Down to 50 days! My first time at a value and I'm hoping for the best. Glad to hear all the positive comments about POP. Hoping I made the right choice! I did request a room in the '50s facing the lake. Im hoping I'll get it!

You will love POP! 50's facing the lake is a great location, especially because it is a standard room :thumbsup2!
(you are booked standard, correct??)

You may want to call and add to your reservation, 50's, lake view, building 3. Even though, we love every building in the 50's, building 2 is a pretty long trek after a long day at the park. :faint:

What time are the pools closing? We are going in September.
You would have to check the board for the hours, but the Lifeguard hours are typically from 10:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m.

I found these hours posted on wdwinfo "Pool hours are from 8am - midnight with lifeguards on duty from 10am-10pm (quiet hours are from 10pm-midnight)" but this is not what we experience during our stay in September. We have had 8 previous stays at POP but I found them a lot more strict during this trip about no swimming without a lifeguard on duty. I spoke to a security guard on duty around the pool, when they stopped us from swimming early one morning (around 7am), he explained that since the drowning at a POP Century pool in March 2013, they have become very strict about no swimming without a lifeguard on duty. They had the pool hours posted on those pop up signs around the pool and when there was not a lifeguard on duty, there was security guard on duty to enforce it. There were normally 3-4 lifeguards at the 2 standard pools and 5-6 at the hippy dippy pool.
Someone may chime in with a more current experience.

53 days for me and I made the same requests =). We will probably see each other.

:thumbsup2That's why I included my experience. I felt that the change that we experienced, where we couldn't swim unless there was a lifeguard on duty, was more permanent after the drowning. Thank you for confirming!

I think I'm at 51 days! I requested lakeview and 4th floor. I thought about adding 50s or 60s, but for my friend, she said she'd rather top floor. I'm good with that! I am so excited to head back to Pop!!! I've been there three times already, and I've stayed at all the other values, but since I stayed at Pop for my first and second trips, it feels most like HOME!

 I think I'm at 52 days! Aug. 20th. Pop feels like our home too! :goodvibes

If they're going to pay a security guard to make sure no one swims when there is not a lifeguard on duty, then why don't they just pay a lifeguard to be on duty instead of the security guard? lol

Good question. And by no means did we monitor throughout the night that the security guard stayed the entire time throughout the entire night. I do know that every morning, I would get up at 5:30-6am and walk around the resort, go get coffee, etc and there was a security guard at the pool every morning and if we were at the parks late and the pool was closed, the security guard would be there. They also had pool maintenance men around the pool a lot as well. Always cleaning , power washing, etc once the pool was closed or before they opened. I also know that I saw security guards throughout the resort, not just around the pools. I just remember feeling very safe and thinking "these are the cleanest and most secure pools I have ever seen". Maybe someone else can chime in and share their experience and what they saw around the pools and the resort.

Hee hee! I arrive at AoA for one night on the 19th and then Pop Century for the rest of my trip on the 20th!!!! See you there! If you see someone continuously walking around with a camera and a camera bag wearing Disney clothes, that's me! Buahahahaha! (Think I'll stand out?)

No. You'll just blend in to my family.

At the All-Stars they just have large signs,no "dediciated" security CM, on all sides of the Pools that seem to work pretty good getting the point across.:)
