Disney's POP CENTURY RESORT Information & Questions

Yep I've done Music as well, once preferred and then once standard.

I was in Country which is all the way straight back and can seem a little long.

I think it has to do with the layout. Music is kind of in a T or flat Y shape while Movies and POP are both more horizontal or crescent moon shaped. Sometimes the difference between preferred and standard at the more curved resorts is about 1 minute of walking.

Scheduling question for the all-knowing DISers out there (of which I aspire to be but am not yet one!)
We arrive midday on Thanksgiving, first park day is the Saturday. I was thinking of trying to get the fam (5 kids) to the Poly beach for fireworks or something...we won't be getting a car, and a cab is out of the realm of possibility. should we do a bus from Pop to DTD? to the MK and monorail? and then...getting back afterwards...just not sure how to make it work out.
any suggestions are welcome :) Thank you!!

I've done this (while staying at POR) a time or two and have always done bus to MK and then boat or Monorail to Poly. However the issue always comes in trying to get back to the room when you are packed on to the Post fireworks buses. If I were to do it again and rely on Disney transport I think I would do PoP>MK>Boat to Poly and then Poly>Bus to DTD>Bus to POP I would imagine that the bus would be much less crowded and not filled with Stinky sweaty people trying to get back to their room after a long day in the park.

This is not always true. I had a preferred room a couple of weeks ago at ASMo and we were place at the very back of the resort. We were only there for the weekend and weren't in the room very much or otherwise I would have complained about paying for a preferred room and being so far away from food and transportation.

That is crazy. I agree that we are only in the room to sleep but if you paid for a preferred room, you could have gotten what you paid for.
I looked at the room category at ASMo and it looks like most of the resort is preferred. Every room in both Fantasia buildings, both Toy Story buildings and both 101 Dalmatian buildings are all preferred even though some of them look like quite a long walk to Cinema Hall. The only buildings that are standard are the 2 buildings in the Love Bug section and the 2 buildings in the Mighty Ducks section.
Were you possibly in one of the very end rooms in the back of the Toy Story or 101 Dalmations that may have felt like it should have been a standard room?

Ok, I think I am :offtopic: on the POP thread. :rotfl:

My sister called into Disney today with everyone's flight info for DME and our room request. We have 4 rooms and wanted to request "adjoining" (next to each other) with two of them "connecting" (with a door in between). I told her exactly what to say using those terms. The CM she talked to said that since our reservations were linked we would be as close together as possible and then marked the two rooms we wanted connecting as adjoining and said it meant that it would have a door in between. I know that a request is just a request but I want the request to at least start being accurate. I feel like we have even less of a chance of getting what we want if it's listed inaccurately. Any suggestions on how I can word if more clearly when I call back?

I think, just calling back and getting another CM that may have a little better understanding would help.
I understand perfectly what you are needing/wanting and I am not a CM :rotfl:
I have talked to many, many CM's some that are soooo knowledgable, helpful and go over and beyond to make my phone call experience magical and others that are don't know a thing. If I had to call back 10 times to get someone that knows what they are doing, I would.
When you call, start by asking what room requests they see on your reservations. Make sure they have the same requests on every reservation.
Something like "connecting rooms with reservation # XXXXXXXXXX and also adjoining with reservation # XXXXXXXXXX & XXXXXXXXXX"

GOOD LUCK!

Does anyone know what is going on at POP January 15-18, 2016?
It has been all booked up for awhile.

Thanks so much! I will do just as you suggest! I appreciate all the help you give here on this thread!

Maybe an odd question - staying at POP end of November for a quick trip, my daughter loves those fruit and veggie pouches she usually has 1 sometimes 2 a day. Does anyone know if they sell them at the pop or anywhere on site?

Don't want to do a Amazon pantry or garden grocer order for 3 days....

I think you want to request four adjacent rooms. Adjacent means side-by-side (beside each other), while adjoining can be confused for "joined/connected" (like with a door).

So I'd say you want four adjacent rooms (all in a row), if possible, with two of them being connected (adjoined).

Yes, I know this about another resort. I'm just saying that just because you book in a certain category doesn't mean you will get a better room or location. It's happened to me several times. We normally always stay at Pop. This time I booked late and ASMo preferred was all I could get. We were all the way at the end of a Fantasia building facing the parking lot. I have had many standard rooms with better placement and view. If our room was categorized preferred, it was a rip off. I normally only book standard for this exact reason. When I do book preferred it is always worse than my standard room.

MLK weekend is always busy isn't it?
Other resorts have openings, but POP is one that doesn't. Just wondering if something like "cheerleaders" were staying at POP. (FYI: Right now we are booked at PORFQ for those dates, but I wanted to switch to POP.)

I so hope you didn't take that "off topic" comment directed to you or anyone else, it was directed to me:rotfl:. I just know that I always give such a loooooong answer and that I was getting off topic. I agree with you 100% and I am so sorry if it came across offensive. So many of the preferred rooms are far away and should be changed to a different room category. We haven't stayed at any of the AS resorts since POP opened and it was long before they had room categories but I was shocked when I looked at the room category lay out and saw the ends of the Toy Story and 101 Dalmation buildings and the ends/backside of the Fantasia building were preferred. It seems to me, after looking at the room category lay outs, that the majority of the AS resorts are preferred rooms, leaving very few standard rooms. I guess that is a way for Disney to make up some $$ at the AS resorts which doesn't seem quite right.

Apologies in advance if this has already been asked. We're going here in a few weeks and will use one of their pack and play cribs. Where does it usually fit in the room?

Thanks!

It usually fits in the open area that the connecting door opens into. You can also move the table and chairs in the room someplace else and place it there. One other spot is in the bathroom sink / closet area behind the curtain if you want to have the little one asleep while you have the tv on.

How is this done? with curtain in sink/closet area?
