Checking into POP in 4 days!!!
Called the back office to confirm they had my room needs met....
My manager friend wasn't working but another manager confirmed I was good to go and they even marked my ressie that they are NOT to move my Room. I am a late check in and sometimes if someone else does not like their location, they will flip rooms around.
I lucked out and they even told me which bldg I am in!! WooHoo!! I know they slipped when they said that but I am happy!!!

Is this typical or because you knew one of the Managers?? Can I check something like five days before my arrival and find out if they actually have my room or building number assigned????

If it were me, I'd get retrieve them myself and bring them on the bus. Technically it's not too late, but you would have to allow a few hours for them to possibly deliver them. It may very well be after midnight. I wouldn't want to worry about them not coming until the next morning (I've heard many stories of that happening). I'm also a control freak, and have only used the luggage delivery service once (arriving in the morning).

I refuse to use the service. I too am a control freak. I will pick up my bags from the baggage carousel and take it with me to the ME bus. And that's that. lol.

Don't know how silly this question is but do people ever get a preferred building without having requested it???

The 50's, 60's, and 70's have both preferred and standard rooms. I've never personally been given a preferred room at Pop if I've paid for a standard room. But there are many excellent standard rooms that are better then the preferred rooms IMO.

I really want to say yes to you, but I'm not 100% sure. There were packets of jam/jelly, syrup, hot sauce, Parmesan and something else. Maybe honey? Hopefully someone else will know for sure.

Thank you, actually, jam may work. I cannot swallow pills, and I have to grind up one of my pills, and it's completely vile tasting, so I usually mix it with water and a spoonful of honey to get it down. It's so bitter tasting and nasty.

Did my online check-in this morning for a late November trip. Thinking of calling up the resort to try to request a room with a King Bed. Would I need to call the resort directly or the usual 800 number?

There is no way to call the resort directly. So just call the main reservations line and add the request for a king to your reservation.

It's a fun thing to do, but at the same time, I don't like not being spontaneous anymore. I guess I could change them though.

I had a BIG problem with that in my head. I did my fastpasses about a week ago and hated it while I was doing it. I don't like CHANGE when I am comfortable doing something the old way. When I first heard about it I said to myself... they are forcing me into a schedule for my rides??? Oh heck no! (When I was last there - they had the paper fastpasses and I just walked right up and got them and went back on about your business)

But for some reason after I had made my selection acceptance settled in. I told myself this really isnt a big of a bellyache as you are imagining in your head. If anything (for me at least) I think it is a tad more liberating. Maybe I cant just head to the 7DMT as soon am i am done my ritual MAIN STREET trek. But with the fastpass for this and the other two rides... I can still go on and do whatever i want without thinking about those particular rides at all. Then when the time comes I just walk to the ride and get on it without waiting pershaps 70 minutes for it. So it's a tad liberating. It's freeing me for those smaller things like greeting characters, exploring shops, taking time to do those other rides first, etc.

Anyway, I still like to see that I wasn't the only one who really felt like my hand was being forced by Disney. Didn't like this new system at all... but at least I am settling into now.

Waiting in a very long line every time we wanted to go to a park got old fast. We've stayed at POR, CSR, and CBR. Even with their numerous bus stops, it still took us longer at Pop. The lines at Pop were so crazy. They are uncovered and you can't sit. We've never encountered people "rushing the buses" at the moderates. I know people have had good bus service at Pop, but we had a terrible experience.

As a POFQ Nerd (now staying at POP for the first time) ... i can tell you that their (POFQ) bus service is Fantastic. You NEVER wait long for their buses and nor are their buses constantly crowded. It's a small resort. They only need one bus stop. It's the one thing that I know I'm going to miss. Plus their boat that takes you to Downtown Disney is just heavenly.

Does the one bus stop bother anyone? We stayed at POR a week ago and want to try something different for our next trip. I was thinking about POP to save money or POFQ but since I saw POFQ has only one stop were thinking POP for sure.

Buses at Pop can get crowded at times. But I've always found the Pop buses more frequent then the POFQ buses.

