Disney's POP CENTURY RESORT Information & Questions

Thanks to this great thread for helping me choose Pop for my first stay as a solo parent. 1 mom+ 3 kids at Pop= great fun! I booked a standard room, and plan on asking for 1st floor, as I will have a stroller. Any recommendations for building requests? My priorities would be near bus stop, then pool/food court after that.

There are elevators, so being on a higher floor isnt too much trouble if you do get stuck there. I actually really like the 90's section, building 9. Its a short walk to the bus stop, the 80's/90's section have their own pool, and its not too far from Classic hall. But if you want to be close to the bus stop/main pool/classic hall , I'd request 70's section, building 10 or 50's section building 1.

If you really want ground floor, I would not request particular buildings. That becomes problematic for the room assignors if occupancy is high. I would at best request maybe a decade or two but not specific bldgs. Pick what is MOST important and go with that first.

Here is a copy of the map of POP with the room categories highlighted. The standard rooms are not highlighted on the map. Hopefully this will help you with a location that would be best for your request.

These are the room requests that you will get to choose from during online check in (these are only requests and are not guaranteed). Personally, if you are wanting a ground floor room close to transportation those would be my 2 choices. I wouldn't choose a section. By choosing "ground floor" and "near transportation" this would give the room assigner a better chance of finding your what you are looking for. As you can see in the map above, some standard rooms are not close to transportation at all. So if you request ground floor & 50's section and you get a room in building 2, it is a pretty long trek after a long day at the parks, same with ground floor & 70's request, building 7 and 8 can be far from transportation. Even some of the other rooms that are standard with a lake view can be pretty far and seem like forever to get there when you are tired.

Choosing ground floor and near transportation will hopefully get you into the sections of building 1, 3, 6, 9 or 10 that are closest to Classic Hall/transportation.
Buildings 1, 3 and 9 all are in a section with a pool and building 6 and 10 are a close walk to the main pool but all of those would be closest to transportation in a standard room.
:tinker:pixie dust for the perfect room! Have fun!

Can't wait to be back! About 46 days for me. :)

46 days for me today so I think I am 1 day behind you. Can't wait!!

Thanks SPOERLX3 & bluesy! I did contact Disney and added a request for a king room. I don't have any other requests so hopefully I will get this one. They told me to keep checking on a handicapped room because they do get cancellations. I was thrilled to find an awesome airfare today. From Atlanta to Orlando $98 round trip!

Terri

Wow, lucky! I paid about $500 per round trip ticket this time around :(

I'm about a month away from my first stay at Pop! So excited!

Last year, DH and I stayed at POR. We faxed in a room request there and got everything we asked for - it was like magic! Does Pop accept faxed room requests? If so, can anyone give me some details about how to do that? Last year, for POR, I used a free fax service over the internet. Thank you!

Another one at the 46 day mark! :D

Made a ressie to stay at POP the end of this month. Got an AMAZING DEAL on a room... just not sure if I am going to be able to get back down to Florida.... I am hoping...

This thread has made me even more excited....if that is possible! We finally booked our flights today, but our trip isn't until November, so it will be a torturous few months. Thanks for all the great info and maps on here! This is my first time back to Disney World in 10 years, and our first time at POP.

Hi there, gang! I will be heading to Pop Century in October and I am really hoping to be the 50s section! I have a question though...what is the difference between the lake view and the landscape view?

Thanks so much for your help :)

Hello anneboleyn! You will love POP!
Here is a map showing the layout of POP with each room category highlighted to give you a visual.

To answer your question. The back side of buildings 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 all have rooms that face Hourglass lake, these are the lake view rooms. Most of these area's are considered a standard view room since they are the furthest from Classic Hall/food court and the buses for transportation to the parks (hint if you want a lake view standard room close to transportation/Classic Hall, building 6 in the 70's section is it!). However, not all standard rooms offer the lake view. Landscape view could be a view of one of the giant icons or maybe garden area. There are landscape views in both standard or preferred room categories.
A lake view in the 50's section would be in building 2 or building 3 (all standard rooms). A landscape view could be in buildings 1 (preferred or standard rooms), 2(standard rooms) or 3 (preferred or standard rooms).

Take a look at the first post of this thread. There is a ton of great information and some wonderful pictures thanks to Janet B!

Hope this helps! Enjoy your trip!

You are the BEST!! Thank you so much :)

Maybe a strange question, but are the pools refreshing in the summer? Or, are they too warm to make a difference?

I'm bumping this since I didn't get a response. Does anyone know?

POP does not accept faxed requests. Since the invention of online checkin, pretty much all hotels have done away with accepting faxed requests with the exception of a very select few. All of the other hotels just toss those requests.
Any room requests should be noted in your reservation or put in if you do online checkin. That is how it gets handled at POP. I have 125 nights there. I am pretty familiar with how things work at POP. :)
