If I stay in the preferred pool room category I would stay obviously in the 60s section so during online check in if I request a top floor would that be the only thing I need to request since preferred pool view guarantees me a pool view and preferred guarantees me close to the transportation?

Correct.

on page 1 of this thread in the picture of the hippitty dippitty pool is that blue building really the classic hall? Is that really how close it is to that section? if so, I might stay there.
60's pool view is close to the main building. I would definitely stay there. I'm thinking the top floor would reduce some of the noise from the main pool.

POP had a birthday button for DD in our welcome packet when we were there last year.

Yes they have ALL of the Celebration buttons at the front desk. Just ask if the don't offer it. They gave me an I'm celebrating button that I did not even request! :)

Thanks both! I'm glad I don't have to waste park hours lining up to get one :D

Another question....I haven't changed my room category yet, not sure if I will.

Yes that would be correct

Yes it is really that close.

Great! Thank you both!! We have decided to stay in the 60s preferred pool. We love 50s but are willing to try something new. We have requested the top floor

Pixie dust that we get it! Thank you all for your feedback.

Does anyone know if you can get the celebration buttons at check in at Pop? I know some resorts have them but haven't heard if Pop has them also. I'm hoping they do so it will save me time on my first morning in the parks. Thanks!
Yes all the resorts have them. You will be fine.

Thanks for the reply. Out of the preferred buildings which one is closest to a bus stop, food area, and pool? Just trying to keep the distant short for me and my dad

Any Preferred room is going to get you closest to Classic Hall and transportion. Preferred is highlighted in yellow on the map below. 70's section does not have a pool but the preferred rooms in the 70's section are extremely close to the main pool in the 60's section. If you are assigned a room closest to the end of the building in any section it is, of course, going to get you closest and being on the ground floor is going to avoid having to go to the middle of the building to get to the elevator and then backtracking toward Classic Hall (unless you want to use the stairs). The only preferred area that is not closest to Classic Hall is the back part of the 60's. It faces the kiddy pool and is very close to the bridge to AoA. It isn't far from Classic Hall but the other area's are closer. Personally, if your most important request is being closest with the easiest access to Classic Hall/transportation and pools and as long as you don't have a preference of era's between, I would check "near transportation" and "ground floor" during on-line check in (example below).

30 days til our third stay at Pop! :yay: We've requested and gotten building three, lakeside, adjoining rooms each time and hoping to get lucky again. Since we are six rooms this time, instead of our usual three, I'm not holding my breath but you never know. Just cannot wait to be there...pixiedust:

It's been 10 years since we've stayed at Pop so I need some help from the resident Pop experts. :flower1: DH and I recently retired and decided the best way to celebrate our retirement and my birthday in January is with a trip to our happy place. For the past several years, we've stayed at POFQ and though we love it there, when I discovered we could stay at Pop for three weeks for less than two weeks at POFQ, we decided to go for it!

As I mentioned, our last stay at Pop was 10 years ago, and we were there in March during Spring Break. We were assigned a room in the 80's section, near the far end of building 7, facing building 9. While the area was nice enough, we weren't thrilled with the location or the overall noise level. It was also a bit of a hike to the food court and the buses. I've been reading the comments in this thread as well as studying the map and I've decided that the best room requests for us (to insure closer proximity to Classic Hall and a quieter environment) would probably be lake view and close to transportation. My question ~ is there any particular section/decade or building that would be the best one to request? I was thinking either the 60's or 70's lake view would work nicely? We will also need a ground floor room due to DH's back and my knees, if that makes any difference. Any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated! :D

I would word your request "60's or 70's", "Lake View" and "ground floor". I would list them in the order of importance.

Is it a January trip?

The Fifteens will be there if that is a big deal to you(I "think" they try to put them mostly in the 80s and 90s).:)
