FancyNancy, I'm sorry that you had so many issues! We were in building 5 on the second floor (5213). Thank goodness we didn't see a single bug at the hotel because 3/4 of us would have freaked. It is ridiculous that they didn't get your luggage to your room for you by the time you got back.

We had an experience of a cockroach in our room once at Pop (20+ stays). My dd said she saw it come in when I had the latch flipped to keep the doors open a bit when when applying sunscreen outside the room. Our room was on the 1st floor that trip. I believe this bug, although nasty, is more common in hot, humid climates like FL.

Because of our previous experience we have chosen to request upper rooms and we never leave the door propped open. It could still happen but hopefully the chances are lessened. This is also another reason why I like skipping mousekeeping as understandably they keep the room doors propped open during cleaning.

We skipped mousekeeping. I will say we have never had an issue but this trip has made me press pause on considering a future trip for a while. I understand that my post may not be a popular post and that many people will make excuses for it but it's my experience and 100% unfiltered.

I think I have all the measurements people have requested for spaces in the new rooms. If there any others you would like please let me know. We are here 1 more night. Thanks!

@scrappinginontario before I forget! Room 5122 is an accessible roll in shower room. Room 5120 is a tub/shower combo. Room 1440 is a tub shower combo and room 1439 is just a shower.

OK guys here is my review. Please keep in mind that I have stayed at POP before and many other Disney hotels without incident. This trip was different. We just got back on Sunday and POP and the parks were slammed! I've never seen it so busy the last week in August. I suspect free Dining had something to do with it. We checked in and had rooms in building 5 on the first floor. We loved the renovated rooms!

On the first night my mother was in her room and stepped on a lump on the way to the bathroom. She turned the light on and it was a cockroach (palmetto bug whatever you want to call them). She killed it but it made her want to switch rooms. I talked her out of it and said it could just be a one time thing. The second full day my daughter and I were getting ready to go to Animal Kingdom park opening in our room and she saw a cockroach scurry up into our coffee area. I killed it with a flip flop and flushed it down the toilet. This is when I realized that there were probably cockroaches in building 5 and that it might have an issue. My daughter is 14 and hates bugs so I knew that we would have to switch rooms. Not 10 minutes later she saw another cockroach scurry under the coffee center. I called guest services and arranged for both rooms to be moved. They told us to pack all of our bags and leave them under the windows and that they would send us room texts later in the day when our new rooms were ready and move our luggage to the new rooms. My mother and brother got theirs before us and we just left our essentials bags in their room. I did not receive my room text until 7pm while we were eating at Cape May.

My daughter and I stayed at EPCOT for extra magic hours that night and got back to the resort around midnight. We walked in our room and our luggage was not there. At this point I was not a happy camper. It was late. We were tired. We had been basically roomless all day. I went to the lobby and talked to luggage services. When I walked into the luggage room my suitcases and totes were on a rolling cart just sitting there. I said "These are mine can you help me bring them up." The cast member stated he was busy and only had one guy running luggage up to rooms. I asked if I could just take the cart myself at this point. He said yes and to just leave the cart by the elevators when I was done with it. So at midnight I was rolling a luggage cart up to my room. It was noisy and I felt bad for anyone I might have woken up. He gave us all three fastpasses for Magic Kingdom the next day for my troubles.

Don't get me wrong there were good parts to this trip but this experience has made me cancel our February trip to the Poly and book Vegas instead. We won't be back to Disney for a long time.

Sunday night someone from our Facebook August group said she had cockroaches in her room in building 1 and another stated they had to leave due to bed bugs. Disney resort management needs to get it's act together and fast. Pop is a mess right now. IMO

Yuck! I’d ask for a room change as well if I found 3 roaches on two separate days. Sorry you had to deal with that! Which reminds me, we always see those palmetto bugs at night in August crawling on and around doors at night.
I thankfully haven’t seen any this trip outside. I guess they’ve moved indoors.

Are there times of year when bugs in the rooms are more common. I have stayed at POP in May and in October, 1st floor both times, and no bugs. Our next stay in this coming November and now I am worried.

Yikes! I hate to hear this. We were in building five a month ago and no bugs. I am sure we would have been in a similar boat as you as my two daughters do NOT like bugs.

Luckily we were in 2 rooms on the first floor in Late June/early July and saw no bugs this summer. We did see a lot of earthworms in the sidewalks in first floor coming up out of the rain. We were in buildings 3&4. I hate bugs but wouldn’t be surprised to see one occasionally. Wouldn’t like to see 3 my room though.

@scrappinginontario if you wouldn’t mind, can you check to see if bottled or canned Coke Zero is available in the food court/store? I want to buy a few for our fridge for my morning drink. I don’t do coffee and don’t want a refillable mug for our short stay.

Many thanks and enjoy the rest of your vacation with your beautiful daughter.

My best friend was next door to us in building 7 pool view. I told her to look out the window for the awesome view! She made me come over to her view of the cutout's armpit!! We couldn't stop laughing, but if that was something she was counting on, it would not have been a great view!
Edit: We were 4th floor, building 7, standard pool view

:rotfl2:That is hilarious! Thanks for the heads-up. I'll definitely put "unobstructed view" or something similar as my #1 request.

There is bottled Coke Zero in the grab and go coolers. :)

Can someone tell me about the coffee makers? A picture would be great. I am interested in the types of filters it uses in case I decide to bring my own coffee.

Thanks! My daughter loved her surprise although she was kinda in shock at first!! It was cute too....last night when we were walking to our room at Pop she suddenly raised her arm and said,’Mommy, can you pinch me? I think I must be dreaming!!’ Here’s a video of the big reveal
OMGosh I love your daughter. She’s such a beautiful little person

*** SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT!!! ***

I am at Pop now and I can officially announce that ALL Pop rooms are now refurbished and open to guests!!!

17 1/2 months from start to finish and may I say I think they did a great job!!

Hopefully the food court will be their next big refurb here. While it won’t be fun to live through, after visiting a couple of resorts this trip with newer food courts, Pop’s is in need of an updating for sure!
