For the MOST Disney experience possible, should we stay in a specific building? Do any specific things on resort? Anything in particular I should request?
OH! And we will need regular access to the microwave before heading into the parks because we have to take food into the parks for my son due to a medical condition. Is there one particular building that would give us faster/easier access in the morning?
Our family of six checks in a week from Sunday - room 1 will be my Mom, Aunt, and myself...room 2 will my sister, her husband, and their two children (age 3 and 7). We did book a preferred room (Mom has knee issues and we wanted to be close) and we are going to do online check in today. Out of the preferred sections, which one is quieter (if there is a such a thing)? Was thinking 50s but really have no idea.
Also, we would like connecting rooms if possible - that way we can help out with the young ones. Is there a way to go about this prior to arriving or do we wait until we get there?
Thanks
Are the elevators located in the center of each building? I booked preferred, and ideally I would like to have ground floor 50s close to transportation. Or would saying 50s put me close enough to transportation anyway?
I would change your request to a room in the 50's. If you are booked for a std pool view (which means you are going to get a room in the 50's or in the 80's/90's section), they can't give you a std room (which is what the lake view rooms in the 60's are) because they are cheaper and that would be downgrading you. They can upgrade but they can't downgrade. If you check in soon, I would put my request in soon!!I did my on line check in and I selected the 60's as my request. But my reservation is for a standard pool room I didn't realize there is no standard pool room in the 60's. Should I change my request selection to the 50's or would Disney give me a room that is not a pool or preferred location in the 60's building I really would like a room in the 60's by the lake.
Call Disney and have them add "connecting rooms" to both reservations.
There is no choice for connecting rooms during on-line check in.
I love all the preferred sections. They are going to get you closest to Classic Hall.
50's is my least favorite because of the smoking section in between the 2 buildings (marked on the map with a blue box with a cigarette). That smoking spot always seems to be busy and it makes me sick to have to walk anywhere near it.
When we book preferred we normally request 70's, ground floor. It is the quitest area since there is no pool in that section but it is still close to the main pool. I like 60's too and if you get assigned to the back part of the 60's building, it is in front of the kiddy pool which may be nice for the kids and it is close to the bridge that goes over to AoA. That area is a little further from Classic Hall. Here is the map, The preferred rooms are highlighted in yellow:

Hope you get the perfect room!
I would change it to 50's pool.I did my on line check in and I selected the 60's as my request. But my reservation is for a standard pool room I didn't realize there is no standard pool room in the 60's. Should I change my request selection to the 50's or would Disney give me a room that is not a pool or preferred location in the 60's building I really would like a room in the 60's by the lake.
Thank you so much for the reply. Going to call tomorrow to have them add "connecting rooms" to our reservations. Also, appreciate the feedback on location. Had no idea about the smoking section so that is good to know as I cannot deal with the smell of it and rather not walk anywhere near it.
We booked preferred room for our upcoming trip. If we want to watch the illumination fireworks, what is the best room to request? Thanks
You can actually add all your requests to your reservation when you call a CM but make sure you put your requests in order of importance to you,
Ex: connecting rooms, xx section, xxx floor, close to transportation, etc. Then you can check 2 requests during on line check in (unfortunately not connecting rooms). Don't bombard them with a ton of requests, I would recommend no more than 3 and if you get 2 of them, be happy!
During our last trip, I requested connecting rooms, 50's, 4th floor. We got connecting rooms, building 2 in the 50's and a ground floor. We got 2 of our requests and we ended up loving the ground floor that we didn't request (just not so much the building we were assignedI didn't realize I would love a ground floor as much as we did. Now ground floor is what we request. Building 2 is pretty far from classic hall and we had to walk through that smoking area coming and going so as much as we love the 50's theme we won't request 50's anymore. Live and learn