Busy, crowded, long waits, etc. But I will give it a bit of a break, it was the October right after they opened. But no I wasn't fond of it at all. My worry is that POP is just as big and crowded as AoA and has only the one bus stop. Too many people at one stop means crowds and POP is big.

I've actually had great service at the All Stars and the PO resorts even with the occasional sharing. (and yeah that boat to DTD is a huge advantage) There are pros and cons to value and mod buststops though. I actually like the way values have forced lines, as the wait in a huddle then stalk the bus is a bit of a pain, but I'm really fond of the shade you get at the Mods over the wait in the sun lines at the Values.

I had pretty good service at WL and okay service at BC (this was back when they shared with Boardwalk and the Swan/Dolphin but I've seen that they now don't share with all four). But again no lines and you almost always share at the Deluxes.

That is so true. The first time we stayed at Pop Century (June 2004) we found the bus service to be really good. We rarely waited more than 10 minutes for a bus and most waits were less than that (according to my notes) -- and that was both at the resort and at the parks. I do remember having to stand on buses a few times because I was pregnant on that trip (but wasn't showing yet) and it was challenging (balance wise) to stand on a moving bus. We also found attraction lines to be very reasonable with only the headliners having lengthy waits. By using FP, we managed to do everything we wanted to and more. When we got home from that trip, I read a trip report on a message board by someone who happened to be at Pop Century the exact same days that we were. That guy complained over and over again in his report about how bad the bus service was at Pop Century -- saying he constantly had to wait 20-30 minutes for a bus and almost always had to stand. He also complained about how full the parks were and that he and his family didn't get on nearly as many rides as they had hoped to because lines were so long, yadda, yadda, yadda. I was kind of surprised how someone who was visiting at the same time we did could have a completely opposite experience from ours. Even though that guy had hundreds of posts on that message board at the time, I'm guessing he didn't do much -- if any -- planning or research.

FWIW, we've always had really good bus service at Pop (3 stays) and AoA (2 stays). There's always one or two times per visit that we have a long wait for whatever reason, but during our recent stay at AoA (June 2015) we never waited more than 10 minutes for a bus to/from AoA and the vast majority of our waits were under 5 minutes. I know we took the bus back to Pop once or twice during the week but that was always because the line for AoA was really long and the Pop bus was pulling up as we were getting to the line. The longest waits I've had during our stays over the last 15 years have always been at a Deluxe resort. We waited 40 minutes for a bus from The Grand Floridian to DTD one afternoon; 30 minutes for a bus from Yacht Club to DTD after an Illuminations Fireworks Cruise (and then we had to stop at all the other EP resorts); and on our most recent trip we waited 45 minutes for a bus from AKL to DHS one evening (meanwhile, 3 or 4 buses for *each* of the other parks showed up during that time frame). Those were the only 3 times we used bus service from a Deluxe resort so we don't have a good track record there.

As you can tell from my signature, I'm also a POFQ nerd, having stayed there for the past 7 trips. We really love POFQ, but couldn't justify the additional cost this time around. We're from Canada and since our dollar is so low at the moment, our Disney vacation is costing us up to 30% more just in the exchange. We enjoyed Pop when we stayed there in 2005 and are looking forward to returning. I also love the bus service at POFQ but remember our bus experience at Pop being very positive last time.

Yes, Im hearing really great things about the POP buses, so thats a good thing. I too just chose POP due to the good reviews and dollar value. POP is allowing me a REAL 9 day "vacation" plus i got the free dining. Cant beat that. I would not be willing to do nine days at POFQ. Just too much. After a 15 year absence im looking forward to a great time sans putting all of my money on a place to sleep and wash. And the POP reviews are so great that im not even mourning POFQ. Just cant wait for my Oct POP arrival!

Lol Ladyslipper. Tis True! I will post a link below. So heavenly. You get to pass the Treehouse Villa's. My fondest WDW memories are from taking that relaxing ride on that boat to DTD. You're going to love it!

I think I may even take some free time go to DTD via POFQ just to keep that memory alive!

Checked in last night!

So far, so good (other than the weather forecast lol).

We requested 1st floor and close to transportation (standard room), and it worked out great this time, as we got a prime room in the 60s section, right next to the central elevator of building 4.

Off to our BoG lunch for now!
