faces Love Bug. It kind of feels like the back of the resort but it's not. LOL

Oh ok. I just looked at a resort map. I see what you are talking about now. When we were at All Star music, all the way in the back was way way in the back. It was awful.
