At the All-Stars they just have large signs,no "dediciated" security CM, on all sides of the Pools that seem to work pretty good getting the point across.:)

They have these at the pool also (or something simular). I wonder if it is because the actual drowning happened at POP :confused3
Or maybe they were just always there when I saw them and they don't stay all the time. :scratchin

I just booked Pop for October 25 through October 31. Due to arthritis I need a scooter to get around, but there weren't any accessible rooms available. I'm worried if the scooter will fit in a standard room. Does anyone have any experience with this?

My friend wants to go to Disney World. She has never been before, so I was telling her about Pop Century, and how much I liked staying there. She is waiting for some money from a settled lawsuit. As soon as she receives her check, the 2 of us can actually book our vacation package. I am excited at the opportunity to stay at Pop Century again, and also to see the reconfigured Hub at the Magic Kingdom. If all goes well, we should be traveling the first week in February, so we can be at Magic Kingdom on her birthday, which is February the 5th. I now need to resubscribe to this thread, and to do a daily read of the disboards. I love to plan, and my friend is a newbie, so she has left it all in my hands.

They actually show to have accessible rooms in several room categories for your dates, there are just not any left in the allotment of rooms they have set aside for free dining :sad1: During our last trip, my DH was in a wheelchair due to an emergency knee surgery 2 weeks before our trip and we couldn't get the wheelchair into our double bed room without collapsing it.:sad2: So I can't imagine being able to get a scooter in there. There is a possibility that it may fit in a king room since the bed is further over but it's going to be tight. You could request a king room but it is only a request and not guaranteed. Since it shows there are accessible rooms actually available, If it were me, I would contact Disney and ask them to add to your reservation, "King room to allow for scooter" or "king room-scooter/wheelchair accessible". You may get lucky and if they don't fill all of their accessible rooms, you may get one assigned :wizard:. IMHO, if this is your most important "need", I would recommend that you don't add any other requests and don't add any requests during on-line check in. This will allow the room assigner to look only for a king room and hopefully one that is accessible. If you need double beds, then I would still add the request "double room - scooter/wheelchair accessible" just so the room assigner knows what you are needing.

Good luck and have a great trip!

If you need the ability to move around the room on the scooter than, no, there would not be room to do that in a non-accessible double room. However, if you just need to park the scooter in the room and can maneuver around the room on foot, there is definitely enough space to park it in the room. My nephew uses a power chair for long distance walking due to muscular dystrophy and he has had enough room to park that in a double room at Pop Century (he's physically able to walk around the room so the chair just gets parked and charged in the room.)

Does Pop share pools with AoA? Can you use the AoA pools when you stay at Pop?

Checked in at 9am (online check in was for 8 but I was a little slow getting ready this morning!). The front desk leader checked me in with the iPad and I was pleased to find out that the room was ready and all of our requests were met from online check-in (60s top floor). The whole process took under 5 mins! Magic band was checked and worked on the door and for DDP!!!

Well. At this point I am now at Pop for Wine & Dine weekend. I had been booked at POFQ, but flights are significantly cheaper on Monday, and staying at POFQ would have required a room change the last day. So... :) Yay.

Thanks SPOERLX3 & bluesy! I did contact Disney and added a request for a king room. I don't have any other requests so hopefully I will get this one. They told me to keep checking on a handicapped room because they do get cancellations. I was thrilled to find an awesome airfare today. From Atlanta to Orlando $98 round trip!

WOW Terri! $98 rt! That is awesome! I was excited to find mine from Dallas to Orlando for $177! When went in September, we paid $254rt so $177 was a steal!

Just booked a short trip to Pop for Sept. 3- 7th! Booked it on Orbitz for $65 a night! This will be my 1st stay in a value! A little nervous, but can't beat that price!

Yes if you don't really need that roll in shower....please don't book those rooms. They are becoming harder and harder to get for those that TRULY MUST have them. There is enough room to move around and if you don't use it and want more room for your ECV, you can ask them to remove the table and they will. :)

I'm about a month away from my first stay at Pop! So excited!

Last year, DH and I stayed at POR. We faxed in a room request there and got everything we asked for - it was like magic! Does Pop accept faxed room requests? If so, can anyone give me some details about how to do that? Last year, for POR, I used a free fax service over the internet. Thank you!

Thanks to this great thread for helping me choose Pop for my first stay as a solo parent. 1 mom+ 3 kids at Pop= great fun! I booked a standard room, and plan on asking for 1st floor, as I will have a stroller. Any recommendations for building requests? My priorities would be near bus stop, then pool/food court after that.

To up your chances I wouldn't request a specific building. I would request 1st floor, close to food court.
