Disney's POP CENTURY RESORT Information & Questions

Weird question - but are the doors metal? I would like to use magnates to post our itineraries inside or room. If not, any other place in the room that might work?

I always do - like a LOT of them! But sometimes I wait a long time, & they're thick ones. I'm used to the closet space that's twice the size, so figured the skinny ones from dry cleaners will take up less space. On our Disney cruise, when I asked for extra hangers, they brought these. I was like, really? That's all they had. So thought I'll bring my own; save time unpacking and space.

I looked at some vanity pictures and don't see any outlets by the sink. Is it just the camera angles of the pictures I'm looking at or are they not there?

You'll have a great time. My first Dis resort was POR & and I loved it but over the past few years, I have stayed at POP many times and found it to be great for my needs. Since I am at the parks (and Food & Wine!) every day, I just want a clean, safe place to sleep & get cleaned up in the morning. POP works well for me and I no longer see the need to pay a higher premium for a moderate resort when I never really take advantage of the amenities onsite. Don't forget to try the King Cupcake (named after Elvis, with candied bacon, banana & peanut butter) and the POP signature tie-died cheesecake. You can find both in the cafeteria in the bakery section near the ice cream. Also check out the time capsule dioramas on the wall opposite check-in. I particularly enjoy the 80s one with snapshots of the tv shows & toys that I loved at the time. Enjoy!

Samsteele, aren't you so sad that they have changed the tye dyed cheesecake :sad1:
It is so hard for me to understand why they would have taken it from this:
to this

So sad :sad2:

Yes. It's just nasty! I don't understand it either. Why mess with a good thing?? But . . . try the King Cupcake. Don't think they could squish that into a little plastic cup. Well, let's not give them any ideas :sad2:

At least my DD won't know better with the cheesecake! And we'll probably get it once - we love the Boardwalk Bakery plus want to try a bunch of sweets in Epcot and Starring Rolls too!

Those were the good old days! Mom's Night Out Fried Chicken & the original tie-dyed cheesecake! No calories. Promise. ps That other dish looks like a tie-dyed sandwich of some sort. Grilled cheese, maybe? I never had the chance to try that one.

Yes, the doors are metal. I always took magnetic bulldog clips along when we stayed at Pop. We'd keep our notes/itineraries there as well as other odds and ends.

Does anyone know if you are able to get peanut butter to put on toast? I remember reading that the packets were removed from the food court and I do not want a full jar. DH is used to eating a big breakfast and I am not.

Darn, we were just there, left Friday, and if I had seen your post I would have checked for you.

I will definitely try it in November! They have squished every other cake into one of those plastic cups throughout Disney, I just hope they don't squish them into those little plastic cups before I get a chance to try it :rotfl:

Those were definitely the good ole days! We have been staying at POP since the day it opened. Our 2003 trip we checked in on the first day that POP open, December 14, 2003 and we in November it will be our 9th time staying there since. I have never seen a sandwich with tye dye bread. lol
And eventhough they took away the tv dinners, my beloved philly cheesesteak wrap and changed the tye dye cheesecake, we still enjoy eating at POP.
I have never eaten at AoA but we may walk over there in November to see if there is something we like over there.

Yes, you can request bed rails. I used them several times for our kids when we stayed at Pop. If your DD is the only one sleeping in the bed, definitely request two rails so you can have them on both sides of the bed. I usually just asked for them when we checked in at the front desk or called Mousekeeping when we got to our room. They always delivered them quickly.
Great! We definitely need them and it sounds like it won't be an issue. :)

How did you make a room request through touring plans?

Let us know if you get your room request!
Have fun!

At the top of my trip plan dashboard it says something about selecting a room. I can't remember exactly what I did, but try clicking on that as a start. Next time I'm at my computer I'll try to recreate what I did. Then 5 days out, touring plans automatically faxes your request. :)

Thank you! That is so cool! I have been a tp subscriber for years and never knew that! I will play with it too!

I really liked the turf and turf sandwich at AoA! Our first day at POP is a lounge day until the hallloween party so be will have breakfats at pop, pool time then lunch at AoA. My kids also like the statues and other design at AoA.

It's great to be able to go back and forth and enjoy some of each resort.

Can anyone post a May movie under the stars schedule? I have tried finding one on this thread, but no luck :( thanks in advance!
